I'm not a tester - crunchy all the way for me! I like Whole Earth peanut butter, I much prefer it to other brands.

bubblesmonkey · 25/09/2013 20:20

Non tester here, but since I buy a jar of Whole Earth Crunchy every week I can probably answer the questions!

Q1. What did you/your DCs think of the consistency, texture and flavour of Whole Earth peanut butter? Was this similar/different to what you were expecting?

We all love it and go through at least 1 jar a week - we only get crunchy.

Q2. If you have tried other peanut butter brands before, how do you think Whole Earth Crunchy Original peanut butter compared overall?

The best brand I've tried, and we have generally tried them all. Meridian (sp?) is good but a bit flavourless.

Q3. The RRP for 227g of Whole Earth Crunchy Original peanut butter is £1.99 and 454g is £3.19. Would you be happy to pay this? If so, why. If not, why not?

I do pay this, but whenever it's on offer I stock up. I feel it's a bit pricey, but worth it.

Q4. How did you eat your peanut butter product? On its own? On toast? Did you use it in a recipe? If so, what did you cook?

Peanut butter sandwiches, sometimes with jam too.

Q5. If it came up in conversation would you recommend Whole Earth peanut butter to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, absolutely.

OxfordToLondoner · 25/09/2013 20:50

Not a tester. This is my fave brand of peanut butter, and I always buy crunchy.

GrandPoohBah · 25/09/2013 20:55

Not a tester but I prefer smooth - my teeth get confused when it's crunchy Grin

Minimammoth · 25/09/2013 21:58

Not a tester, but crunchy is our choice, all the way.

Justinepants · 25/09/2013 22:30

Not a tester but definitely crunchy every time. I've not tried Whole Earth but will check it out as I want something more healthy than the mainstream brands. Peanut butter in pitta is a favourite for breakfast in our house.

fizzly · 25/09/2013 22:38

Crunchy. Meridien or Whole Earth only. (Not a tester). PB has been my spread of choice since a tiny child and my kids practically weaned on it Grin

patchworkchick · 25/09/2013 23:28

Didn't do the tasting, always buy chrunchy peanut butter.

MoneyMug · 26/09/2013 07:21

Non tester here. I prefer smooth for toast ect but crunchy for when I make PB and nutella cookies. Yum.

HomicidalPsychoJungleCat · 26/09/2013 08:20

Prefer crunchy. But the best peanut butter is one where the peanut oil is still within, and hasn't been extracted and replaced by planet destroying Palm Oil... Was looking at W.E. peanut butter as an alternative to our usual brand and was really surprised to see it ha palm oil in, ESP as its not one of the cheaper brands....

RubyRR · 27/09/2013 09:42

We are a bit slow with the feedback but my daughter made peanut better and banana muffins yesterday, it was lovely to get home to the fresh smell of cake. The crunchy parts of the peanut butter are really crunchy, I don't think I have ever chewed my food as much trying to find every piece.
In the name of research I had another muffin this morning, they taste great today too.

Q1. What did you/your DCs think of the consistency, texture and flavour of Whole Earth peanut butter? Was this similar/different to what you were expecting?

It was better than I was expecting I prefer a smooth sweeter peanut butter but was very nice for a crunchy

Q2. If you have tried other peanut butter brands before, how do you think Whole Earth Crunchy Original peanut butter compared overall?

It was a nice crunchy one but I prefer skippy smooth

Q3. The RRP for 227g of Whole Earth Crunchy Original peanut butter is £1.99 and 454g is £3.19. Would you be happy to pay this? If so, why. If not, why not?

Seems pretty reasonable

Q4. How did you eat your peanut butter product? On its own? On toast? Did you use it in a recipe? If so, what did you cook?

Q5. If it came up in conversation would you recommend Whole Earth peanut butter to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

If they liked crunchy peanut butter yes

Dededum · 27/09/2013 11:26

Tester here

Q1. What did you/your DCs think of the consistency, texture and flavour of Whole Earth peanut butter? Was this similar/different to what you were expecting?

DH loved it, big peanut butter fan. DS2 tried it but didn't like it which surprised me as he likes nuts. DH expected smoother but liked the lumps.

Q2. If you have tried other peanut butter brands before, how do you think Whole Earth Crunchy Original peanut butter compared overall?

Very positively, see above

Q3. The RRP for 227g of Whole Earth Crunchy Original peanut butter is £1.99 and 454g is £3.19. Would you be happy to pay this? If so, why. If not, why not?

Yes, it lasts a long time is very filling

Q4. How did you eat your peanut butter product? On its own? On toast? Did you use it in a recipe? If so, what did you cook?

On ryvita, with oatcake and bananas

Q5. If it came up in conversation would you recommend Whole Earth peanut butter to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, quality product.

elfycat · 27/09/2013 12:23

Q1. What did you/your DCs think of the consistency, texture and flavour of Whole Earth peanut butter? Was this similar/different to what you were expecting?

I loved the flavour as it tasted of proper monkey-nut rather. I found the texture of the crunchy bits really good, but the paste felt a little too thick and we were reaching for drinks to help swallow. I often use peanut butter as the sole spread but with this I thought that butter would also be needed.

Q2. If you have tried other peanut butter brands before, how do you think Whole Earth Crunchy Original peanut butter compared overall?

We usually have a brand-leader or supermarket product but I preferred the flavour of this one. I bought the smooth off the back of this test and that also had a great flavour and compared very well.

Q3. The RRP for 227g of Whole Earth Crunchy Original peanut butter is £1.99 and 454g is £3.19. Would you be happy to pay this? If so, why. If not, why not?

I would be happy to pay this for a product tasting as good as this.

Q4. How did you eat your peanut butter product? On its own? On toast? Did you use it in a recipe? If so, what did you cook?

We mainly had it on toast or in a sandwich with jam.

Q5. If it came up in conversation would you recommend Whole Earth peanut butter to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would recommend the flavour but would be inclined to say I found it too thick and sticky for my palate (then recommend the smooth)

theoriginalandbestrookie · 27/09/2013 16:02

I was a tester - thanks so much for the jar

Q1. What did you/your DCs think of the consistency, texture and flavour of Whole Earth peanut butter? Was this similar/different to what you were expecting? We liked it, prefer crunchy to smooth, like that there are no additives in the Whole Earth product

Q2. If you have tried other peanut butter brands before, how do you think Whole Earth Crunchy Original peanut butter compared overall?

Whole Earth is our favourite as it doesn't have unnecessary additions. have tried Meridian as well but the oil tends to separate which doesn't happen with Whole Earth

Q3. The RRP for 227g of Whole Earth Crunchy Original peanut butter is £1.99 and 454g is £3.19. Would you be happy to pay this? If so, why. If not, why not?
It is a bit expensive compared to the other brands - so I tend to look out for special offers at the supermarket. However my DF keeps trying to punt Morrisons peanut butter on us and the Whole Earth is a much nicer tasting products

Q4. How did you eat your peanut butter product? On its own? On toast? Did you use it in a recipe? If so, what did you cook?

On toast for DS and sometimes straight from the jar for me, or for peanut butter and banana on toast

Q5. If it came up in conversation would you recommend Whole Earth peanut butter to friends or family? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would recommend it. It's not a cheap product but it seems to be good quality.

DC will only eat smooth, DH prefers crunchy. Whole Earth every time.

3rdnparty · 27/09/2013 17:35

we usually have both crunchy and smooth - dh likes crunchy ds changes his mind - I think its revolting ! but am happy to give as non sugary snack to ds - not keen on palm oil though........

AmberNectarine · 27/09/2013 18:18

I am a dedicated lover of smooth. I am angry at how many brands now contain sugar though. Peanut butter should be peanuts, oil, salt - end of. I used to love SunPat, they changed it. Then i moved to Tesco own brand which they also changed, and most recently Asda, who have followed suit. I am now peanut butterless. I haven't tried Whole Earth - will do so.

Peanut butter on toast would be my last meal, if I could find any I liked.

heymammy · 27/09/2013 18:26

Non-tester...smooth all the way! Crunchy is delicious too but gets stuck all in my teeth!

mummyofcutetwo · 27/09/2013 18:44

I'm a non tester

Crunchy all the way for me! I don't think there's much point in smooth peanut butter as it tends to just cling to the roof of my mouth!

The best sandwich in the world is crispy bacon, rings of raw onion, soft cheese and crunchy peanut butter. The mixture of textures (in particular the nutty crunch) and the difference between slightly sweet and salty is just delicious. I know you'll doubt me, but try it!

Naylor71 · 27/09/2013 20:12

I'm a none tester. Love crunchy peanut butter

sassolino · 28/09/2013 15:34

I enjoy both, the smooth one to spread on crackers, and the crunchy one to use in baking, for example, chocolate peanut butter and chocolate cookies, the yummiest ever.

sassolino · 28/09/2013 15:35

Sorry, forgot to add, I didn't test it for MN, just buy it quite often.
