  1. Very easy to apply.

  1. Takes about 5 minutes. Longer than expected, and a bit irritating when you have to get dressed quickly. this may be because of the fold of blubber overhanging the scar

  1. A little bit stickier and thicker than expected, but not too much of a problem.

  1. Had tried bio-oil before (half-heartedly) but it didn't do anything. The Kelo-cote seems to have made a difference already, less itching and redness.

Q1 How easy or difficult did you find Kelo-cote to apply?

Very easy

Q2. On average how long did you find it took Kelo-cote to dry? Was this a longer or shorter time than you expected?

Maybe a couple of minutes. It was longer than I would have thought but as I expected after I'd read the info leaflet of the product.

Q3. How did you find the feel of the gel? e.g. texture, stickiness etc

It was fine. Went on well and didn't leave my finger sticky.

Q4. Before taking part in this product test, had you ever tried Kelo-cote or any other scar reducing product before? If so, which one(s)?

I'd dabbled with bio oil a while ago but not religiously or for any period of time

Q1 How easy or difficult did you find Kelo-cote to apply?
A1. Very easy though I sometimes ran out at the end of scar and needed to squeeze out a bit more (I am applying first at the end of my scar which is most thickned/lumpy)

Q2. On average how long did you find it took Kelo-cote to dry? Was this a longer or shorter time than you expected?
A2. A few minutes, as I applied after my shower and I have to jump almost straight into my clothes there was a small damp mark on my pants but it didn't last and didn't stain

Q3. How did you find the feel of the gel? e.g. texture, stickiness etc.
A3. No stickiness when applying or on my hands. When I felt my scar later in th day there was a slight tacky feel but nothing unpleasant.

Q4. Before taking part in this product test, had you ever tried Kelo-cote or any other scar reducing product before? If so, which one
A4. I tried bio-oil about a year after my c-section for about 3-4mths ( I am currently 2 years post c-section with a lumpy scar). i don't think bio-oil did much about the appearance though I think it helped with the tightness and pulling).

So far it has been an easy and pleasant product to use.

  1. Very easy to apply. I'm not sure about the 'grain of rice' sized amount though. I seem to be using more than that as I keep missing the scar due to having to peer over the mummy tummy Blush

  1. About 4-5 minutes, although I don't keep a strict time. This is what I expected from the instructions and I suspect it's taking longer than some other posters due to me using a bit more than them.

  1. It's very silky but not oily. I haven't found it at all sticky when I first put it on. I find the texture quite pleasant.

  1. I was given some Bio Oil to use during pregnancy but I used it on my face rather than over my scar.

Q1 How easy or difficult did you find Kelo-cote to apply?
I have found it very easy to apply, although I find that I need slightly more than the advised rice grain amount to cover the scar completely.

Q2. On average how long did you find it took Kelo-cote to dry? Was this a longer or shorter time than you expected?
I have 12 week old twins and so do not have the luxury of wandering round for five mins or so to let it dry. Lucky then that it seems to dry within a couple of minutes on me which was certainly swifter than I had anticipated.

Q3. How did you find the feel of the gel? e.g. texture, stickiness etc
I found that I could barely feel the gel on my finger when applying it; it felt very light and not at all sticky. Once it had dried, it left a very smooth finish on my scar, more like a sheen than anything else, and I have found that I am not as afraid of touching my scar as a result.

Q4. Before taking part in this product test, had you ever tried Kelo-cote or any other scar reducing product before? If so, which one(s)?
I have never tried Kelo-cote before, nor actually heard of it. The only other product that I have used is Bio-Oil, but only on my stretch marks, and with limited success.

I have found it very easy to apply the Kelo-cote and have managed to apply it regularly as it is so quick and easy. It seems to take no time to dry, much quicker than I thought it would from reading the instructions. The gel feels fine to me - not sticky, doesn't smell and don't feel the need to wash my hands after applying it. I haven't ever used a scar reducing product before and have been very surprised at how effective Kelo-cote is.

Q1 How easy or difficult did you find Kelo-cote to apply?
Fairly easy to apply but needed to use more than specified to cover the whole scar

Q2. On average how long did you find it took Kelo-cote to dry? Was this a longer or shorter time than you expected?
Longer time than I expected, often more than 5 mins, but perhaps I'm applying too much

Q3. How did you find the feel of the gel? e.g. texture, stickiness etc
Very sticky, which is good as it didn't get all over my clothes but I don't like the texture on my fingers afterward and find it hard to wash off properly

Q4. Before taking part in this product test, had you ever tried Kelo-cote or any other scar reducing product before? If so, which one(s)?
No, hadn't tried this or anything else

Q1 How easy or difficult did you find Kelo-cote to apply?
Hard to put such a small amount on my scar.

Q2. On average how long did you find it took Kelo-cote to dry? Was this a longer or shorter time than you expected?
as expected based on the instructions

Q3. How did you find the feel of the gel? e.g. texture, stickiness etc
A bit stickier than I would have expected.

Q4. Before taking part in this product test, had you ever tried Kelo-cote or any other scar reducing product before? If so, which ones?
No I hadn't. But it got me thinking about it.

One thing about this product is that I realise my c-section scar is (yet another) neglected aspect of my body / looks since having children. However, if I am going to do anything about it I think it's more to do with feeling good about it in my head, rather than necessariy any scientific improvement in the scar, if that makes sense. For this reason the small amount of sticky gel with set instructions about how to apply feels a bit depressing. I think I would rather just apply a lovely feeling cream that felt like I was pampering myself as a treat, rather than applying a medication. I hope that makes sense! There may be others who are genuinely determined to improve their scar, but I'd just like to feel a little bit pampered and 'worth it' - even if the look of the scar didn't really improve.

Q1 Very easy to apply - I just squeeze out about half a pinky-nail's worth and smooth it over my c-section scar in one swipe. I'm not sure that it covers it properly: my scar is lumpy, long and raised. I think that shaving would make it easier to apply and cover the scar, but I'm too lazy busy to shave all the time. I can't see how a little bit "as big as a grain of sand" is ever going to cover a scar, so will stick to my larger blob. I just feel, deep down in my bones, that I'm not using enough and would prefer to use more.

Q2. I'm not sure that I always wait for it to dry. I apply it then do my teeth, then go to bed / get dressed. I've not noticed it staining any clothes, so assume it dried ok. I have no feeling at all around my scar, and it's tricky to see the scar itself. So I'd say it takes 2 mins to dry. It's around what I expected.

Q3. I found the texture of the gel quite pleasant - not sticky, not oily, not too thin, not too thick. Just right.

Q4. No, never tried any scar-reducing treatments before

Q1 How easy or difficult did you find Kelo-cote to apply?

Very easy on vertical scar. Found horizontal scar more difficult (due to overhang Blush so have stopped doing this one now.

Q2. On average how long did you find it took Kelo-cote to dry? Was this a longer or shorter time than you expected?

Takes about 5-6 mins which is as the instruction stated so was expected.

Q3. How did you find the feel of the gel? e.g. texture, stickiness etc
Felt ok. Scar is a little tacky throughout the day.

Q4. Before taking part in this product test, had you ever tried Kelo-cote or any other scar reducing product before? If so, which one(s)?
Tried Bio-Oil but it is too runny and rather strong smelling

  1. I have been using Kelo-cote gel on my c-section scar and I have found it easy to use .
  2. On average , it takes 4-5 minutes to feel like it has dried in properly which is fine as by the time I have applied moisturiser everywhere else it has dried in.
  3. The texture was a little bit sticky to apply but once dried I found the texture was fine , a bit like a film covering but not annoying at all.
  4. I have previously been using bio - oil which I liked the texture of but didn't seem to make a load of difference to my 2 previous c- section scars.Kelo-cote is the only scar reducing product I have used since my 3rd c-section and I'm looking forward to see if there is a difference in the next few weeks .

Q1 How easy or difficult did you find Kelo-cote to apply?

I have found it relatively easy to apply with the nozzle being of the right size to dispense as the tube is squeezed along the scar.

Q2. On average how long did you find it took Kelo-cote to dry? Was this a longer or shorter time than you expected?

It takes about a minute for drying, which includes the time taken to massage the gel into the scar.

Q3. How did you find the feel of the gel? e.g. texture, stickiness etc

The gel has a good level of stickiness meaning it doesn't run off the scar when it has been applied, the texture is nice and smooth.

Q4. Before taking part in this product test, had you ever tried Kelo-cote or any other scar reducing product before? If so, which one(s)?

No I haven't.

Q1 - Very easy to apply

Q2 - Not very long at all - if I applied a bit more that intended then maybe about a minute

Q3 - Like others here, I found it was quite thick and sticky - I had to apply it to my scar straight away or it got too sticky to apply and would just stick to my fingers

Q4 - I have used bio-oil - I used it quite regularly after my CS over 2 years ago but I only use it every now and again if my scar gets sore or itchy/irritable.

Q1 How easy or difficult did you find Kelo-cote to apply?

I found it easy to apply although I have a long scar so used more than recommended.

Q2. On average how long did you find it took Kelo-cote to dry? Was this a longer or shorter time than you expected?

Found it dried 2-4 mins although moat of the time just had to continue getting dressed before it dried.

Q3. How did you find the feel of the gel? e.g. texture, stickiness etc

Texture was as expected - thicker than silcone hair products, little sticky whilst drying but not unpleasant.

Q4. Before taking part in this product test, had you ever tried Kelo-cote or any other scar reducing product before? If so, which one(s)?

I have not tried other Kelo-cote products but used a silcone strip for a while - can't remember brand but was very annoying as did not stick/stay and was always aware of it. I also used bio oil. and palmers scar oil. no difference but I did not use religiously.

Q1 How easy or difficult did you find Kelo-cote to apply?

A) Easy to apply. Although at first was concerned to make sure I did it properly, now I just slick it on.

Q2. On average how long did you find it took Kelo-cote to dry? Was this a longer or shorter time than you expected?

A) Haven't considered how long it takes, don't want to be fiddling with it, so slick it on, leave well alone & just get dressed etc.

Q3. How did you find the feel of the gel? e.g. texture, stickiness etc

A) not bothered by it - I'm used to using handcream/body cream/oils. If anything it felt like frizz-ease hair serum, so slightly slimy, but not unpleasant. I had no expectations of what I would be receiving & using.

Q4. Before taking part in this product test, had you ever tried Kelo-cote or any other scar reducing product before? If so, which one(s)?

A) I've use micro tape from Boots to try to support the scar & keep it flat. The surgeon said unlikely the tape would support scar, but the light pressure from the tape might help to stop it puckering.

As part of this trial I'm using only the Kel-o-cote.

I found it very easy to apply. It went on very smoothly and a little went a long way

Q2. On average how long did you find it took Kelo-cote to dry? Was this a longer or shorter time than you expected?

I found it dries quite quickly if you don't use too much. i think i was a bit heavy handed at first

Q3. How did you find the feel of the gel? e.g. texture, stickiness etc

The texture is quite sticky initially but and dries with a thin film over your scar which i think when you first a have c-section could feel very reassuring as i was constantly worried about getting an infection in mine in the first few weeks

Very easy and became part of my routine after a shower

Q2. On average how long did you find it took Kelo-cote to dry? Was this a longer or shorter time than you expected?
A couple of minutes so if I applied it straight after a shower, it would be dry by the time I got dressed. I expected it to take a few minutes to dry.

It feels quite thick and sticky when first applied but once dry, is not noticeable.

Quite easy, although as the scar is low down I needed to trim as hair made it more difficult.

Much quicker: I sometimes applied to an area twice as it dried so quickly I couldn't tell if I had applied properly the 1st time.

Really easy to apply and although I find the scar site still very numb it didn't cause any problems/irritation etc.

Q2. On average how long did you find it took Kelo-cote to dry? Was this a longer or shorter time than you expected?

It took only a minute or two to dry which was fine as I just got on with something else whilst it dried like putting on body cream or face srub. Very impressed.

The feel of the gel was fine, it goes on well and not as sticky as I imagined at all. Found it quite silky and very comfortable on the scar.

I had tried bio-oil but found it white pricey.
