DD came home of Friday with a filthy uniform and filthy p.e kit so perfect timing for us.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
A1 I liked how compact the bottle was. I didnt take up alot of space in the laundry cupboard. But I struggled to twist the pump and spillt liquid on the floor.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
A2 I struggled abit with pumping straight on to the wash. Maybe the nozzle could be a little longer?

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
A3 DD's uniform and p.e kit were much dirtier then they normally are! It was caked in mud and paint. It washed beautifully but not as fragranced as the Aeriel we normally use.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
A4 Yes I would. The fact her uniform washed so well without so much of a speck of the filth she came home in. Also clothes felt very soft, so definately recommended.

economymode · 03/12/2012 13:50

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Smaller than I thought it was going to be, but easy to store in the cupboard.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Make it a bit cheaper and sell it in a larger bottle, perhaps.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I really like the smell - fresh but not sickly or overpowering. I was also really impressed with its ability to clean - much better than I thought.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
If price were no object for the friend/relative, then yes. It cleans really well, is less messy than using powder or measuring out other liquid cleaners into caps - just pump straight into drawer. It also smells good. Plus it's eco-credentials are well worth a mention. If they were on a budget, then I'd still recommend it, but suggest they buy it when on offer etc/leave it up to them to make the decision.

JimmyCorkhill · 03/12/2012 14:02

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Lovely compact bottle. I did find it difficult to control the power of the squirt - I missed the detergent drawer a few times. As someone said earlier, you need to hold the bottle upright which made it tricky when applying to stains. Probably not a problem for a one off stain but my toddler's clothes are usually covered with random ones so it was tricky to get them all without wasting lots of the product.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
The price! We are on a tight budget and whilst it was lovely to use I couldn't justify spending that much money when the value ranges get my clothes equally clean.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
The smell was pleasant but not overpowering. All my clothes came out clean. I only treated stains on my toddler's clothes and I did find that in that load there were lots of bubbles on the washing machine door seal at the end. My clothes, however, were the softest they've ever been which was lovely.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would recommend it, definitely. If I had the cash I would always buy the more eco friendly products. The compact size is a bonus for both storage and carrying home from the shops if you're not using a car. The softness of the clothes is the winning point for me.

Thanks Mumsnet for selecting me for this trial, especially for the big box of packaging things which kept my toddler quiet for AGES!!

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? The product has lovely packaging and is nice to use, The smell is strong in its liquid form but nice after washing
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? The price, I would only be able to buy it when it was on offer
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? The fragrance was strong initially, but after washing it was nice, cleaning wise was brilliant and clothes were very very soft
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? I would definitely recommend it and I already have. It is great just a bit outside of my budget at the moment

shelley72 · 03/12/2012 14:36

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Nice and small, doesn't take up too much space. Was very easy to pump into the drum and less messy that our usual liquid (which i usually spill everywhere).

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Probably make it a little cheaper, although we currently pay about £7 - 8 for a 28 wash liquid so I guess not much difference actually. I would probably be more likely to stock up when on 3 for 2 as it doesnt take up much space.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I tried the 'fresh air' and the smell wasnt as strong as our usual liquid (ariel / fairy non bio)- but it smelt 'clean'. It cleaned MUCH better than I thought it would. DS came home from school on Friday with his NEW school coat absolutely caked in mud and with a suspect (felt tip?) mark all down the sleeve. Can only be washed on a cool wash and I was amazed that it came out, without pre-treating. I am v impressed Smile.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes I would, and I will be looking out for it in the shop (and in the fragrance free for DD too). Its just so easy to use, compact and washes really well
Thanks for letting me try it!

Choppelina · 03/12/2012 14:36

I've only used this for one wash but thoughts so far:

What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Like the compactness of the bottle - a bonus for a small under the sink cupboard space in our kitchen. Also thought that the pump was a great idea - means you only use as much as you need and much better than faffing about with excess packaging/crumbling tablets that drop all over the floor when you're trying to get them out.

Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
The smell (see below). Also, the bottle is pretty robust for something you're just going to chuck away at the end, and it seemed you could only recycle half of it? That said, the writing on the packaging was in French, and mine is pretty rusty!

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Not massively clean on the smell tbh - it's a bit too chemical for my liking and isn't a very comforting scent. That said, I did use five squirts as it seemed so little, so perhaps I didn't need to use as much and the scent would be more subtle. Cleaning power seems pretty good overall - it dealt with some fairly ingrained stains on a white bathmat.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I don't really tend to talk about laundry liquid in general conversation... that said, I would recommend the fact that it's so compact and you don't need much for a load of washing. I think it compares pretty favourably price-wise with the leading brands (I currently use Ariel tablets because I like the smell, and it works).

sunmoonstarstoo · 03/12/2012 15:03

I received my bottle of Method laundry liquid on Saturday and so have used it this weekend to wash the school uniform, a lot of towels and a general dark wash.

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I love the pump bottle, making measuring the amount to use very easy. The bottle is small and the amount used seems small but hopefully sufficien.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
No! I love the smell, the dosing, everything. It's maybe a bit expensive ...

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I love the fragrance and the washing came out clean, no difference to being washed with my usual detergent which is either Persil non bio or Sainsburys own non bio liquid.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would definitely recommend method laundry liquid to friends and family, because the dosing is easy and the fragrance very pleasant.

cutie101 · 03/12/2012 15:04

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

So far so good, done 3 wash loads app have come out clean and fresh and impressed with how many washes such a small bottle can do. Really like the pump, makes it easier than measuring accounts.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
No, not so far

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I quite like the fragrance, fairly fresh and inoffensive. Cleans well

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes, that I like the pump, the small size, the small amount needed

ilovesprouts · 03/12/2012 15:12

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump? i thought it was a good size to say 25 washers .
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? no fine as it is
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power? cleans very well could smell better
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? i would but some of my friends would still stick to there own brands

Choppelina · 03/12/2012 15:14

Right, clothes have now come out of the dryer; lots of people on here have been talking about how soft their clothes are having used the liquid but I have to say if it's anything it's the opposite for me: clothes are crunchier than normal and towels in particular not nearly as soft as usual. The smell is also no better when the clothes are dry - overall the things I like are:

  1. The compactness of the bottle and the pump design
  2. The fact that it's eco
But, weighed against that, the smell puts me off and the fact it hasn't made my clothes as soft as normal.
waitingforgodot · 03/12/2012 15:24

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I was surprised at how compact the packaging was(in a good way) and liked how there seemed to be little waste as the squirts were very precise

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Nope. I am very impressed so far.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I like the fragrance. Would say its just right. Not overly chemically either. It tackled my son's school uniform as well as my usual tesco non bio powder. Easier to put in the machine too as I always manage to spill powder on the floor but this bottle was great at aiming the squirts straight into the machine drawer.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not? Yes I would recommend this product as it's effective, minimises waste and works on grotty school uniforms!

worldgonecrazy · 03/12/2012 15:25

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

It's small compared to others. Also it is soooo tempting to put more than 4 squirts in. It just doesn't "feel" like I'm putting enough in.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

Price is a big factor. I think it should have big "XXXp Per Wash" when buying stuff at the supermarket, instead of "XXXp per 100ml/gr". It would make it much easier to work out.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

I like the fragrance. It's fresh without smelling artificial. Cleaning power is good, it does most household items, combined with sunlight it gets all the food stains off my DD's clothes. DH has a manual job and it doesn't get all of his clothes completely clean, but nothing short of industrial acid would get the stains out of his work trousers.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

I would recommend it, but would mention price, because I think per wash it's not too bad. I tend to stock up when it's on special offer so it doesn't work out too expensive. I adore the smell of the orange washing up liquid too.

123mon · 03/12/2012 15:28
  1. my first impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 wash pump was really good, i couldn't beleve it that the small bottle its worth 25 washes and so easy to use
  2. the only think that i would change is the price, as i find it a bit to expensive and with the price down more people would defnately buy it 3)the cleaning power is fantastic, my whites came out very good and looking new so yeah that was really good and the fragrance is nine and fresh 4)i would defenately recommend this product to everyone, and already told some of friends and family to. what would i say? the truth! its a good product, washes very well, smell nice, a bit expensive but overall worth it.... thank you for let me try the product
1950sThrowback · 03/12/2012 15:34

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Pleasantly surprised by the smell (or lack of overpowering strong smell). Ran white wash which came out fine - including pillowslip with HUGE Brown felt tip stain (teenager doing homework in bed! Angry ) - it reduced that to a much smaller pale pink stain - impressed by that. Then I had to handwash a white bath mat - general grubiness but also someone had dropped some hideous blue goo from trendy cosmetics shop on it - and WALKED IT IN. I would usually have used huge amounts of bio powder boosted with soda crystals for this one - for purposes of experiment, used "normal" dose of Methon and no soda crystals - it did ok-ish but I had to scrub hard to get it clean - if I had doubled up the dose, as I would normally have, I guess it would have been perfect. Pump was great - ie not messy - didn't drip.

[what kind of muppet has a white bath mat, I hear you ask]

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Need a few more "goes" with it, but happy so far.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Super - have husband who is so fussy about perfume smells that he insists on hanging his clothes out even if it is wet weather to get rid of smell of usual liquid I use - but he didn't bat an eyelid at this.
cleaning power - I need a few more washes to come to a decision on it, but see above for experience so far.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Suspect relatives might flinch about price, - but I was certainly happy with its performance. Love the small compact bottle. We're quite short of space in our home, so small bottle is just fine for us.

ovenglove · 03/12/2012 15:52

Q1. Fantastic packaging, love how compact product is. Slightly sceptical about getting 25 washes out of it though. Pump is so easy to use. All in all very favourable first impressions
Q2 Haven't done a white wash yet but coloureds have come out fine. It is a little pricy though.
Q3. I like the fragrance - fairly subtle which I prefer to strong washing powder smells.
Q4. Would tell people I'd tried it and would recommend to friend who has mega sensitive skin that it would be worth a go

insanityscratching · 03/12/2012 15:55

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Method Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Love the small bottle and the pump dispenser, great for storage and no mess. Couldn't believe that there could be 25 washes from there but I've done about 12 and I'm about halfway so it's obviously right.
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
I'm not keen on the fragrance tbh but I use fabric softener anyway so once washed I can't smell it anyway. Are there refills? I think that would be great.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Not keen on the fragrance tbh but the cleaning power is good particularly for non bio eco liquid
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes my friend saw it when she came round so have already recommended it to her.
Thank you for letting me take part.

TequilaMockinBird · 03/12/2012 16:35

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I thought it was really good, no mess, and a small bottle seemed to go a long way.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?

I wasn't overly keen on the smell. Not that it was awful or anything but wasn't really to my taste. Maybe it could be made with different fragrances?

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

See above re fragrance. Not a bad smell but not a particularly nice smell either IMO. The cleaning power was good, washed towels, DH's mucky work uniform and bedding. It did well on them all!

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

Yes I probably would. It seemed to be less hassle than using powder or normal liquid. Less mess too as there wasnt powder all over the floor or liquid running down the bottle. If it was made available in a range of fragrances then I'd definitely buy it too!

hytheliz · 03/12/2012 16:39

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I really like the convenient package. It's very easy to use, small and mess-free!
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
no
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I didn't notice any fragrance but clothes came out clean.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would recommend it as long as it was competitively priced with other laundry detergents.

TimeForMeAndDD · 03/12/2012 17:01

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
I love it! I love the size of the container and I really do love the pump action dispenser. No drips!

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Just the price, it's a bit too expensive for me to use on a regular basis.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I like it. My laundry came out smelling clean, not overpowered by fragrance.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes, I would. I would rave about the pump action because I really do like that. I also noticed there was no residue in the washing machine dispenser drawer which is good. My clothes came out of the wash not only smelling clean but feeling clean too so I would rave about all that. I wouldn't mention the price, I would let them make up their own mind Wink

Thank you for the opportunity to test.

PurpleKittyKnitting · 03/12/2012 17:13

What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
good small packaging, hard to think so many washes are in the bottle. Very easy to use. I have never used a liquid before for my washing

Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
it is probably more than double what I currently pay for my tablets so not something I could regularly get, only if it was on offer

What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
I didn't like the smell when I smelt it in the bottle, but when the washing was done, I noticed it and found it quite pleasant. So far only done 3 loads, towels, a darks and a specials/delicates. No heavy stains on anything so can't say too much about that but items are clean enough

If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
I would have to let them know the price as it can often be a factor in whether or not to get it, but I would say how easy it is to use, and less mess. With the tablets I use, I always like to make sure they are all dissolved properly as occasionly they don't, so I stand until the water is going in the drawer and break them up (prodding with an old DS stylus!) to make sure they are all going in, so with this I no longer need to do it

Bullseyealpha · 03/12/2012 17:13

Used it on 3 loads so far and it is good - I like the ability to control the dose according to how dirty the laundry is or how full the machine is which I can't do with the liqui tabs I normally use. It smells better and washes cleaner than Ecover and the other eco brand I tried. The only thing I didn't like was that it didn't completely shift the bloodstain on a top when used as a pre treating cleaner, not as good as Vanish for this job. Agree with the other comments about the need for a a refill bag/pouch to reduce packaging (and cost!!!) In France the equivilent laundry product has a handy soft plastic brush attached to the head for pre treating stains with a gentle scrub, that would be useful. I would recommend it definitely over other eco brands and would be tempted to continue to use it

PurpleKittyKnitting · 03/12/2012 17:13

Oh, and many thanks for letting me try it out!

poppy1973 · 03/12/2012 18:18

Thanks for sending this to me to test.

I tested the liquid out at the weekend on a couple of washes and here is what I thought about it:

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?

I thought the bottle was a little too small, not sure of the price in the shops !! I like the idea of pumping a small amount into the dispenser drawer of the washing machine - that is a good idea. I like the idea that is eco friendly - great hopefully for the environment.

Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid? The size of the bottle would concern me - especially if I had to use 6-7 squirts of liquid in every wash. There isn't a lot of liquid left now due to my washing loads - so not sure if it would last me very long. There was no mention of whether or not the liquid was suitable for septic tanks. I used this in mine but normally I would be a little concerned about the amount of phosphates and whether or not I can safely use the product in my septic tank.

Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?

I liked the fragrance - it had a nice fresh smell. I had to use 6 squirts of liquid for the first wash and in the second wash used 7 squirts as I have extremely hard water and did a large wash. It brought the washing up clean and smelled nice. It did leave one small P.E. dirt stain - I will try and wash again and this time soak the shirt first time.

Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?

It depends on the price and how much the item is in the shops to the size of the bottle. It needs to be priced correctly in this current market to attract the customer.

vole3 · 03/12/2012 18:38

Q1 What was your overall impression of the Methon Laundry Liquid 25 Wash Pump?
Loved the compact size, ease of use and economy - DS likes putting the liquid in the drawer (& on the floor!)
Q2 Is there anything you'd change about Method Laundry Liquid?
Like the idea of a refill pouch as bottle very sturdy.
Q3 What did you think of the fragrance? And the cleaning power?
Fragrance pleasant, used a squirt to rub in where hot chocolate got spilt on the duvet and it came out first time.
Q4 If it came up in conversation, do you think you would recommend Method Laundry Liquid to a friend/relative or not? If so, what would you say about it? If not, why not?
Yes I would, but depends on price. I tend to get what is on offer out of my preferred brands as do lots of washing, but if it compares price wise will not take up much space if I decide to stock up .
