This thread is for the 100 MNers who have been trying out Dettol's new Power and Pure range, either in their bathroom or their kitchen. Please answer the questions below but feel free to add any other comments too. Dettol is keen to hear what (if anything!) your DC think of the products you've been testing - so please add any comments they've made too!

Please also remember to state whether you've been testing the kitchen or bathroom products in your response.

I trialed the Kitchen Spray and Bathroom wipes.
1. What was your overall impression of the Dettol Power and Pure products you tried? What did you like the most about the range? Was there anything you didn't like?
I did like the products, packaging was nice, looked a quality product, however, there was not much difference between the bathroom and kitchen packaging, which may cause confusion. Also, I prefer flushable wipes in the bathroom, for hygiene reasons.

2. Did you feel Dettol Power and Pure gave a powerful clean or not? How did it compare to other cleaning products you use?
The kitchen wipes worked really well, the bathroom wipes were not really any better than the ones I already use.

3. What did you think of the smell? Do you think it smells less 'bleachy' than other cleaning products you use or not? Did you notice any difference in terms of there being any chemical residue being left behind compared to others?
I really liked the smell, but was a bit worried at first it waould "taint" food if I used it in places such as the microwave. No problems as yet though.

4. Did you use Dettol Power and Pure in any areas of your home that you would not usually use a powerful cleaning product? If so, where?
Not really, no

5. Do you think you would use Dettol Power and Pure cleaning products again? If so why? If not, why not?
I would use the kitchen spray again, or maybe even try the wipes. I prefer my current bathroom wipes, as they are flushable, this makes them easier and more hygenic to use in the bathroom, in my opinion.

I have already recommended the kitchen spray!!

I tried the bathroom spray and the kitchen wipes.

Kitchen Wipes - The wipes seemed quite wet and soapy compared to others I have tried. Thought I may have to wipe some of the suds off, but they went, leaving a nice shine. I also liked the smell

Bathroom Spray - Liked the packaging and performance. Did not like the "spurt" factor though. Did not cover much surface with each pull of the trigger. Would prefer it in a spray. If you had a large bathroom think you would get bit fed up trying to cover it all

Kitchen Wipes - They cleaned as well as other wipes I have tried, but no better. They did leave a nice smear free finish though which others don't seem to.

Bathroom Spray - This did a very good job. Was esp. impressed at getting rid of water marks on taps which I normally have to resort to Viakal for. Also left a lovely shine

Both - Yes - def. less chemical type smell. Just left nice clean smell rather than an "I have just bleached the bathroom/kitchen to within an inch of their lives" type smell. So smearing with the wipes

If the price is comparable to what I normally use, then I would use both of these products.

If I every find myself discussing cleaning products with a friend I will go and have a nice lie down! - If anyone asked how I got my taps so shiny then I would tell them though.

Liked the packaging (although the kitchen and bathroom range looked very similar however expect in theory you could use either product in either of the rooms if you needed to) I liked the smell, but I do like strong smelling cleaning products (maybe makes DH realise that I have been cleaning and not mn'ing all day!)

Bathroom spray I was sent was good, got rid of the usual tidemark after the girls had been in the bath (on Sunday when it was wet and horrible and they had been riding at the stables so were plastered in mud) I am always dubious of any product that says 'spray, leave and wipe away' although it did do the job I would always wipe with a cleaning sponge to ensure all areas of the bath etc got some cleaning product on it. The kitchen wipes were good but had to use several to clean all the worktops and cupboard doors/handles so not sure it would be that cost effective in the long term (my food/house shop keeps going up sadly my salary hasn't)

Def less bleachy and I liked the smell of the bathroom spray, was def more 'fresh' than some of the supermarket own brands. Didn't notice a significant smell from the wipes. The wipes did leave residue on my black worktops that i needed dry worktops with kitchen roll after the kitchen wipe to prevent happening.

No I am OCD about cleaning so most of the house is polished, bleached, sprayed on a regular basis (did use teh bathroom cleaner on the painted wall on the landing where dd2 has kindly deposited a chocolate handprint but that was because it was in the bottle and cloth were in my hands as just finished cleaning bathroom than intentionally using the product)

Yes but depending on cost (see point 2) for the kitchen I often buy Wilkinson kitchen wipes as cheap and do the job (and my worktops are wiped several times a day)

Def bathroom spray as it cleaned well, smelled nice and didn't leave bleach smell, not sure I would recommend the wipes unless they were on special offer/priced reasonably

I really liked the result of the bathroom spray, as it left the bath tub shiny. I didn't really like the wipes for the kitchen, as they were a bit small for larger areas, and it also left smears on the tiles.

Yes I think it did, it was like a quick wipe off clean, rather than lots of scrubbing.

I couldn't smell any bleach, the smell was very fresh.

I used the kitchen wipes on the kettle, it was easy to clean and I liked the results. I usually use window and glass spray on the kettle for a good shine.

Yes if they were on offer or reasonable priced.

oops, I didn't mention I got the kitchen wipes too. HAve only used a few of them so far, but they are very good!

I had the Kitchen Spray and bathroom wipes

1.Overall the kitchen spray cleaned well and did not leave streaks or smears I used it to clen my range cooker and it performed well. The bathroom wipes were a bit smaller than my usual brand of wipes but they cleaned well and smelled fresh.

2.Yes they cleaned well but no more than my usual brand.

3.At first I thought the spray smelled great really fresh and pleasant however after a while I found it very overpowering and it aggravated my asthma making me wheeze it had far too much perfume in it. I was wary therefore using it on my baby's highchair table etc.

4.I cleaned the window sills using the product and it did a good job.

5.I would use the bathroom wipes but not the kitchen spray as the smell is far too overpowering.

6.No I do not tend to discuss kitchen cleaning products with my friends.

OMG HolyCalamityJane - someone else who is affected by the smell. I feel less wierd now - does Febreze have the same effect [nosy]?

The kitchen wipes do a great job on grease etc. they smell lovely too. I am very happy about the multisurface use for the bathroom cleaner. To have one product for tiles/tub/taps and glass (and not just smear the glass) is brilliant.

Yes, it seemed to handle grease and soap/lime scale pretty well with not much scrubbing. No more than anything else I've used (and the wipes seem to be better than any other I've tried)

Did you notice any difference in terms of there being any chemical residue being left behind compared to others? The smell is great for the wipes, almost like fabric conditioner. The bathroom spray was a bit stronger, but by no means bleachy or unpleasant. No residue issues. Some wipes leave a bit of a film, and usually use a scouring cleanser in the barroom which leaves a powdery film, so great improvement.

I absolutely love the range. I especially like the spray, no need to rinse is perfect. I did all 3 bathrooms in no time at all and they looked and spelt great. I have used the wipes in the kitchen every day since receiving them, they are strong and clean up even dried on stains with no problem. Both products have made my life much easier!

Yes. I found the products easier to use and they work much faster than my normal cleaning products.

I thought the smell is great especially on the spray, my bathrooms smell fresh but not clinical. The wipes are totally inoffensive too.

I used the wipes to clean the wooden door in the kitchen as my son had managed to wipe bolognese on it and it wiped away first wipe.

Yes, I am happily surprised that they are lasting longer than I expected. I will definitely be replacing them when they run out.

Yes, I have already recommended them to my mum as they take the hassle out of cleaning!

A good time for these products as I have been unwell for a couple of weeks and cleaning has been minimal. I have had a really good cleaning session today and have given them a good test!

I got bathroom spray and kitchen wipes.

Bathroom Spray - I liked the packaging and thought the instructions were clear although it doesn't mention if it can be used on enamel baths.
It gave a good clean to the sink, tiles and shower. I was particularly impressed with the shower as I hate cleaning it. The main advantage is no need to rinse so no need to get soaked doing so!

I thought the spray could have been finer. It seemed to spray out a lot at once. A finer mist would have been better and would cover a larger area.

Kitchen wipes - I thought they did a good job of cleaning the tiles and around the sink and work surfaces.

I thought they were too small though and felt I needed more than one at a time.

The packaging was easy to read and easy to open.

They did give a good clean, particularly the spray. The sink and taps are very clean.

I think it was probably better than what I normally use as it did seem to dissolve the soap and remove dirt.

I didn't notice a bleach smell at all. It smells very fresh and clean without leaving a chemical odour.

I would buy the spray and use it, however, I would not buy the wipes. I don't like using wipes as I think they are expensive, I would rather just use a spray and cloth or kitchen paper.

Yes I would as I think it cleaned really well and didn't leave an unpleasant smell.

i had the kitchen spray & bathroom wipes ,i love the smell, very clean smelling iykwim leaves the work tops shiny but not slimy like so do.

i thought it cleaned the work tops very well it even removed blackcurrant juice without any scrubbing at all.

no residue left and a fresh clean smell after use i didnt think it smelt of bleach at all

I really liked both products. The packaging was simple and clean-looking and the light colours reinforced the "pure" angle of the product. I loved the smell! Really fresh and light. What I liked most was that the fresh smell also came with really good cleaning power. There was nothing I didn't like.

I have tried a lot of different products and end up going back to bleach-based products but this product gave me the cleaning power I want but without the after-smell!

I think my previous answers show that I loved the smell! No trace of bleach and no sign of residue.

I used one of the kitchen wipes to clean my hands after painting and it didn't irritate or dry my skin - bonus.

I would definitely use these products again, as long as they are not priced so high it makes no economic sense.

Overall impression was very good. I liked the fragrance and the effectiveness of the products. There was nothing I did not like.

It gave me a very powerful clean without leaving behind an overpowering smell or greasy residue. I felt confident enough about the product to let the children play/eat on the table just after I had cleaned it using the wipes. The bathroom spray was super effective and my sink, bath and taps all looked sparkling for several days after I had used them. Definitely an improvement on my usual cleaner.

The smell was very pleasant, probably my favourite cleaning product so far. I did not notice any residue, in fact that was one of the things that appealed after using for the first time.

We spilt some soil on the laminate flooring and my daughter used a kitchen wipe to clean it up. I would not normally do that as wipes often leave behind a slippery and therefore dangerous residue. The wipes cleaned the mess without leaving the floor slippery or greasy.

Yes, I absolutely would use these again. Cleaning took less time and the results were fantastic.

i used the kitchen one, i really liked this it smelt lovely and fresh without smelling like bleach and i was really impressed with how moist the wipes stayed and how they did not rip very easily.

i felt it did clean alot better, it seemed to spray alot longer and spread out a bit better if that makes any sense, plus the wipes seemed to go alot further then most.

there did not seem to be any residue chemical or otherwise left behind after they seemed to dry quite nicely. The smell was quite nice and fresh and definately didnt smell bleachy.

yes i would definately use the wipes again depending on the price as i do like to use alot of cleaning wipes on pretty much everything, its the lazy cleaning way to do it, which is very appealing to me, especially as the wipes stay moist and seem to clean alot more then most do.

i would if they asked but again it would depend on the price of them as i dont think many of my friends and family would pay alot for cleaning wipes.

I was using the Bathroom wipes and Kitchen spray.

I loved the products, both smelt fresh and clean. The trigger of the spray wasn't flimsy and sprayed nicely, which makes me sound like a weirdo but I appreciated it!!

I usually use a rival brand of cleaning products in my home and found these to be superior. The wipes weren't too 'wet' which is great. I find it highly annoying, as my bathroom has no ventilation so dusty, when the wipes leave the surfaces wet and streaky.

Definitely less bleachy. didn't really have a chemical/product smell to it, was fresher and crisp? I found NO residue which was great as that was one of my reasons for asking to take part, everything seems to leave my worktops with a slimey bleachy coating but this spray didn't.

I most definitely will. Am nervous of finding out the price as I loved using them and will be disappointed if they're alot more than my usual brand, however, I'd probably still buy them as they were superior.

I was sent cleaning wipes for Kitchen and a bathroom spray.

1. What was your overall impression of the Dettol Power and Pure products you tried? What did you like the most about the range? Was there anything you didn't like? I liked the smell the best, the wipes are so lovely, a really pleasant smell! I like they are more a healthy version with desolving into oxygen sounds better for the family. Nothing I did not like.

It seemed to work well, it got rid of the soap marks from a soap my boys destroyed and was left in hardened little chunks all around the sink. Usually it would be hard to shift but the spray really did help!

Definately not bleachy at all, really lovely smell one I would happily use again just to enjoy whiffing it whilst I get on with the miserable task of cleaning!

I think so yes, as I like they are more gentle sounding with the pleasant smell, changing to oxygen claims and I was not irrated by the product, usually the back of my throat can be hurting after a big cleaning session nothing with these lovelies.

nice clean, fresh looking packaging, as befits a cleaning product. I liked the smell, and the packaging was good, but the best thing was how effective the bathroom spray was (see below). I wasn't so impressed with the actual spray function, as it just kind of gobbed over my sink, not giving a nice even spray. I therefore felt I had to use a lot more of it than anticipated.

DS is only 2.5 but was very excited by the spray, and wanted to use it himself - he commented on the 'scoosh scoosh' but I suspect he was more excited to see his mother cleaning for once than anything else.

I was fully prepared to be unimpressed, but WOW the bathroom spray was incredible! scooshed it onto my sink yesterday whilst DS was in the bath, and wiped it off 5 minutes later to be almost blinded by the sparkle. Since we live in a very hard water area, I am pretty gobsmacked at how easily this stuff removed the limescale, especially since none of my regular cleaning products do it without a lot of elbow grease. even DH was impressed, and he never normally notices if the bathroom has been cleaned - but last night he was asking what witchcraft I had used to get the taps so sparkly. I almost felt like a good housewife for a minute or two.

the kitchen wipes were ok, but tbh no different from baby wipes in efficacy.

smell is nice, inoffensive, and therefore perfect for sensitive pregnant ladies! first cleaning product I've used for a while that didn't make me wretch. I did notice that there was a lot of foam to wash away with the bathroom spray - and that was a bit annoying, but obviously worth it. there was certainly smearing left from the kitchen wipes.

yes, the bathroom spray definitely. I am not totally convinced about a 1% H2O2 solution being child safe, and as DS keeps licking the bath and sink I will still have to rinse in these areas, but for the quality of the clean, I would definitely be using it again. Not the kitchen wipes though - they feel flimsy and are no better than a pack of huggies wipes.
