Q1 What was your overall impression of the product? Did you enjoy eating them or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
I liked them very much! More filling than 'airy' crisps, but not as greasy as standard potato crisps- lovely.

Q2 How would you describe Sunbites to a friend who didn't know what they were?
Delicious crunchy wholemeal crisps that looked like tiny lilos!

Q3 Which flavour did you like the most? Are there any other flavours you'd like to see in the range?
I liked the chilli ones the most. Not overly keen on the onion and rosemary though, found them a bit powdery and sickly.

Q4 Thinking about Sunbites in comparison to other snacks, can you think of one feature which makes Sunbites different? If so, what is it?
Much less greasy, but more filling.

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Sunbites to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, I would. Great range of flavours, and just yummy!

JambalayaCodfishPie · 06/09/2011 18:58

Really liked these - not had them before.

Was expecting them to be thicker, like Ryvita Minis, so was pleasantly surprised.

Favourite flavours were the sea salted, and onion and rosemary - would definitely but the salted ones again. Smile

DD(7) preferred the salted ones too.

DPs favourites were the Sweet Chilli.

Instinctivemum · 06/09/2011 18:59

Still hasn't come Sad starving & spending hard earned £££ on unhealthy crisps !

Tequilamockinbird · 06/09/2011 19:02

Q1 What was your overall impression of the product? Did you enjoy eating them or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, we shared them out around the 3 of us and all of us enjoyed eating them. Although there didnt seem to be many in a pack, we could have ate a couple of bags each Blush

Q2 How would you describe Sunbites to a friend who didn't know what they were?

Like crisps but lighter. A bit like Doritos but more airy and not as filling.

Q3 Which flavour did you like the most? Are there any other flavours you'd like to see in the range?

Sea salt was my favourite, DD liked Cheddar and Onion, DH liked Sweet Chilli. The Onion and Rosemary weren't liked by any of us, far too much Rosemary and not enough Onion, in our opinion.

Q4 Thinking about Sunbites in comparison to other snacks, can you think of one feature which makes Sunbites different? If so, what is it?

They are healthier. Although as others have said, not as healthy as I expected them to be when compared to normal walkers.

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Sunbites to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would recommend them. At least you can eat a bag of crisps without feeling as guilty Wink

SueFlay · 06/09/2011 19:07

MINE ARE HERE

High praise: They have joined my list of the few things I can currently eat without hurling (am 9 weeks pg)

Were you looking for a quote, Walkers? You're welcome Wink

Comprehensive review will follow when I've scoffed the lot.

missmuddle · 06/09/2011 19:32

Q1 What was your overall impression of the product? Did you enjoy eating them or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Very nice but the falvours need to be slightly stronger except sour cream and chive, packaging attractive, texture good
Liked the packaging.

All 5 of us tried and enjoyed all flavours except sour cream

Q2 How would you describe Sunbites to a friend who didn't know what they were?

healthier crisps/ less greasy than crisps

good for dipping

Q3 Which flavour did you like the most? Are there any other flavours you'd like to see in the range?

Onion and rosemary
tomato and garlic
marmite

Q4 Thinking about Sunbites in comparison to other snacks, can you think of one feature which makes Sunbites different? If so, what is it?

bit more like a cracker than a crisps

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Sunbites to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes we really liked them and fells a bit healthier than normal crisps

Would like a thicker crisp in bigger bags as they would be brilliant for dips

Abecedarium · 06/09/2011 19:35

Thank you for sending these. We don't really buy crisps in this house, but I do keep a tube of pringles, easier to dole out just a few without them going off. Anyway, given that DD doesn't often see a crisp she naturally thought they were nice! She said "they are better than Pringles because the ridges are more the right size". So there you go.

Overall I liked the wheaty taste and the fact they weren't greasy. They were very sweet however, too sweet and they do have lots of sugar in, obviously compensating for the fat. I object slightly to the 'ooh look at our lovely natural product' packet design. They are not from nature, they are a crisp!!

Cheddar: Good strong aroma, far too sweet - even for cheddar.
Onion & Rosemary: Again too sweet, rosemary was quite strong, the onion in the aftertaste.
Sweet Chill: Very disappointing aroma, no real taste, just chilli aftertaste.
Sea-salted: Certainly lightly salted, bit uneven in the covering which is important with such a light taste, quite liked them though.
Sour Cream: Very vinegary aroma, black pepper taste and heat quite evident.

I would describe them as a Wheat Crunchie ironed out into a Frazzle - but with pretentions of healthiness. I wouldn't recommend them, but then I wouldn't recommend a crisp full-stop.

Bonkerz · 06/09/2011 19:43

Q1 What was your overall impression of the product? Did you enjoy eating them or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

overall impression was that they looked like a healthier snack (smaller packet, pale colours indicate lighter on calories possibly) Im always wary of things that look different and was worried i wouldnt like them BUT i was actually quite surprised! The texture suprised me, more like a tortilla chip than a crisp. My 5 year old DD enjoyed dipping the salt ones in her humous!!!!!

Q2 How would you describe Sunbites to a friend who didn't know what they were?
a feel good crisp alternative!

Q3 Which flavour did you like the most? Are there any other flavours you'd like to see in the range?

I enjoyed the salted ones but mainly because they were a great texture for dipping and a good alternative to tortilla chips! the cheesy ones were slightly too strong for me leaving an aftertaste but it wasnt unpleasent just strong. Would like to try a chicken or beefy flavour i think.

Q4 Thinking about Sunbites in comparison to other snacks, can you think of one feature which makes Sunbites different? If so, what is it?

I think just the knowledge that its better for me than standard crisps

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Sunbites to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not? yes, i think i would recommend as a nibble for a party etc.

ChristWhatNow · 06/09/2011 20:21

Q1 What was your overall impression of the product? Did you enjoy eating them or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Liked them - light, crunchy and tasty.

Q2 How would you describe Sunbites to a friend who didn't know what they were?
Wholegrain crisps.

Q3 Which flavour did you like the most? Are there any other flavours you'd like to see in the range?
Sour cream were my favourite flavour. Feel that more meaty ones might complement the range.

Q4 Thinking about Sunbites in comparison to other snacks, can you think of one feature which makes Sunbites different? If so, what is it?
The wholegrain element.

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Sunbites to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would recommend them, on the basis that I liked them because they were crunchy and tasty and felt sligjtly better for me than normal crisps.

mancbird · 06/09/2011 20:28

Q1

Really liked these. They were very tasty and unusual flavours.

Q2

Healthy lunchtime snacks

Q3
I liked all the flavours but my favourite was the onion and rosemary one :)

Q4

Really light and not greasy. Made from wholegrains so better for you than other snacks.

Q5

Yes I would definitely recommend these as they were tasty and come in a good range of flavours. Also if you are trying to be healthier they are a good choice :)

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 06/09/2011 20:32

Doh - think the Postman tried to deliver ours today but I was out collecting ds1 from school. I won't get to the PO to collect them until Saturday now I'm afraid.

chocoroo · 06/09/2011 20:35

Okay....scoffed them all :)

  1. My overall impression is that they were a very tasty low fat snack. I'm dieting at the moment and they fit in as a lunch accompaniment or a snack which is great. DP can inhale them though so would appreciate a sharing/large pack. They gave me the crunch I need (I crave savoury foods) without being too bad for me.

  2. a low fat savoury snack. Guilt free crisps.

  3. enjoyed the Sea Salt and Mature Chedder flavours the most. Have had the rosemary ones before and really enjoyed them too. I actually think sweet chilli was the worst flavour, but could be a good Saturday night X Factor snack (again, if the pack was bigger!)

  4. I think Sunbites are really, really savoury. I always miss the cnchif I eat something like rice cakes.

  5. I'd definitely recommend them

chocoroo · 06/09/2011 20:36

PS. DP would like to suggest a prawn cocktail flavour.

RueDeWakening · 06/09/2011 20:58

Right, have tried the lot now...

Q1 What was your overall impression of the product? Did you enjoy eating them or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

We all definitely enjoyed them, some flavours more than others though. I liked the texture, really crunchy crisps, so quite satisfying to eat.

I liked the packaging, the colours and stuff.

We've tried the onion & rosemary flavour of these once before, quite a while ago, but couldn't remember what they were - they turned up when Tesco accidentally delivered us an extra tray of shopping one week and I didn't pay much attention to what the stuff was before we ate it all.

Q2 How would you describe Sunbites to a friend who didn't know what they were?

Crunchy, wholewheat crisps.

Q3 Which flavour did you like the most? Are there any other flavours you'd like to see in the range?

DH liked the chilli flavour best. I liked the sour cream ones, closely followed by onion & rosemary. DD (age 4) liked "everything about all the flavours" :D DS (age 1) doesn't talk much yet, he ate all the flavours but handed me back a half-eaten salted crisp so I assume he didn't like that one much!

Other flavours I'd like to try: plain cheese flavour (like the Dorito's ones, or Quavers). Paprika or similar.

Q4 Thinking about Sunbites in comparison to other snacks, can you think of one feature which makes Sunbites different? If so, what is it?

They're crunchier than any other crisps I've eaten! I think they'd be really nice with a dip of some sort, too.

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Sunbites to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?

I can't imagine it coming up in conversation, I don't talk about crisps much...but OK, if it did I probably would recommend them, as I do like them (and can fool myself that they're healthy...ish).

2tired2bewitty · 06/09/2011 21:06

Have finally extracted ours from the clutches of the post office, will report back presently...

5inthebed · 06/09/2011 21:17

Q1 What was your overall impression of the product? Did you enjoy eating them or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Packaging was nice and bright. The sunbites themselves where a funky shape, a different texture to what I am used to. I enjoyed the crispiness of them, a lot of low fat snacks have either a cardboard texture or are not crunchy enough. Neither the case with the sunbites. The flavours as well were very nice, not overpowering.

Q2 How would you describe Sunbites to a friend who didn't know what they were?

Square wavey crisp type snack. A bit between a crisp and a ryvita. Nice flavours, enough for a quick savoury fix.

Q3 Which flavour did you like the most? Are there any other flavours you'd like to see in the range?

Strangely enough, cheddar and caramalised onions, which is a flavour I usually avoid. I was apprehensive about the rosemary ones, but they were ok as well. Perhaps a salt and vinegar flavour would be nice, nice strong sharp vinegar though. I wasn't keen on the sour cream and black pepper, tastedd too sweet to be a savoury snack.

Q4 Thinking about Sunbites in comparison to other snacks, can you think of one feature which makes Sunbites different? If so, what is it?

The texture is enjoyable. I like how they were crispy, but seemed to crumble into your mouth.

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Sunbites to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, especially if friend was on a diet.

katz · 06/09/2011 21:35

Q1 What was your overall impression of the product? Did you enjoy eating them or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

They looked god and We all enjoyed them (DH, DD1-8 and DD2-6), they are tasty and crunchy

Q2 How would you describe Sunbites to a friend who didn't know what they were?

Like crisps but different!

Q3 Which flavour did you like the most? Are there any other flavours you'd like to see in the range?

I liked the Cheddar and caramelised onion and would like to see salt and vineagar ones

Q4 Thinking about Sunbites in comparison to other snacks, can you think of one feature which makes Sunbites different? If so, what is it?

They are tasty, not greasey unlike normal crisps.

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Sunbites to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?

Possibly although can't see it coming up in conversation

feckymcfeckedoff · 06/09/2011 21:43

Yes enjoyed eating them (all Grin), liked the packet design and most of the flavours and it felt like guilt free crisp eating. The only downsides were that they seem a bit too crunchy and kind of shattered in the mouth and I wanted to eat more than one pack at a time...maybe because it felt like guilt free crisp eating.

I'd describe them as a healthyish alternative to crisps that were baked not fried and quite tasty.

I liked the sour cream and black pepper and the chili ones, wasn't so keen on the cheddar ones.

The difference for me is that they are wholegrain.

I'd recommend them to a friend as they are a bit different to crisps and could be seen a a bit healthier.

Tigerbomb · 06/09/2011 21:52

Q1 What was your overall impression of the product? Did you enjoy eating them or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
I liked the look of the packets, very subtle and the colours seeed to go with the flavours

Q2 How would you describe Sunbites to a friend who didn't know what they were?
Taste like flavoured ryveta's

Q3 Which flavour did you like the most? Are there any other flavours you'd like to see in the range?
Cheddar and Onion was the best. The slightly salted ones were very bland which was a shame as |Ready salted are my favourite crisps

Q4 Thinking about Sunbites in comparison to other snacks, can you think of one feature which makes Sunbites different? If so, what is it?
They tasted healthy

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Sunbites to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?

  • I would say they are worth a try. Especially if said friends were trying to be healthier

Thanks for the opportunity of trying them out

HelloMama · 06/09/2011 22:01

What a lovely treat to receive in the post! Had to pick them up from the post-office and my work colleagues were very jealous that I had had
snacks delivered !

Q1 thought the packing was good- quite sophisticated for what is basically a packet of crisps. They appealed to me and i thought the message about added wholesomeness came across strongly. I don't normally eat crisps, but they were very yummy- seemed a bit like a bit of a treat.

Q2 i would describe them as healthy crisps- almost a bit like a nacho chip but lighter!

Q3 I liked the sour cream flavour. Thought they were quite sweet tasting, but that's not necessarily a bad thing!

Q4 the texture of sunbites is quite different and as a non crisp fan, I enjoyed this. They were lighter in texture and had a 'healthier' appeal than normal crisp products.

Q5 I would definitely tell a friend that I had tried them and enjoyed them and i would buy them as a pre-dinner party snack if they came in larger pack sizes as I think my group of friends would enjoy them!

I'm sorry but my kids didn't get to eat any although I shared them around at work amongst a bunch of hungry nurses and drs... (HelloMama hopes that redeems the guilt of not taking the box of snacks home to share with the family...!)

FannyFifer · 06/09/2011 22:09

Q1 What was your overall impression of the product? Did you enjoy eating them or not? If so, why? If not, why not?
Packaging looked nice, quite grown up looking snacks. Enjoyed eating them, I love savoury snacks in general.

Q2 How would you describe Sunbites to a friend who didn't know what they were?
Small crispy crunchy, nice flavoured snack, bit like a Ryvita.

Q3 Which flavour did you like the most? Are there any other flavours you'd like to see in the range?
Cheddar and caramalised onion were my favourite, followed by the Rosemary one. The salted one tasted of nothing at all really. Would like a spicy type flavour.

Q4 Thinking about Sunbites in comparison to other snacks, can you think of one feature which makes Sunbites different? If so, what is it?

They were pretty non greasy which was good.

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Sunbites to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?
Maybe would mention I had been trying them and which ones I liked.

Buriedundernappies · 06/09/2011 22:26
  1. Me and DP loved eating them. We enjoyed original flavour of sunbites, so were both expecting good things and we weren't disappointed.

  2. A Healthy alternative to crisps.

3)My favourite was the Chilli flavour, but also really enjoyed the Lightly salted one as well.

4)Less greasy, and much healthier than other crisps. I would be hapy to give my 14 month old a few out of my packet, whereas I wouldn't with a standard packet of crisps.

5)Yes I would reccommend Sunbites, because they're healthy, tasty and a range of flavours to suite most people.

iklboo · 06/09/2011 22:32

Slightly off topic - do they plan to do mixed multi bags? I've seen single flavour multi bags in shops. Mixed flavours would be great.

SometimesIAmABirdbrain · 06/09/2011 22:49

lovely postie delivered them just as we were about to set off on a longish car journey so DH and I scoffed all the packets on the way, with ample time to discuss the flavours with DH

loved the sweet chilli ones the most, the salted ones the least (but i generally dont like that particular flavour anyway). would like more in a packet though. feels like it took a few seconds to eat. would be nice to have more in it. Like the wholegrain element and the fact that they are ridged with more of a bite to it - never quite got into the thin original walker crisps.

branding name is good - evokes sunny, mediterranean feeling. packaging not too bad either, although could have been a bit brighter - fades into the background when browsing in the supermarket.

conclusion - yes, would recommend and would purchase. bigger packs and multi-bags please.

hairypotter · 06/09/2011 23:20

Q1 What was your overall impression of the product? Did you enjoy eating them or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Good overall impression, nice packaging. A bit different than most other types of snacks. My only gripe would be that there really isn't many crisps in a bag. Fairly low in calories but possibly down to size of contents

Q2 How would you describe Sunbites to a friend who didn't know what they were?

Lighter than normal crisps, crunchy wholewheat.

Q3 Which flavour did you like the most? Are there any other flavours you'd like to see in the range?

Surprisingly I liked the sour cream ones best. Not usually a fan of this flavour but these were really tasty. Enjoyed all the other flavours apart from the onion and Rosemary, I was expecting to like these the best but didn't really like the strong taste of the herb. I would like to see salt and vinegar and beef and mustard or perhaps horseradish.

Q4 Thinking about Sunbites in comparison to other snacks, can you think of one feature which makes Sunbites different? If so, what is it?

Probably the crunchy texture.

Q5 If it came up in conversation, do you think you'd recommend Sunbites to your friends? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would recommend them but would tell friend that one bag isn't enough. Buy multi pack and eat them all at once like me
