Hello. We're extremely honoured (and just a little bit over-excited) to announce that royal bride-to-be Kate Middleton is coming to MNHQ for a webchat today at 1pm.

A while back, we put in a formal request for Kate to take part in a Mumsnet webchat (nothing ventured, nothing gained and all that) but, truth be told, we weren't that hopeful, given her other pressing engagements this week.

But then, this morning, the Buckingham Palace Press Office rang to say Miss Middleton had some time this lunchtime between her last dress fitting and her first palace-balcony-etiquette briefing - and would be delighted to drop in and chat to Mumsnetters. Apparently, she's been lurking on Mumsnet quite a lot recently and has been finding the Bridezilla discussions a real eye opener. Shock

So, quick, please post your (suitably deferential) questions for Miss Middleton here - and join us for our very first royal webchat at 1pm.

Kate....you do know I have danced with your husband to be? I expect he has told you all about it.

But you do need to teach him how to dance. It wasn't a good look he was sporting. Really. Grin

Don'tdoitKatie - I said previously I wouldn't comment on my family further, but thank you for your question.

To answer your others:

  • also do you really think it's a good idea for a smart young 21st century woman to be propping up a heteropatriarchal institution like royal marriage?

I think the Windsors are remarkably progressive. The Queen is after all a woman and a strong woman at that.

  • dont' you think you're setting a bad example to small girls everywhere, promoting marriage and being a princess as a female achievement? There has to be more to life than sparkly tiaras and taking a man's name.

Indeed there is more to life than sparkly tiaras. Would you say the achievements of other members of the Royal Family, for example the late Princess of Wales, were all in vain then. From my position I can do a lot of good in the world and if little girls grow up wishing to be active within their country and the wider world, so much the better in my (very humble) opinion. :)

I take it the apologies from MNHQ was not genuine if they are continuing to allow "MissKateMiddleton" to reply here. Shame on you Justine etc. Feels like you are taking the piss of us all now.

IslaValargeone · 26/04/2011 13:31

Oh God I'm cringeing.

GypsyMoth · 26/04/2011 13:32

Thingumy · 26/04/2011 13:32

FAIL.

PatientGriselda · 26/04/2011 13:33

Dear FakeKate, Please can you find out when and when not to use "one"? It's really annoying.

FriggFRIGG · 26/04/2011 13:33

its like a car crash....

MissKateMiddleton · 26/04/2011 13:33

kuckingfunt - intriguing name by the way :)

Wills is an excellent dancer - I have danced with him on many occasions. Perhaps may I suggest your styles were very different? I have danced with many men who are said to be good dancers but have found them clunky. which is why it is so lovely to dance with Wills by comparison.

BalloonSlayer · 26/04/2011 13:33

Don't get this...

if the replies are supposed to be someone pretending to be KM for a joke, why aren't they funny? Why are they just anodyne nothings?

As a joke the replies are about as successful as David Brent's funny dance.

ZacharyQuack · 26/04/2011 13:33

FakeKate is taking this a bit too seriously....

capecath - What a lovely story. I hope my wedding day will be as lovely as yours were and wish your husband many happy returns for Friday. I hope you are getting him a cake (chocolate is best) :)

GypsyMoth · 26/04/2011 13:35

an hour??!!

Psammead · 26/04/2011 13:36

Don't pick on FakeKate- it's not her fault that this has gone tits up.

Mumsnet were bound to put a foot wrong at some point. Let's just see how they deal with it now.

Pulling this chat would be good.

FriggFRIGG · 26/04/2011 13:36

its just weird now....Confused

kuckingfunt · 26/04/2011 13:36

Kate - will shall agree to disagree!! And why didn't you attend the Officers knees up at RAF Valley? We could have spent the evening getting pissed aquainted.
