Honest question. Is this site a religious site?

It seems to me there's a large amount of Christian posts. I've also noticed a fair amount of disapproval for other religions.

I am an atheist. I don't really want to be part of a christian site posing as a parenting site.

So is this actually a Christian place?

I do feel bad about coming on here and taliking crap. Nearly de-regged just now. What should I do?

EffiePerine · 27/01/2009 21:55

does atheism require a stern sort of biscuit?

onebatmother · 27/01/2009 21:56

but an agnostic biscuit is one which asks you to believe in the potential of a biscuit with wheels which can talk and crochet, surely, my dear Iorek?

Habbibu · 27/01/2009 21:56

You know it, Iorek. This stuff really did the business in school.

Threadie - I thought better of bringing up the religious connotations of the biscuit-baked-for-one's-partner's-colleagues.

IorekByrnison · 27/01/2009 21:57

If it's any consolation, threadworm, I have wasted a preposterous amount of time today too and am also ashamed. But also keen to answer your post of 21:03 even though I have a hundred things to do before bed where I had hoped to be by the end of Newsnight.

onebatmother · 27/01/2009 21:57

Oh christ Threadie you are needed here!

PLEASE DON'T DO ANYTHING RASH! Remember how humiliating it was being Threeeeeeadwwwwoooorrrrmmmmm?

ruty · 27/01/2009 21:57

will you please stop fucking off and stay. Honestly it is like lemmings falling off a cliff round here...

Habbibu · 27/01/2009 21:58

Oh, don't de-reg, Threadie - really don't. What's so bad about talking crap? Laughter and fun are the best bits about being human. Just do other stuff that makes you feel however else you need to feel at other times.

IorekByrnison · 27/01/2009 21:58

I think we should write off the rest of the day then have a pact not to talk about any of this interesting biscuit/religion stuff for two weeks from tomorrow.

Habbibu · 27/01/2009 21:59

Effie - atheism's not stern! Unless you're Dawkins, I guess.

Threadworm · 27/01/2009 22:00

It's nearly Lent, isn't it? I could regard this as a kind of pancake-chat day and give up chewing the fat for lent.

onebatmother · 27/01/2009 22:00

Threadie? Threadie?

onebatmother · 27/01/2009 22:01

Ah

Habbibu · 27/01/2009 22:01

Just make sure you do the stuff you think important and then come on here. It's life/MN balance.

IorekByrnison · 27/01/2009 22:02

Not at all, onebat. The agnostic biscuit simply asks you to accept the possibility that its deliciousness has an intrinsic value of its own whose source is unknowable, rather than just being a means to ensure the perpetuation of our genes by encouraging us to eat fat and sugar whenever available.

IorekByrnison · 27/01/2009 22:05

What if we were to give ourselves a specific hour in the day when we could mumsnet, like a good parent might give their child a TV or Nintendo hour.

Habbibu · 27/01/2009 22:05

I've asked for this to go on Classics, so mind your flounces, ladies. They'll be in perpetuity...

Threadworm · 27/01/2009 22:05

Or will only post on Friday night.

Threadworm · 27/01/2009 22:06

Oh yes Iorek. Specific hour. Not allowed to join in if have posted at other time.

Habbibu · 27/01/2009 22:06

hairtwiddler's dh had a clever wheeze whereby he did some trickery that blocked MN except between the hours of 7 and 9.

onebatmother · 27/01/2009 22:06

Its source of the deliciousness is the labour of the biscuit-maker combined with the physical reaction between sugar, fat and flour when heated. The value of the deliciousness is ascribed by those who consume the biscuit.

I feel a eucharistic turn is about to be taken

IorekByrnison · 27/01/2009 22:07

Yes, OK. Between 10 and 11?

Habbibu · 27/01/2009 22:07

Threadworm Fridays? That'd do. We could all get dressed up for your return. You could regale us with stories of your travels. It'd be like The Old Days.

Habbibu · 27/01/2009 22:08

No! Too late. 9-10? Or just Fridays?
