Shit... 99% sure Guinea Pig is pregnant

Bit of a disaster... I lost one of my two lovely girls at the start of December. We were devastated, they were like two peas in a pod. I had a post on here at the time.

After just over a week I figured I needed to get another Guinea pig to keep my remaining one happy. Bought from a pet store as we don't have any rescues.... and I'm 99% sure the baby is pregnant 😡

Can't get her in to see the Vet until Tuesday morning.

She's had no vet care during pregnancy, haven't been feeding her any supplements. She was 8 weeks when she came to us, so young to be having babies. We've had her 55 days.

What the hell do I do now?

I love this thread.

Also very freaked out / impressed how developed they are!!

Well done OP we've all learnt stuff 😎

Quite a few years ago! We got a surprise, after being away for a weekend. We arrived home to find the guinea pig we had for only two weeks, had given birth. We called the baby Suprise, and what a beautiful, cute little guinea pig she was.

I have read this entire thread tonight, and I have to say its been lovely.

StandingUpForWhatsRight · 18/02/2024 22:59

Thank you very much for the photos. We are enjoying them too. Congratulations!

@Nottogetapenny One of my relations once accidentally won a horse in a raffle, and it turned out to be pregnant. They didn't know until they went to give it some hay in the morning, and found that they had two horses. Bit of a shock that was.

Maybelater434 · 18/02/2024 23:10

So pleased babies arrived safely. 🥰
Just waiting for Charlotte the stingray to have her pups now 🤣

Just found this thread. All the GPs are adorable. Can someone tell me what popcorning is? Know very little about GPs.

Oddsocks55 · 18/02/2024 23:24

They're so cute, and just mini GP!

I find it mind blowing that their weight at birth is similar to the weight of a newborn giant panda (90-130g), and yet they will never grow to the size of an adult giant panda (well, i hope not, for your sake OP 😂)

Oooh sorry, just seen how long this thread is and the little darlings are already born and very much wanted. Congrats Guinea Granny!

What a lovely thread to read just before bedtime. I love how emotional you are OP. They are gorgeous babies. We've always had pet rats and lost our last boy last week. I'm tempted by Guinea Pigs ❤️ Such a sweet post to read xxx

Popcorning is when the piggies jump and twist in the air, just for sheer joy. Unbelievably cute.
Adults do it too, but can't get as far off the ground 😁

TerriPie · 19/02/2024 00:22

Gorgeous little squeaks 😃. I would have to keep them all though, can males be neutered or are they too small a creature for that?

Sharpness19 · 19/02/2024 01:10

Eeeeek they’re adorable OP! Congratulations 🥳

Relaxd · 19/02/2024 01:30

On the related name front …. If you have a Biscuit, then perhaps Fudge and Brownie (which also kind of goes with a Blondie) might be appealing for the two darker piggies? Or on the ginger front Ginger snap and Brandy snap.

Manyandyoucanwalkover · 19/02/2024 01:51

This is easily the nicest thread I’ve ever read on here. Congratulations @InAPickle12345 on the birth of your gorgeous babies and thanks for sharing.♥️

Riapia · 19/02/2024 03:48

Those three little piggies will never know the pleasure that they have brought to so many people.
❤️❤️❤️

I've never known a guinea pig to eat their young, other than the person who said theirs did earlier on this thread. I had 6 litters myself and knew others who bred on a small scale. Not common at all with guinea pigs, especially as they don't come out hairless and helpless like mice, rats, hamsters, etc.

FlamingoQueen · 19/02/2024 07:32

I’ve not seen this thread before so it has made my morning! I love little piggies, they are just so cute.
