Shit... 99% sure Guinea Pig is pregnant

Bit of a disaster... I lost one of my two lovely girls at the start of December. We were devastated, they were like two peas in a pod. I had a post on here at the time.

After just over a week I figured I needed to get another Guinea pig to keep my remaining one happy. Bought from a pet store as we don't have any rescues.... and I'm 99% sure the baby is pregnant 😡

Can't get her in to see the Vet until Tuesday morning.

She's had no vet care during pregnancy, haven't been feeding her any supplements. She was 8 weeks when she came to us, so young to be having babies. We've had her 55 days.

What the hell do I do now?

Absolutely gorgeous, and with a little crest too. I love them with crests. Biggest baby I've ever seen, born to a tiny mother, was 136g at birth!

They are gorgeous, I’m amazed at how big they are though!

They are HUGE!!! Well done, Mama pig!
(and you too of course, OP :)

MassiveOvaryaction · 18/02/2024 10:16

Wowsers this little guys are beautiful 🥰

Can't believe the size either. Mind you my only experience of small furries giving birth is with hamsters (also from a new pet shop purchase of an allegedly male hamster Hmm).

OhBeAFineGuyKissMe · 18/02/2024 10:17

This has totally cheered up my (otherwise miserable) morning. Biscuit is adorable.

They seem big for newborns, is that typical sizes of baby gp?

BaroqueInterlude · 18/02/2024 10:18

So sweet, and aren't they big! Well done, mummy pig!

Twoshoesnewshoes · 18/02/2024 10:20

Awwwwwwwwwwww
they are so perfect!!

well done mama pig and auntie pig, and you OP.
i like biscuit best ❤️
though I love them all the same, of course.

aquarimum · 18/02/2024 10:20

well done piggies! Is Mummy Pig back to normal size?

Puppupandaway · 18/02/2024 10:21

Oh wow, what gorgeous little piggies!!! Congratulations!! Thank you for sharing, enjoy xx

Skiphopbump · 18/02/2024 10:23

They are so sweet! I love the fact it’s brought mum and auntie closer together.

Windydaysandwetnights · 18/02/2024 10:26

Now that the birth is out of the way. Let's talk names?. How about
Biscuit
Ginger
And Snap?

Ithinkitstimeforbed · 18/02/2024 10:28

Themed names are cute!

I think the ginger one without the white tuft looked a bit like a Fergal to me 😂 Fergie for a girl!

They are big aren’t they? Such sweeties

GuppytheCat · 18/02/2024 10:30

Biscuit, Cookie and Flapjack?

Now, now Aquarium. We shouldn't be expecting the poor woman to snap back to her pre-baby figure straight after birth. She needs to sit around, eating hay and watching Piggy Netflix, not worrying about her appearance.

They are gorgeous 🥰

Biscuit
Ginger
Nut

becuase you can already tell the one with the tuff will have a big personality.

BirthdayRainbow · 18/02/2024 10:52

The one that weighs 89 grams looks like my late girl. She was called Toffee..

HaHa the Mums do snap back from having the huge rump to being really slinky and you cannot catch the blighters because they can slip through your hands now .

They are beautiful @InAPickle12345 guinea-piglets are a miracle and so much worth the extra gestation time compared to rabbits . You can see them fully formed , with those ears and paws that they will eventually grow into .

MumPig will eat for Britain to get her strength up for feeding these three greedy little babies .
They'll popcorn , wheek , wander off then panic and go running back, shreiking .
And these babies are agile and can jump ,,,

Don;t forget those Needle Claws that they have .

SprinkleTheMunchiesDust · 18/02/2024 10:56

Whoop whoop! Or should that be wheek wheek 😍

As soon as I saw 88 replies on my watch list I knew they must have arrived.

Thank you so much for sharing your little journey OP, this thread has made my wheek 😂😍

Only seen the baby photos and now going to read the posts and bask in everyone’s joy.

gingeristhenewblack43 · 18/02/2024 10:56

I should be doing lots today, but I keep stopping to refresh this thread hoping for more piggy photos

Gettingbysomehow · 18/02/2024 10:56

Aww we had baby guinea pigs when I was a child, they were so adorable.

Shergill15 · 18/02/2024 10:58

Congratulations OP and mama pig. Those babies are adorable 😍

Windydaysandwetnights · 18/02/2024 11:00

Have you applied for Jeremy Kyle on her behalf op? You need to find the df before you can claim from the afore mentioned pms...
*piggy maintenance services..

greasypolemonkeyman · 18/02/2024 11:01

Naaaaaw, they are gorgeous ❤️. It anyways blows my mind that Guinea pig babies are so bloody huge. To put it into context my female Chinese crested dog had a litter of puppies and they ranged between 89-125g each.

Give the mum dry oats to boost her calories so she produced enough milk. The babies can eat pig food right away but can also benefit from brown bread soaked in goats milk .

Tygertiger · 18/02/2024 11:04

They are bloody gorgeous. Just keep them OP, nothing more wonderful than a little herd 😁

For names, I’d go with dessert theme if Biscuit is a winner.

Biscuit
Crumble
Waffle

Goldbar · 18/02/2024 11:05

They are so lovely 😍. Well worth the wait! Congratulations to the new mum and auntie.
