How do I remove sinister Santa outfit from a cactus?

YesitsBess · 14/04/2023 18:52

My lovely sister got this little darling thing for my teenage son for Christmas. He loves it, as do I. However having gone way past 12th night we would now like to update his wardrobe/allow him to go 'au natural'.

Also he looks quite menacing and the other plants are a bit scared.

I've tried gently pulling the hat, no joy. I've tried tweezers on the grumpy eyes, I ended up with my other hand covered in prickles.

It is not glued on or secured by any other method I can see. Does anyone have any intimate knowledge on how to disrobe a festive novelty cactus?

Thanking you in advance.

If we’re going chicken theme, then I think he needs something to protect his modesty.

Perhaps some glasses

And a sombrero

And a moustache

I agree. He looks more like an owl rather than a grumpy, eyebrow shaving, maniac.

How is everyone seeing owl? How?!?

I'm a certified idiot and I'm not seeing owl.

Cocktail sticks! Not for any practical help, but to spear olives and keep up your strength whilst wrestling off the unseasonable garments. Then stick the feathers from the hat around him (because he’s obviously a First Nation plant)

The feathers have to go on the as yet unfinished rugby hat. Due to sartorial envy.* *

I am genuinely amazed at how many experienced cactus undressers there are on mumsnet. Nice job!
now you need a chicken helmet, pirate hat, I rain hat and probably a sun hat

AND A LARGE PRIEST AND A SMALL PRIEST.

A tutu?

Perhaps some glasses

And a sombrero

And a moustache

This seems both reasonable and sane.

A tutu?

I'm not sure I have the mental capacity, time, not fabric to make this happen.

I never that I'd be googling ' Poseable Where the Wild Things are Goatboy figurine' at 11 on a Saturday night. Yet here we are 🤣

Vitriolinsanity · 15/04/2023 23:11

Tutu no

Kilt yes!

  • thought obvs 🤣
Daffodilsandtuplips · 16/04/2023 00:21

Very, very carefully. Oven gloves won’t protect you..voice of experience here. Leather gauntlets might…at a pinch. Long tweezers, long thin bladed scissors and good luck.

Daffodilsandtuplips · 16/04/2023 00:27

Oops, too late to the party. He’s growing babies, do not repot him, or else you’ll end up with a three foot monster like I did, he was so big he lived in the potting shed…last years heat wave suited him down to the ground in there. He just kept growing…he flowered, pretty pink flowers and the. He collapsed and died!

Did you get it off OP?

Duckingella · 16/04/2023 02:04

@YesitsBess after watching the film can you keep a secret I giggle when I ever see anyone talking about begonias

BruceAndNosh · 16/04/2023 06:39

He looks less angry without the hat. Maybe it was too tight?

allabitmadtbf · 16/04/2023 07:36

He's much happier now. Leave his wee top bit uncovered.

Just wanted to thank you for my new username OP. Grin

This is unpleasantly weird.

I started using this username a good hour before this post appeared.

And the one I've just quoted is not me

(reported to @MNHQ already - I'm sure it's not meant to work like that)

Either that or the cactus is coming to get us!

The one you've quoted is spelt wrong!

You've both spelt the last word differently

AngryGreasedSantaCactus · 16/04/2023 08:25

Oh thank you!

I'd looked and looked, and convinced myself they were the same! But I was prob looking at word order, and missed that bit!!

Off to have more coffee (and I'll re-report to MNHQ that there's no issue, just a user making a tit of herself again!!)
