How do I remove sinister Santa outfit from a cactus?

My lovely sister got this little darling thing for my teenage son for Christmas. He loves it, as do I. However having gone way past 12th night we would now like to update his wardrobe/allow him to go 'au natural'.

Also he looks quite menacing and the other plants are a bit scared.

I've tried gently pulling the hat, no joy. I've tried tweezers on the grumpy eyes, I ended up with my other hand covered in prickles.

It is not glued on or secured by any other method I can see. Does anyone have any intimate knowledge on how to disrobe a festive novelty cactus?

Thanking you in advance.

Gardening gloves. I removed all mine using a kitchen knife to prise them off. I lost a couple of prickles.

he’s now huge and is flowering I love it

Cut the red bit off and refashion the rim into bunny ears for spring?

Satan's bunny. What's what I'm envisioning here.

Satan's...own...bunny.

Try sex lube and a fish slice?

MrsHsGirl · 14/04/2023 19:21

This is my favourite ever thread 😂

You see the little white bit in your Swiss Army knife casing? Slide that out with your thumbnail. It will either be tiny tweezers or a toothpick. Either might be useful.

Gensola · 14/04/2023 19:22

I think this photo should come with a warning 😂

AbbaG12 · 14/04/2023 19:22

Have you consulted Father Spikemass on his feelings towards having his clothes removed?

Of course she has! Why else did you think he’d be looking at her like that?

Dip him in petrol and set fire to him.

Sounds drastic but it's the only way. Can you post a live video on Mumsnet? If not I suppose photos will have to do. Sigh.

I don't even have chopsticks (in my defence, I did a lot of Mari Kondo business when we moved and now wish I hadn't because then I would have two sets of tweezers and they would bring me joy).

What makes you think I have petrol just hanging around?

Looks like your Swiss Army knife has little scissors...

Does anyone own a fish slice?

Plus, I've been warned in no uncertain terms not to grease the angry Santa Cactus.

@CutesyUserName that is conjuring up all sorts of horrific images. I instinctively crossed my legs 🤣🤣🤣 @YesitsBess you win the internet today for this thread. What about a filleting knife to slooowly undress him? Those things are sharp....

AbbaG12 · 14/04/2023 19:28

If you google "how to get clothes of a cactus" it tells you how to get the cactus out of clothes. Ducktape seems to be the weapon of choice, so maybe it works in reverse.

Cover Father Spikemass in ductape and report back, please.

FreddiesTeeth · 14/04/2023 19:29

Do you have knitting needles in the house?

YesitsBess · 14/04/2023 19:29

I'm going to look at my secret Swiss Army knife section presently.

Currently I am canvassing any and all solutions.* *Because MN of a Friday evening is by far and away the best source for festive gardening conundrums.

No. But I may have some in the garage.

I'm not knitting him another layer. He's disgruntled enough as it is.

Burn it off with lighter or matches 🤣

Ponderingwindow · 14/04/2023 19:33

Forks. Wiggle them under the Santa clothing and pull the Santa pieces away from the cactus .

also how does a person old
enough to have a teenager not have a single pair of tongs? How do you cook? Not that I think tongs would work.

YesitsBess · 14/04/2023 19:36

Son has come up with temporary solution.

Whilst it's not an improvement per se, I can now concentrate my energy on reading all of your excellent efforts without him glaring at me.

So he gives you the eyes to undress him and you...put a wooly hat on the end of him?

I did have tongs. I now don't but wish I did.

Generally I use the oven 😁

Don't have those. I have towels. But I feel that could end badly...

I think that "I feel like nobody needs an angry greased Santa Cactus" may be the best sentence I've ever read. 😂
