On the back of the amusing threads about the irrationality of toddlers and their meltdowns, I have this for you.

Today my 17 DD is upset because I suggested booking an expensive (for me as a single parent) spa day for her and her sisters and me that we would go to on her 18th birthday. I hasten to add this is NOT in place of presents, cake and special attention for the birthday girl. Apparently I have made her feel worthless for suggesting she share her special day with her family. Confused

We got to the organ donation page and I clicked OK - he asked what it was and I told him, he went a funny colour and said I wasn't allowed to disrespect his dead body by ripping bits out of it.

Why did you click 'OK' without talking to him about it first?

BelendaCarlisle · 25/10/2021 12:34

He’s tongue in cheek but I think that he is slightly disappointed 😂

IntemperateSpirits · 25/10/2021 16:34

Why did you click 'OK' without talking to him about it first? Because I was rushing through a job that was his to do in the first place and I hadn't expected a lecture about desecrating his carcass.

I can't wait to ask him whether he wants to be buried or cremated Grin

RockinHorseShit · 25/10/2021 16:50

Today DD was upset because I asked if she'd like to come & see Dune with me & her dad & we'd pay. She said she'd love to go, but not with us, so she'd have to money instead to go with her BF... she's upset because I said no Confused

My cherub was incensed that his PC kept crashing at the weekend and vented his frustration on DH and I on Saturday night as we were watching a film. DH paused the film, acknowledged the great disaster this indeed was, offered constructive advice on what he could do until we could buy more RAM but no - DS needed the RAM immediately or his life was OVERRRRR. DH explained that it wasn’t possible to buy that at 10.30 on a Saturday night which was not the answer DS wanted.
Stomp stomp stomp up the stairs - slam, went the door. We laughed, unpaused the film and went back to not giving a fuck.

JustDanceAddict · 25/10/2021 17:18

Annoyed that I probably won’t be ‘making myself known to her’ in the afterlife!!!

FuckingFabulous · 25/10/2021 18:39

Oldest today is angry because I can't think of a foolproof way to make someone fall in love with another person. Tried gently to explain that she wouldn't want love that someone else didn't choose to give her, because it wouldn't be real.

"Don't assume you know what I would want, OR what's real!"

Hmm
coolcahuna · 25/10/2021 20:03

@Belendacarlisle

My 15 year old is pissed off with me because he’s gay, has his ears pierced, has no curfew (because he always comes home at a sensible time anyway), I don’t tell him to do his homework (he does it anyway) and let him wear nail varnish. Apparently by not telling him off, disapproving or allowing him to be like this I am not allowing him to rebel like a normal teenager.
I remember being pissed off with my mum for being like this. She was super cool about everything so nothing to rebel against.
Molly1418 · 26/10/2021 01:46

I helped my DD 16, with her room clear out, tidying today. It was nice for a change she let me help her! Spent a good few hours there, sorting out unworn unwanted clothes, papers, books, make up, jewellery stuff and odd cups, forks etc popping out from odd corners (disgusting) anyway after all the time spent I am looking at the room and I feel it still looks like a dump, I tell her this and she says 'you have very high standards'😵‍💫😵‍💫ConfusedHmm

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 26/10/2021 02:25

@BelendaCarlisle
I get upset with mine because they won't let me dye their hair black or red or Harley Quinn bleach/blue/pink. I suggested it several times, they wouldn't budge.
no nail varnish or shocking clothes etc.
they are attention-seeking averse and just want to look reasonable 😳
Where did I go wrong? Why won't my children rebel? What's wrong with them??????
I've just posted elsewhere that the worst thing that happened so far at a teenager party that someone was talking and laughing too loudly past 3am.

they are ruining my street cred

balzamico · 27/10/2021 07:22

Mine are both pissed off with me as I asked them (repeatedly) to not use their phones while at a dinner table on a restaurant (we're on holiday).
The elder even treated me to a little lecture of how at least she has friends and needs to talk to them as we're so dull/ annoying/not even talking to her.
Sigh

Flossie44 · 27/10/2021 07:25

Mine spent an entire 6 hour car trip (back from a wonderful trip away) arguing where each other should put their feet in the back of the car and who’s space is who’s. They’re 15 and 13!!

kanteeeeee · 27/10/2021 07:35

Mine was outraged last night because I didn't tell him there was going to be carrots in the ham and baked bean soup. He thought it would just be ham and baked beans. Carrots (which he likes) rendered it too horrific to even taste, apparently, and I was out of order not to have explained the dinner to him properly beforehand so he could have cooked his own. Hmm

SirChenjins · 27/10/2021 09:05

Mine had an absolute meltdown this morning about his school shirts - apparently the Next ones I bought are far too long and the arms are too tight. He’s six foot and skinny as a rake, so unless the Next production line went very wrong that day the shirts are fine.

I bought six of the damn things, and he assured me - in the 20 seconds he very reluctantly took out of his very important game of FIFA to try them on - that the shirts were absolutely fine. Hell mend him - he can wear them.

I’m onto my third teenager now - they’re all as mad as each other. So. Much. Drama.

Odetomelancholy · 27/10/2021 09:20

I feel your pain with regards to school shirts - my dd assured me hers fit too after a fleeting glance but actually no they’re huge and baggy so she is wearing last years (which happen to be the same size - go figure)
Also was privy to a conversation between some teenage girls about how ‘unnecessarily extra’ it was to be told they looked stunning and couldn’t people just say they looked nice - complete with full on eye roll Hmm
I mean my good God!

SirChenjins · 27/10/2021 11:13

Oh it’s so ^difficult* being a teenager and being surrounded by all these clueless idiots Grin

The school had allowed the pupils to wear non-uniform after they returned from lockdown and then reverted back to uniform after the summer holidays. My precious poppet has still not recovered from this and feels quite aggrieved - he bears the weight of the world on his shoulders, poor lamb.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 27/10/2021 12:45

yesterday my teenager was upset because he couldn't get ready on time because one of his socks was too tight and it took slightly longer than should've to put it on.

(Given he's 6' 8" and has size 17 feet I do sympathise because it's a nightmare to try & get stuff that fits him.)
I suggested to go through all the socks and chuck out the ones that give him grief.
He accepted the idea without arguments. 😱
I almost fainted
MY TEENAGER LISTENED TO ME!
IT CAN BE DONE PEOPLE!
🤣🤣

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 27/10/2021 13:02

mine will throw a tantrum when they come in the kitchen at random times to make food and I tell them "no, I'm just finishing tidying/dishwasher/prepping stuff and need to focus so come back in 10 mins"

Oh the fury & indignation to have to wait and not be allowed to do whatever they want immediately! How very dare I to starve them?!
But they have no issues coming down an hour and a half late to eat dinner because "I just can't leave the game half way through.. it's multiplayer...argh mum you don't understand".
🙄

they don't see the hypocrisy, do they?

Flossie44 · 27/10/2021 14:06

Oh the food crisis they have on a daily basis!

Yes!! The kitchen dramas are a whole new chapter!!
I’ve been told by my ds in the past that I think it’s ok to staaaarrve him, that I don’t feed him enough.
Poor lamb….the meals I cook end dish up are at times when he needs to nap apparently…and then the times when he feels it suits him to make a full on 100 course meal, complete with every pot needed, every cooking utensil etc, just so happens to be when I’ve JUST cleared up our dinner things.

It’s so unfair that us parents choose to starve these teens 🙄

JKDinomum · 27/10/2021 14:06

Today, her (short) hair is standing up at the back. This is apparently my fault. Last night she chose to have a shower at night instead of in the morning. I woke her up 40 minutes before we needed to leave this morning. She didn't actually get up until about 15 minutes before we needed to leave. Then leisurely ate breakfast while on her phone. Then got cross because I called her to leave, I and the other two kids were ready and waiting. We left five minutes late because of her. When she got out of the car she huffed at me about her hair sticking up....

Pretty sure mine felt the same when she made a big deal about coming out to us and we were like "Okay great." Apparently if your parents don't threaten to throw you out on the street you're not really gay.
frankienotbenny · 27/10/2021 14:30

Last winter my 17 year old was most put out that I was not in a position to lend him my (expensive) cycling gloves when he went out snowballing with his friends. Why did I not lend him the gloves? Because the previous week he had borrowed them without asking and had lost one. A week should have been long enough for me to replace them, apparently.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 27/10/2021 14:39

@Flossie44

I'm expecting social services any minute now.

Do yours open a fully stocked fridge's door then stand and examine content as if it was some fucking art exhibition while simultaneously sighing & rolling eyes then declaring "there's NOTHING to eat!"

Poor little dahlings

My 17yo is a nightmare for that lol. He goes on to tell me that I really need to start doing a better shop. When I ask for suggestions on what I should add specifically for him I get "hmm...jam roly poly" 🙄

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 27/10/2021 14:44

jam rolypoly
the height of excellent nutrition
