Crows feet!

I love them. I think they make any face instantly more beautiful.

What are your favourite most beautiful signs of aging?

It's a good thread - I'm just not sure I'm entirely comfortable with all this inner radiance and wisdom stuff. We're not on some kind of higher spiritual plane you know!

It's a sign that things haven't gone so badly wrong that you're dead

Lol that’s why I said the only good thing about ageing was basically that you aren’t dead. I stand by that 😂

I agree. I certainly feel like I know more and understand more about some things as a result of my experience, which is a kind of wisdom; but i think there's always more to learn. I have a lot of young people in my life and learn such a lot about today's world, current thinking etc from them which is really enriching. I've gain insight into so many things, social, political, cultural from them, and sometimes feel practically childlike in my naivety when they explain things to me from their perspective.

I'm in my late 50s and often had painful spotty skin until I went through the menopause. Now out the other side and am really loving waking up to a clear albeit wrinkly complexion every day. Such a relief! Smile

Very strange reply. Society seems to discard women of a certain age and define all aging features on women to be horrible. Makes you wonder why. Of course you get inner wisdom and just love to be yourself.
Floisme · 24/10/2021 12:03

I'm fully aware of the prejudice Chak - I encounter it already and I'm 'only' 65. I just think the 'inner peace and wisdom' stuff is just as big a stereotype. Old women are just people with the same qualities and flaws as everyone else and I dislike exaggerated reverence just as much as I dislike the word being used as a synonym for ugly.

@Journeynotdestination

I’m SO tired of starting to read interesting threads only to see them derailed by another poster honing in one one seemingly un PC comment. It’s so fucking boring.
Here here

I love it when older women have wrinkly brown hands and rings on and their nails painted. I like old ladies with a halo of hair with hairspray on and I like bright lipstick on a wrinkly face. I think it is for me, a Symbol of women who have achieved and got to a certain age of wisdom, life experience and achievement but I also like that aesthetic so not sure really what it is.

My friend meet me the other day and she said oh you've gone greyer, it's lovely it suits you. She always speaks her mind so I know she meant every word, which is nice....I already knew I was greyer. I have brown hair with some gray in it, almost like grey highlights.😂

TRex57128 · 24/10/2021 20:05

Thanks for this thread and I love what everyone has said. 🙂💚💖xx

@Ohchristmastreeohchristmastree

I bloody love hooded eyelids. I think they make someone look wise and badass at the same time.
Totally
PandoraP · 24/10/2021 21:41

It’s easy to love hooded eye lids on others. Do you want them?

Yeah, that is getting a little carried away! @Ohchristmastreeohchristmastree, you do know that when they get properly hooded, the person can’t see properly? 😳

Im obviously in the minority.
Hate looking older, not vain in any sense, but my previously lovely high chubby cheekbones are now under my chin, so i now sport the HUGEST second/third chin which is awful if i shake my head all my chins follow!
Nope dont feel older get a shock when i look in the mirror.

LunaTheCat · 25/10/2021 06:29

This is so lovely - an antidote to all that denies the beauty and wisdom of agin and the relentless pressure to look at Botox and fillers. Thank you everybody.

KisstheTeapot14 · 27/10/2021 18:20

@brittleheadgirl me too - just a semi permanent wash in one, its not expensive and it gives my brown hair, lightening to grey a lovely soft gold. I always like to match hair and clothes colours to seasons - so usually going red/copper but this year autumn has been golden and I have too!

Wait til I can go snowy for Christmas! Friend of mine in late 40's has gone from dyed black to snow white and she looks great. I keep meaning to tell her and forgetting.

I think its sass that is attractive - a 'kind but don't give a monkey's what you think' woman at any age is a real beauty! You can have any style you want to go with that but that's the key. I aspire to it.

KisstheTeapot14 · 27/10/2021 18:26

I am really not keen on the botox look. I see Hollywood ladies and I think my god, what have you done? It reminds me of the Egyptians with their love of mummification. Embrace time people, embrace it.

I recently bought the first ever cotton full length nightie I have worn since being about 8. Its amazing to sleep in.

Ddot · 27/10/2021 20:35

Your all mad, I look like a deflated balloon. Maybe I did something wrong

Nearly47 · 27/10/2021 21:24

Grey/ white hair is lovely. I just have a few strands but looking forward to going grey.
