Crows feet!

I love them. I think they make any face instantly more beautiful.

What are your favourite most beautiful signs of aging?

After always having small boobs, I had breast implants. Had them removed 2 years ago, and I now have bigger and better boobs than I have ever had. I’ve always struggled to put on weight, and although I’m now a couple of stone overweight, it’s nice to finally have some cures in all the right places. (Not liking my fat belly as much though!)

This thread puts me in mind ifthese lyrics. I find it a lovely song, very much a love song, written decades in to a relationship.

Exactly this! I immediately thought of this song, which I've always loved
@woodhill I thought I was the only Pahla B fan in the UK! She is barking mad but I find the endless commentary makes the whole painful business go faster and her weights workouts are actually pretty good! Give yourself a big hug!
Who is this Parla B of whom you speak and where can I find her?

woodhill · 20/10/2021 20:25

She's on You Tube and FB

I remember seeing 'stars' all over my grandpa's hands when I was little. At nearly 50, I have a fair few constellations of my own and the feeling is one of peace and connection to the story of a life, rather than one of needing to 'rush out to buy hand cream'.

Me too. Such a beautiful song.

I love crows feet. My dads are beautiful.
Im starting to get some deep ones now and when i go for my fore head botox they always ask if i want to do my crows feet. No!!!! Don't touch them. I also absolutely adore the hands of older women. Wrinkles, weins and the brown "age spots" from too much time in the sun. A life worth of caring hands. Hands that have loved, soothed, cared and nurtured others. My old ballet teacher was one of the most elegant women I've ever seen. She was nearly 80 and had the most dainty hands. Her blue veined hands always manicured to perfection. Classic red. She had two plain gold bands as engagement and wedding rings and even as a child i found it really moving. The understated elegance. Those rings on her aged hands. 50 years of marriage. Such poise, dignity and elegance.

I’ve been looking, but nothing is coming up for me. Do you have a more complete name or a link?
StargazerAli · 20/10/2021 21:48

Why is it? Most women are still responsible for the majority of childcare and it is liberating when children grow up and we have more time for ourselves. I'm sure men who are in the same position feel the same but this is 'mumsnet', not 'dadsnet'.

StargazerAli · 20/10/2021 21:50

Some women really lighten up once the worry and anxiety of raising children is over. Nothing more lovely than a relaxed face and an easy laugh

'That’s pretty sexist and misogynistic'

I messed that one up! My reply was in response to this.

Bertiebiscuit · 20/10/2021 23:16

Pure white hair so I no longer need to dye or bleach it
Flat shoes
Short nails
All look great, and often a sign of graceful maturity 😍😍😍😍

BurbageBrook · 20/10/2021 23:17

I agree, I often think crow's feet look pretty. Give a face a sense of kindness and character.

AnnieSnap · 20/10/2021 23:34

Thank you @woodhill Found her 🙂

OwlDoll · 20/10/2021 23:38

My grandmother loved poetry often recited this poem. I would sit and listen to her while looking at her face which to me was truly beautiful.

The Old Woman

As a white candle
In a holy place,
So is the beauty
Of an aged face.
As the spent radiance
Of the winter sun,
So is a woman
With her travail done.
Her brood gone from her,
And her thoughts as still
As the waters
Under a ruined mill.

Brilliant. Let us know what you think. I'm motivating myself to do some soonSmile

There’s nothing beautiful about ageing except still being alive

PandoraP · 21/10/2021 17:51

I find it much easier to appreciate signs of ageing on others than on myself !

littlematchstickgirl · 21/10/2021 20:19

What a really lovely thread!

I grew my grey out over lockdown, I like it and think it suits me better. Sometimes I think I look older but this thread has made me appreciate that.

It's been a hard few years and it shows. But that's ok

userxx · 21/10/2021 20:27

@KoreyBay18

I also love hands as they age - thinning skin almost crepe paper like, more prominent veins. I think it looks really elegant.

Surely you're taking the piss ?

KoreyBay18 · 21/10/2021 20:30

@userxx not taking the piss at all Hmm my great grandmother died a year ago at the age of 100 and she had the most beautiful hands.

Really? I look better now at 50 than I did at 20!!! My face looks so much prettier and I've never been so photogenic GrinGrin

You really think that? Sad really. I think there is beauty in even the very elderly, twinkly eyes, wisdom, humour, elegance, the list goes on. Not only youth has beauty.
Ohchristmastreeohchristmastree · 21/10/2021 21:11

I bloody love hooded eyelids. I think they make someone look wise and badass at the same time.
