I am 50% of the way through chemo. (second time around)(different primary)

My DS (18) has just been diagnosed with depression I think me being diagnosed again was the tipping point.

Due to above I am having to delegate Christmas, it will get done, it did before just not my way.

DH retiring in three years, should be more than enough to live on, but at the moment I am worrying (Like I couldn't worry about that closer to the time) Hmm

Sausage rolls, my job, ditto mince pies.........if they don't happen my DH and my DS will suck it up. Just me worrying.

DS struggling in college and have to go to a meeting on Wednesday

So if some of the night shift would like to come and mind my ,worries whilst I attempt to sleep, it would be gratefully received.

Feel free to add your own, just writing that down has helped.

Ha! @2018SoFarSoGreat

Made that mistake already flower. And not only magnifying but scrutinising at 15x magnification.

I’m a bit of a moose anyway but was vaguely ok with a fleeting look in a normal mirror. 15x gave me a bigger shock than when that head popped out the boat on Jaws.

You think you’ve plucked your eyebrows? 15x says you haven’t.

And fork prong hairs look like they are 3ft long - and thick.... Shock

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 30/01/2020 14:09

And that is why I prefer a dirty mirror!
At least in a dirty mirror I can kid myself I’m half way passable Smile

NumbersStation · 30/01/2020 14:40

Glasses off has the same effect Grin

Me, his fluffyness, and my beard all signing in for guardian duty Wink

Anyone able to mind my worries about the anxiety disorder I’ve had for 20 odd years?

Going to see a new therapist tomorrow but feeling sorry for myself. What if it’s nothing new and a normal life just isn’t possible for me. I want to be able to go out and do things with my 5 yr old, just being the one to pick her up from school would do for starters.

Happy to take on someone else’s worries in exchange xxx

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 31/01/2020 00:46

@7996cath I’ll take your worries for you while you sleep. Anxiety is a sleep stealer, so let me reassure you that I will take good care of them while you rest.
I hope your new therapist is a good one.
Sleep well.

7996cath · 31/01/2020 01:01

Thank you 🙏🏻 that’s a weight lifted. Will try and get some rest now xxx

My 14 year old DD has been sobbing uncontrollably. She was diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease a year ago and has had the toughest, most gruelling year. She is crying that everything is so difficult, she has no energy and the most awful headaches since beginning self injecting Humira a month ago. My heart breaks for her. Wish I could take all of her worries/insecurities on myself. I know there are many people far worse of than me but I feel so helpless...

ScaredyCat123 · 31/01/2020 01:57

Had a tooth extraction late yesterday afternoon. Painkillers have worn off so woke up and waiting for another set to kick in so I can sleep again ....

2018SoFarSoGreat · 31/01/2020 03:17

@cuddles37 and @ScaredyCat123 I've got this tonight. I shall take your worries, and hold the pain. You just cuddle in, let your mind go blank, and sleep. That's all. Just let go. It's OK. I've got this for tonight ❤️

HannaYeah · 31/01/2020 03:19

@Cuddles37 I can worry about your daughter’s difficulty tonight and yours, too.

Hope you can get some rest.

7996cath · 31/01/2020 08:36

@GenuineKlatchianPottery best nights sleep I’ve had in ages, thank you! 🙏🏻

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 31/01/2020 08:49

@7996cath I’m so glad you got some sleep. I hope you click with your new therapist today.

cuddles37 · 31/01/2020 13:19

Thank you 2018SoFarSoGreat and HannaYeah, I appreciate that so much. Managed to fall asleep whilst praying and praying that things will become easier for my DD. Felt a lot calmer when I woke up. Thanks again x

Polkadotdelight · 31/01/2020 13:21

I want to thank all of you! I could feel a panic attack coming on the other night and I made myself sit and read through all your soothing posts. I've not posted on this thread before but you really helped me.

ScaredyCat123 · 31/01/2020 15:32

Thank u @2018SoFarSoGreat
Feeling a little better today x

stressedsideways · 01/02/2020 02:23

I really need the night watch people tonight. I'm stressed and sad and scared :(

My manager sent a glowing reference but made a negative (untrue) comment on it. Now I am worried they will retract.

He also got my notice wrong. Its twice as long but he already told everyone. He then said it was okay.

I am terrified about being screwed with no job very soon. Also I have to contact the new place on Monday to explain the comment.

In between abject panic and dread.

I need to park it here and sleep for 9 hours. xx

HannaYeah · 01/02/2020 02:42

Hey @stressedsideways, I’m here, I’ve got you.

And I’m a veteran work worrier. So let me handle it tonight and even through tomorrow.

You breathe, sleep, eat and take care of your family and loved one.

I promise your worries will be well minded.

Thank you so much for minding my worries nightwatch @HannaYeah

Your post made me smile and when you are not feeling joy that is everything.

I've had 7.5 hours of reasonable sleep thanks to parking my worries here and I feel like I can get through 1 more day.

That's all we can hope for when things are hard isn't it, taking each day at a time.

I'll take some of my worries back today and
I'll come back and park them again tonight so I can sleep.

@Polkadotdelight Soothing words, the comfort of another human and the 'fable' of mumsnet nightwatch are remedies, like the ancient children's bedtime story.

I sometimes listen to sleep stories on my phone and hug my pillow really tight for comfort. Grown adults need to believe in good things too Smile Flowers

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 01/02/2020 10:29

I’m sorry I wasn’t “on duty” last night, I got into bed at 10 and had a quick snuggle with the cat, the next thing I knew it was 7 o clock Blush
Please, anyone who has any worries that need watching, even if I’m not here, still send them over here. They can snuggle in with me and the cat all cosy and warm.

indianbackground · 01/02/2020 16:37

I’m up for a bit of minding for any of you in a time zone where it’s night.

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 01/02/2020 22:39

I’m signing in for the night watch, Send any worries this way. The cat has me pinned down for his evening cuddles at the moment so he will definitely keep any problems in their place.

Polkadotdelight · 01/02/2020 22:55

After this thread helped me do much the other night I'm here to pass it on. My electric blanket is on and my 5 year old is snoring next to me. Send your worries my way and get some rest. Things always feel worse at night.

stressedsideways · 02/02/2020 01:48

Also signing in to wish you all good night. I'll pop some of my worries here and put a few of others under my pillow too for keeping them safe. One sleep at a time Flowers
