I am 50% of the way through chemo. (second time around)(different primary)

My DS (18) has just been diagnosed with depression I think me being diagnosed again was the tipping point.

Due to above I am having to delegate Christmas, it will get done, it did before just not my way.

DH retiring in three years, should be more than enough to live on, but at the moment I am worrying (Like I couldn't worry about that closer to the time) Hmm

Sausage rolls, my job, ditto mince pies.........if they don't happen my DH and my DS will suck it up. Just me worrying.

DS struggling in college and have to go to a meeting on Wednesday

So if some of the night shift would like to come and mind my ,worries whilst I attempt to sleep, it would be gratefully received.

Feel free to add your own, just writing that down has helped.

I'm new to this lovely thread but I'm happy to mind anyone's worries. Smile

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 20/01/2020 23:32

Good evening all. It’s that time again. Me and the cat are tucked up and there’s plenty of space in the bed for your worries.
Leave them here and we’ll soon have them snuggled in.
Sleep well.

LollipopViolet · 21/01/2020 07:09

I'm at work today, but have room in my bag if anyone in a different time zone needs some worries minding while they sleep :)

This thread is lovely :)

Sandysaurus · 21/01/2020 22:41

So many worries tonight, I don't know where to start. Please would someone take my load on for a while? I am so tired.

NumbersStation · 21/01/2020 22:45

@Sandysaurus

I’ve got you flower. Pile them all on. They can sit here with me all night as I’m on call. That’ll teach them.

Sleep well flower. Night night Flowers

maldivemoment · 21/01/2020 22:54

Could I ask someone to have my worries for a wee while?

5 year old Daughter currently sleeping beside me. She had a terrible night last night - I think she has an ear infection but can't get GP apt until tomorrow. I've got pretty bad health anxiety so don't do very well in these situations.

FIL also v unwell; days? Weeks? Who knows...

So I'm also worrying about my husband. And telling the children...and so on, and so on.

Thank you to whoever wants to sit with my worries in the hope that I get a little sleep x

NumbersStation · 21/01/2020 23:00

I’ve got you too @maldivemoment
Plenty room here.

Sore ears? Remember them well from childhood. I hope the doc Can sort her out tomorrow.

As for your FIL. I’m so very sorry. The love you have for eachother will see you through the worst of times. I know that won’t make the coming times easy but you will be in my thoughts.

I’ve got you for tonight lovely. May you sleep soundly flower Flowers

HannaYeah · 21/01/2020 23:02

@maldivemoment

I’m here and will take them all.

maldivemoment · 21/01/2020 23:08

Such gentle reassurance yet so powerful.

Huge thanks. x

QueenOfIce · 22/01/2020 01:28

I'm here and have lots of space to mind anyone's worries.

HannaYeah · 22/01/2020 03:34

@QueenOfIce would you take mine for a few hours? I’d really appreciate it and you can tell them to mind their manners and make themselves small.

ioioitsoff · 22/01/2020 04:20

@maldivemoment your Dd has my utmost sympathy as I currently feel like gouging out my ear with a knitting needle. I'm blessed with unusually short Eustachian tubes apparently

2018SoFarSoGreat · 22/01/2020 05:23

@HannahYeah I've got you. You go rest up. Let your worries float over to me. There. Cosy in.

Vinosaurus · 22/01/2020 05:36

Morning all - I could do with a bit of company. Sitting here and just had enough. Been awake since 3.45 (asleep are 12.30) as since about 4 weeks ago I seem to have lost the ability to sleep. I've gotta be up in just over 30 minutes.

I've had regular palpitations for about 2 days now too which freak the bejesus out of me and don't really help with the trying to get to sleep.

Once upon a time meditation or listening to sleep stories (there's tonnes on an app I've got called Calm) would have done the trick, but they aren't effective at all anymore.

Pretty sure it's anxiety related - recently stopped seeing a psychotherapist who had been treating me for PTSD for a long time after a nasty medical event that almost finished me off. It's shit it's come back so quickly.

I'm so sorry for all of you experiencing such difficult and worrying times (mine really pale into insignificance in comparison). Nighttime really is the loneliest.

maldivemoment · 22/01/2020 05:40

Oh man, I've had about 4 hours of very broken sleep. I'm now wide awake & need to get up in half an hour for work! This is grim...

I should add that your kindness allayed my worries but I have my daughters horrid cold. Sore throat, achey limbs etc, which is why I couldn't sleep.

Everything seems worse in the dark. Sure it'll be fine once I'm up, showered & on the go.

Thanks for babysitting my worries. I may ask the same if you tonight if that's okay?

maldivemoment · 22/01/2020 05:43

You're not alone vino 👋 Tis indeed a lonely time.

Regarding the insomnia, I can totally relate to your experience. Have you tried magnesium supplements? I found they helped.

Vinosaurus · 22/01/2020 05:45

Thanks Maldi, yes I take a tablet every evening - I initially took them for palpitations and they really helped, but even they seem to have lost some of their potency.

Vinosaurus · 22/01/2020 05:48

And sorry to hear your DD is feeling so crappy. Health anxiety is a bitch, I've had it quite badly since I got sick back in 2018 so know how it can really take over your thoughts.

maldivemoment · 22/01/2020 05:50

😣 sorry they're not working so well.

I've just downloaded the app you recommended

I hope your day is relatively uneventful & the world shows you some kindness.

We got this. We can do it ,,,

QueenOfIce · 22/01/2020 05:50

I've got them Hannah, I hope you're sound asleep worry free.

Vinosaurus · 22/01/2020 05:53

You too Maldi - and hell yeah we've got this!

Sandysaurus · 22/01/2020 18:39

Numbers thank you so much for your support last night. You were the only one to reply to my message and it made the world of difference. Thank you.

NumbersStation · 22/01/2020 18:44

@sandysaurus

It is a pleasure to be of assistance. I hope your worries feel a little lighter. If they don’t I am here on duty tonight (and also in working life) so I can carry your load if you feel the need.

You are not alone and worries can be carried (and stamped into submission).

Here if you need us. Flowers (and a hug if you need one)

QueenOfIce · 22/01/2020 20:08

Reporting for duty for the next few hours, send everything this way I have a lovely new pink velvet bag to pop them in. 💕
