So NC for this as not sure if neighbours are on here.

I am off today & woke up to the sound of doors banging and loud voices.

Have a glance out of bedroom window & there are 2 vans & a land rover parked on my ACTUAL drive!

Now I guess it's easily mistaken as a public car park Hmmso don't say anything immediately but once I'm up and toddler is dressed I go downstairs to see.

My next door neighbours are away on holiday. But of a weird driveway as their house has its own but it's round the back of ours and ours is at front so if you use sat nav it brings you to ours as their house is other side of our driveway ifyswim.

Diagram to show you what I mean.

Anyway they are unloading tools etc onto big sheets on my drive and walking over grass to neighbours

I said to them it was a private drive and could they move onto neighbours and they said they won't be long Angry

I was too shocked to say much more than 'no please move now'

Grrrrrrr!

You deffo need to go for a long walk. Your DS needs to go the park and have an ice cream, then you need to go to the shops/library/friends house for tea on the way back.

ElizaDee · 07/08/2019 12:01

How long can you leave your car there for OP?

I'd be tempted to leave it there a few days, even if it meant I had to get a cab/train.

BananasAreTheSourceOfEvil · 07/08/2019 12:02

Im actually shocked- who gets asked to move and then just decides not to?

higgyhog · 07/08/2019 12:02

We have had CF road menders outside our house Instead of stacking all their little fences and ropes etc. within the road closure they have stored them in our garden. When we asked them to move them they said they would have to check with the land d registry that it really was our garden We crept out yesterday evening and threw the whole lot down their hole!
I feel so much better for that.

WiltedDaffs · 07/08/2019 12:03

So far his “I won’t be long” and “I’m going in a minute” have translated to almost 2 hours.

Maybe when he asks you to move your car, you should tell him you “won’t be long” then move it 2 hours later.

Morgan12 · 07/08/2019 12:04

I love your handwriting!

Can't believe they haven't moved yet. They would have 100% moved had this been your DH asking.

Sunandrainallconfusedhere · 07/08/2019 12:04

Have a glass of Winewith lunch. Tell him you can't move the car til dh gets back...

PuppyMonkey · 07/08/2019 12:05

Oh bugger, not the curse of the MN invisible pictures again.Sad

I’d definitely go out for a walk for four or five hours now. Or even better, order a taxi and tell them loudly you need the nearest airport while loading several suitcases.Grin

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 07/08/2019 12:05

Cheeky fuckers. Can't believe they haven't moved yet! I can only see the first diagram too 😞

GruciusMalfoy · 07/08/2019 12:06

Have you got a jetwasher, OP?

How fast do you think you could get them to move if you start aiming for their tools?

cakesandphotos · 07/08/2019 12:06

@higgyhog I like your style!

TheMaddHugger · 07/08/2019 12:10

"whispers" I can't see the drawings 😨🙊🤪

PestoCaffeinisto · 07/08/2019 12:14

Grin @ Higgyhog

Level75 · 07/08/2019 12:16

I think they are not insured for damage when parked on private property without permission...

Blueoasis · 07/08/2019 12:16

Kee blocking him in and when he asks you to move, tell him you won't be long. Then spend the next few hours watching re runs of TV. Grin

youngestisapsycho · 07/08/2019 12:19

Are his tools still out on your drive? I would go out there and start moving them out of your gate on to the pavement outside your house....

PrayingandHoping · 07/08/2019 12:20

Have u got a hose pipe and a sprinkler? Get it out and position it on your lawn by their tools and vans and say you're watering your lawn!

YouJustDoYou · 07/08/2019 12:21

He'd never do this if you were a man. Or a 6 foot man. Fucking builders, I had this once a few years ago when the neighbours were getting work done, their builders parked across the drive so I couldn't get out to get my son to nursery. They refused to move, said "yeah in a minute love". Makes my blood boil.

mummaminnie · 07/08/2019 12:21

I'm loving the idea about the jetwasher or maybe your toddler could empty a full potty over the tools WinkGrin

Rockmeamaryllis · 07/08/2019 12:21

Why can’t I see the pictures?

VanGoghsDog · 07/08/2019 12:22

@ElizaDee

Nom that Express article is so badly written t's untrue! It's basically saying, as people have said on this thread, that there is no criminal offence of parking on someone else's land* - which is correct - and that as it is a civil offence the authorities cannot help you with it - which is also correct.

(*unless it becomes 'aggravated')

There is no 'loophole', there is no 'law' to say people can park on your drive any more than there is a law saying people can sit on your drive, or in your garden, or walk through your open front door....etc - all that would be trespass for which you only have civil remedies which means suing them in court at your own cost. Which, yes, could of course cost many thousands of pounds.

Idiotic article.

YesQueen · 07/08/2019 12:22

Last time someone parked in my space, I blocked them in, took the doorbell off and went for a very long bath WinkBlush
I've also driven over toys etc left there (disclaimer it's an 11 year parking war so anything is fair game now)

Troels · 07/08/2019 12:22

Go over get bolshy, hands on hips, and tell him "OY, I've had enough of you, get you dam van off my bloody driveway, go round the other side and park on that driveway you cheeky fecker"
If it doesn't move, "my kids are coming out and are playing round it with marker pens and sidewalk chalk and I'm taking any tools left on my drive as mine"
Get the hose, wet his stuff.
Start walking around it, touch things, touch the tyre valves, look shifty.

Travis1 · 07/08/2019 12:24

Lock the gates and drive away. That'll put the shitters up him. What a sod
