So NC for this as not sure if neighbours are on here.

I am off today & woke up to the sound of doors banging and loud voices.

Have a glance out of bedroom window & there are 2 vans & a land rover parked on my ACTUAL drive!

Now I guess it's easily mistaken as a public car park Hmmso don't say anything immediately but once I'm up and toddler is dressed I go downstairs to see.

My next door neighbours are away on holiday. But of a weird driveway as their house has its own but it's round the back of ours and ours is at front so if you use sat nav it brings you to ours as their house is other side of our driveway ifyswim.

Diagram to show you what I mean.

Anyway they are unloading tools etc onto big sheets on my drive and walking over grass to neighbours

I said to them it was a private drive and could they move onto neighbours and they said they won't be long Angry

I was too shocked to say much more than 'no please move now'

Grrrrrrr!

If the tools are not dangerous set the kitchen timer for 3 minutes and get your toddler to see how many he can hide in hedges for the nice man to seek.Grin

QOD · 07/08/2019 11:26

OMG this would ‘drive’ me insane 😂

Seeline · 07/08/2019 11:27

If your neighbour is away, are you sure that they are actually workmen? They're not just loading the contents of nextdoor into their can?

WhoKnewBeefStew · 07/08/2019 11:28

WhoKnewBeefStew · 07/08/2019 11:28

I meant, love the drawing Grin

lovesapinot · 07/08/2019 11:28

@diddl cause I don't need to go out yet and it was the only pass agg thing I could do at the time to make my point!

Updated drawing. To demonstrate closed gates.

Also toddler has lost spaceship pen. Not happy. But found a cat/crab one.

I admit I may be enjoying this as never get any juicy stuff to post about!

Is the van white?

Can you send toddler outside with paw print and other stamps and put prints all over the van (toddler height obvs)?

britnay · 07/08/2019 11:31

just go back inside and when they come and ask you to move, just repeat one of their earlier phrases back to them and shut the door.

lovesapinot · 07/08/2019 11:33

@iMatter yes it's white. As is other van and the Land Rover is grey.

One is a plastering firm and other is oven cleaning and carpet cleaning.

Hmmm I could do with my oven cleaned may ask for a freebie if this persists Hmm

12/10 diagram- loving the paw prints. Dedicated.
And you definitely were not unreasonable. I’d have gone mad

IvanaPee · 07/08/2019 11:35

Do you mean you’ve closed your gates? Sure that won’t do anything if they’re walking across your lawn!

Put your car over the sheet things and tell them you’ll be calling their company about getting the lawn re-seeded from the damage they’re doing.

lovesapinot · 07/08/2019 11:38

I have @IvanaPee it's half over and v close to van. But seriously this guy clearly gives zero fucks.

jetlaggedmummy · 07/08/2019 11:42

I'd have done the opposite - if they were preventing you accessing the public highway, rather than drive over their stuff, tell them you are going out and they are to move now. Preventing access to the public highway is an offence.

UserNameDeletedShortly · 07/08/2019 11:44

I'm on my phone - the mobile site.
I can't see the diagrams.

ohtheholidays · 07/08/2019 11:44

Get the details from the dickheads van and post pictures and write about his shitty attitude all over any social media you can find that belongs to the company.

diddl · 07/08/2019 11:45

Is there a 2nd diagram? I can only see the first.

probstimeforanewname · 07/08/2019 11:50

I'd leave the car blocking him in and go for a long walk.

And lose the car key for a bit.

lovesapinot · 07/08/2019 11:51

There's now three diagrams.

They are now having another tea break.

reenon · 07/08/2019 11:51

Block him in and pretend to get on the wine. Then you can't move your car as you're over the limit....

Indicative · 07/08/2019 11:54

I can't see diagram 2 and 3. Tell him he needs to move now otherwise he will remain blocked in until tomorrow as you are off on a (train) trip!

Clangus00 · 07/08/2019 11:54

Is it a company vehicle? Phone the company? Might not work if it rings his mobile mind you.

Apolloanddaphne · 07/08/2019 11:57

This is a great thread and has immensely cheered me up!

SwearyG · 07/08/2019 11:57

I would be unable to move my car until the morning now if I were you OP. It’s not inconvenient to him to be blocked on your driveway whilst working next door is it? It will be mightily inconvenient when he needs to go home.

If he won’t move when asked nicely - several times - then I would dig my heels in and be an absolute pain when he needed me to move.

Lweji · 07/08/2019 11:58

I think these are always excellent occasions to wash the drive/water the lawn.
