Next door's -thug- cat

Has started coming in our house and stealing cat food.
Our cats dislike him. (understatement...)
Once he's in it's a problem removing him because he growls, hisses and then attacks us (launches at our legs etc).
He spends an inordinate amount of time in our garden or staring in through the French windows. Any suggestion how to gently discourage him? I have no intention of having outside doors shut for the whole summer.
Enclosed a picture of him sitting on our outside table.

I'll bet Fluffy, Sybil was the only one holding the line!

It would be great if we could see some photographic proof, I sorely miss seeing and reading about TC's shenanigans - perhaps you could ask your neighbour to document the evidence and then we can have a bumper crop of TC's exploits to view next week Grumpy.

TremblingFanjo · 07/08/2019 17:18

Sybil will have moved into your neighbour on the other side when you get back.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 07/08/2019 23:21

Saw this book while on holiday.
It seemed surprisingly topical.

Just popping on to say that Katey Abey's stuff is amazing. MNers would love her 'off you fuck' cats 😂🐾

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 08/08/2019 15:12

Delighted to report that I'm a cat magnet on holiday as well as at home.
Very friendly black tomcat demanding attention from us at the harbour of a local fishing village.

He will likely try to sneak into your suitcase when you are about to go home. Grin
Enjoy the holiday!

CassandraCross · 08/08/2019 15:36

He's a beauty isn't he, proper pure black.

Nonstopbuttmachine · 08/08/2019 15:55

Ooh, I love holiday cats 😻 Looks like he has a slight rusty coat a la Basil?

idhavenoluckifitwasntforbadluc · 08/08/2019 16:28

😂

Scruffalicious · 11/08/2019 10:15

First photo of HC (Holiday Cat) looks like he stepped out of an Old Spice ad!!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 11/08/2019 20:15

Just back - and bumped into NDN on the street who confirmed he had just fed ours so they were all in.
So we were greeted with complete indifference by our four - but no guesses about who was outside the back waiting to greet us. He then jumped on a chair to say hello as soon as I opened the back door. Grin

Aw, he likes you!

YetAnotherSpartacus · 11/08/2019 20:30

Heeeeeeee’s back!!! I missed my TC fixes!

Did you have a good holiday Grumpy?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 11/08/2019 20:41

bumped into NDN on the street

NDN might've made it look like a casual bump-into-the-neighbours butt he was listening for your car while frantically trying to find and evict TC while removing all the evidence that he was living in your house .

TC is now acting all nonchalant like but there will be a large Bengal shaped fur covered indentation in your favourite chair .

Your own cats will have accepted him or left home . Do a quick body count , TC might've sold Sybil on Gumtree already .

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 11/08/2019 20:52

Well he's cettainly made a lot more effort to say 'Welcome back' than mine have Grin.
The grumpy family had a very nice break in Sunny Scotland thank you - remarkably while the weather forecast was rubbish - the actual weather in Fife this week was pretty good.
To confirm I can find no evidence of TC incursion - and definitely still have four (albeit fairly antisocial) cats of my own.

This Grin

Have you checked whether Sybil is still there?

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 11/08/2019 21:06

Sybil is definitely still here - she's dug out a very old catnip mouse and is now purring her head off.

Sybil has a disciplinary air about her. She does look pleased to see you, behind the schoolmarm look.

TC has started to help with household chores eg unloading cat in a pathetic attempt to make himself indispensable.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 11/08/2019 21:58

That might not be TC, you might have inadvertantly picked up a Scottish Wildcat . They look very similar .

Pick it up and give it a good old kiss'n'cuddle .The injuries will give you a clue as to which cat .

(It's like my two black cats . Quick swipe of the paw - Tarot. Loss of the top layer of skin-Dexter)

ZincOxideEugenol · 11/08/2019 22:17

Wow Sybil is a beauty!

TremblingFanjo · 12/08/2019 08:40

Sybil is definitely still here of course she is. She wants to see the look on your face when you discover she's left something dead in each of your shoes as punishment for leaving her in sole charge of Thug Cat Defence.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 12/08/2019 10:59

70isaLimit
Ooened the front door to let Sybil and Karl in this morning. They came in past TC while studiously ignoring him.
I decided to take the opportunity to try your wild cat test this morning.
Cat bit and scratched me. Clearly TC.

Really? He looks like he's begging for his beautiful belly to be rubbed and smooched.
