Next door's -thug- cat

Has started coming in our house and stealing cat food.
Our cats dislike him. (understatement...)
Once he's in it's a problem removing him because he growls, hisses and then attacks us (launches at our legs etc).
He spends an inordinate amount of time in our garden or staring in through the French windows. Any suggestion how to gently discourage him? I have no intention of having outside doors shut for the whole summer.
Enclosed a picture of him sitting on our outside table.

An apologetic update to all TC's fans now facing a dearth of updates.
I'm on holiday for a week. NDN (TC's dad) is looking after our cats/house while we're away.

Ribrabrob In terms of TC's real name, I'm afraid I'm not at liberty to reveal that (NDN has asked that I don't) - but it isn't 'Fluffy'. Since this thread got underway we now refer to him as TC anyway Grin.

NDN (TC's dad) is looking after our cats/house while we're away.

Oh!

Picture the scene: NDN gets your keys in the morning and goes off to your house to feed the cats , open curtains , do trays etc.

TC sees this and wonders "What's occuring?"

After the evening feed and check, he'll twig .

Next morning , he'll slide along into your house like a Stealth Ninja .....your NDN will search and worry . TC will slide out in the evening and go home
"Been here all day" all innocent like .

Repeat next day till he's established .

He has watched all those Can't Pay We'll Take It Away series and Judge Rinder .
He knows the Law .

He'll be A Fixture

YetAnotherSpartacus · 04/08/2019 09:37

I think TC will just steal the keys and let himself in.

Is NDN on MN? He should be...

Maybe he could post updates about what naughty things the Grumpy Foursome get up to...

Stage 2 complete!

qazxc · 04/08/2019 10:38

Op comes back from holiday to find ndn and TC have moved into his house.

Yep water pistol or hose. It sounds mean but you're only getting them wet but you've got to show some active disencouragement. I remember my dad taking a tomcat by the scruff of the neck and dosing it under the kitchen sink because it terrorised our pet cats when I was younger. It seemed to work from memory anyway.

CassandraCross · 04/08/2019 10:53

Bwekfusth & Stillstrawberrywater how nice of you two to come on a thread advocating cruelty to animals, it is abundantly clear neither of you had the courtesy or intelligence to read the thread before posting your comments.

Bwekfusth · 04/08/2019 11:00

@CassandraCross did I advocate cruelty to animals? Or are you just feeling a tad sensitive this morning?

Stillstrawberrywater · 04/08/2019 11:04

No, I did not sift through 25 pages. Op wanted a solution and I've put a suggestion forward. It's water. It's harmless. The cat runs off dries itself off and thinks twice before returning. No harm comes of it.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 04/08/2019 11:12

Is this the TC version of 'cancel the cheque'?

Allergictoironing · 04/08/2019 11:16

Stillstrawberrywater So after 3.5 MONTHS you thought you would make a suggestion without thinking about whether someone else may have already said that? The fact that the thread IS 25 pages long may have suggested that things could have moved on just a little since the OP Hmm

And Bwekfusth He punched it in the face afterwards. Hard. is definitely advocating cruelty to cats! Angry

Bwekfusth · 04/08/2019 11:26

@Allergictoironing after it sank its teeth in to his wrist and hand several times when he tried removing it from our house as it kept coming in, eating all our cats food and attacking him in his own territory. I did say I wouldn't actually punch a cat in the face. But some animals are just shit, much like some humans.

CassandraCross · 04/08/2019 11:31

Don't try and patronise me *Bwekfush, punching any animal hard in the face is cruel. Holding a cat under water in a kitchen sink is equally cruel and if you had bothered to read the read Stillstrawberrywater you would have seen that your 'solution' is neither wanted nor warranted.

The old adage that It is best to keep quiet and be thought of as a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt fits Bwekfush & Stillstrawberrywater to a T.

Bwekfusth · 04/08/2019 11:40

Not trying to patronise you @CassandraCross :) Biscuit

YetAnotherSpartacus · 04/08/2019 11:47

Purrphaps a thread summary would help?

Earlier in the thread Grumpy posted some pictures of TC.
The litter tray fell in love.
Grumpy admitted that he quite liked TC too - especially when he wasn't trying to rip his arm off.
Grumpy's cats are in a controlled game of cat chess with TC - except Sybil who is holding her ground in an all-out war.
TC has been amusing us all with his attempts to ambush the Grumpy House
The Grumpy Household (except Sybil) are generally quite good humoured about this.
Grumpy has found fame and glory on MN TLT and is now cashing in on a trip away ...
In other words - the thread has degenerated into farce and no one needs to read accounts of cats being punched or drenched or otherwise cruelly treated.

Bookworm4 · 04/08/2019 15:21

Well said @YetAnotherSpartacus
Who the hell would post about punching cars and holding them under taps? Vile people 🤬

Bookworm4 · 04/08/2019 15:22
  • cats not cars
Scruffalicious · 04/08/2019 16:46

Have a good hol, and looking forward to TC updates afterwards!

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/08/2019 17:04

TC thinks he lives there anyway so seeing his dad there won’t be that confusing, it’s all one homogenous household now.

Ellmau · 04/08/2019 17:30

Good looks and charm will help you get away with a lot of bad behaviour ;)

sweetkitty · 04/08/2019 17:46

This is The Litter Tray frequented by cat lovers who all secretly wish for a TC too.
I have a beautiful Maine Coon girl over the back fence but alas we will never make fence due to our stupid dog who goes berserk as soon as she sees her. Baring in mind in the house the same dog is terrified of an 11 week old kitten!

Happy holidays OP (TC will look after your house/move in whilst you are away)

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 06/08/2019 21:37

Just texted NDN to check that the cats are all alive and to ask if TC has moved in yet.
He replied 'Yes' to both Shock.
Hope he's joking about the second one.

He’s not joking, I bet Sybil’s fuming.
