Next door's -thug- cat

Has started coming in our house and stealing cat food.
Our cats dislike him. (understatement...)
Once he's in it's a problem removing him because he growls, hisses and then attacks us (launches at our legs etc).
He spends an inordinate amount of time in our garden or staring in through the French windows. Any suggestion how to gently discourage him? I have no intention of having outside doors shut for the whole summer.

We are new to TC's thread, we have spread him all over. Whilst we know he is a naughty puss we are completely in his thrall. We absolutely love your relationship with your NN. Our gigantic brush tail won't tolerate another cat... Only if he thinks we are looking.

My female (Tarot) is picking up the Female cats MUST rule memo and last night pole positioned herself on the arm of the sofa to pounce on her shy brother as he wandered out for a pee .
