To ask for a round up of all the little MN in-jokes?

Mods, feel free to delete this if it's not okay!

I've been here some months now, and I've noticed a lot of little in-jokes around that come from old threads, some of which are in Classics, etc. Usually when I come across a reference that I don't recognize, someone is kind enough to explain it to me (and sometimes even link the original thread!) but I thought it might be nice, and kind of fun, to gather together as many as we can in one thread!

I'll start. The one that always sticks out to me is the one about the Mexican house thief. That's from this thread.

The other one that had me in absolute stitches was the saga of Sharon, the wasp, and the wine that never reached the carpet, which starts here, and apparently continues here with someone "t-rexing in the Asda"... Hysterical, I tell you.

I'm really hoping some long-time MNers will be along to link to such joys as "cancel the check"; "pom bears"; "Maui"; and the one where everyone MumsNetted as their toddlers :D

(I'm sorry if this is against some unwritten rule. It's not REALLY a thread about a thread, it's a thread about a lot of threads...)

There was a great thread in chat that sadly didn't make it to classics, called 'look at this sad, sad lady' and then the first post was something like 'and not at her tits, ok?'
About a lady who was turned away from her local pub for dressing in a less than classy fashion. And who'd gone full on Daily Mail Sad Face (which may have spawned that phrase)

Someone then linked to a blog called 'angry people in local news' who then put up a special post welcoming us all because they saw a spike in their traffic... it was great! I was sneakily reading it at work and kept needing to wipe the tears from my face.

SandDunesAndSaltyAir · 20/07/2017 22:02

Has anyone posted the one where Shiny set up a fake date with some loser she was seeing who was playing around and all the MNers went along to watch? There were penguins involved. It was probably about 8 years ago now though.

SandDunesAndSaltyAir · 20/07/2017 22:03

Oh yes sorry, the Shiney penguin fake date has been done!

SamineShaw · 20/07/2017 22:07

Ok I have lined up my reading for my entire holiday next week 😂😂

drspouse · 20/07/2017 22:07

Oh where is Tidy's update?

WashBasketsAreUs · 20/07/2017 22:57

Reading "poo cubes" made me laugh out loud. I've only just found the joy that is Mumsnet and that one was before my time. I wish I'd been here then so i could have shared my own poo story!

notaslimceagirl · 20/07/2017 23:10

Super soaker

Ontheboardwalk · 21/07/2017 00:12

Right that's it, I've not RTFT but I'm reporting this thread!!

I've done nothing all day but read the classics links on the first page and we're now on page 3.

I had plans to do real things tomorrow. Think I'll have to put them off to catch up.

Ontheboardwalk · 21/07/2017 00:18

Oh and I did did not do a T-Rex pose

faithinthesound · 21/07/2017 01:20

As long as you didn't do Tony Maguire, or god forbid, Mole, we're fine.

What about that time when Anyfucker got banned and there was practically a riot...?

faithinthesound · 21/07/2017 02:49

I honestly did not expect this thread to be so popular lol. I sort of expected to be told to "get to fck" (popular expression used by MNetters for cheeky fckers, apparently) because I'm new-ish haha!

I am really feeling the love.

I seem to remember a very funny thread about olympic horses?

Havalina · 21/07/2017 03:01

There was a very odd one between mostly one woman and one man, where they mostly talked about dancing (salsa maybe) and basically seemed to be having a very public emotional affair. Confused [have been here a long time]

BoreOfWhabylon · 21/07/2017 03:28

I don't think you can see the pic of the SEB any more (it was on the OP's profile). But it's on this thread if you scroll down a bit

Also several other classic threads Grin

TidyDancer · 21/07/2017 05:41

Haha! Gluezilla has never apologised but I have bumped into her parents since the wedding and they don't look me in the eye so I'm assuming they know!

MN was actually a massive support to me when that was going on because as amusing at the whole debacle was, it was quite hurtful to be treated like that by a friend. You guys made it a lot easier to handle!

SamineShaw · 21/07/2017 08:18

Saw this and thought of the dinosaur deniers, they must be apoplectic 😂

  • are only used on MN to do bold. (Or mysteriously produce a blank post)

The expression is fuck off to the far side of fuck and fuck odd some more.

SDTG I didn't know that HD had rimmed the labrador! 😂😂😂 She's a legend.

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 21/07/2017 10:46

Ah Lweji you have reminded me of the 'oh fuck rucksack' Grin

FruBayerischOla · 21/07/2017 10:55

And the dustbin â„¢ Grin

Who trademarked the dustbin, was it Stratters or someone else?!
