To ask for a round up of all the little MN in-jokes?

Mods, feel free to delete this if it's not okay!

I've been here some months now, and I've noticed a lot of little in-jokes around that come from old threads, some of which are in Classics, etc. Usually when I come across a reference that I don't recognize, someone is kind enough to explain it to me (and sometimes even link the original thread!) but I thought it might be nice, and kind of fun, to gather together as many as we can in one thread!

I'll start. The one that always sticks out to me is the one about the Mexican house thief. That's from this thread.

The other one that had me in absolute stitches was the saga of Sharon, the wasp, and the wine that never reached the carpet, which starts here, and apparently continues here with someone "t-rexing in the Asda"... Hysterical, I tell you.

I'm really hoping some long-time MNers will be along to link to such joys as "cancel the check"; "pom bears"; "Maui"; and the one where everyone MumsNetted as their toddlers :D

(I'm sorry if this is against some unwritten rule. It's not REALLY a thread about a thread, it's a thread about a lot of threads...)

There was another similar one before which had the poems - this was cute furry animals one - both great.

Smug git gets arse handed to them on a plate threads are fun.

DoubleNegativePanda · 20/07/2017 14:52

If no one has yet mentioned it, River of Sweetcorn has always been my favorite.

Close second is Poo Cubes

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 20/07/2017 14:54

I remember when we broke the mn time continuum, that was fun.
Also when one poster decided they wanted coloured posts and changed it for all of mn rather than just them, and then mn relented and gave us coloured posts (and then when they tried to limit the colours and there was nearly a riot)
Anyone else remember having to bribe tech/pass tech Wine?

And Honeydragon - yy to being reminded the time and being suggested good to sleep.
Grin

I would go look for that one as well, as I seem to remember it, but instead of doing the cleaning, I have just spent the last hour reading about 2 horses and a massive MN's party in Wales

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 20/07/2017 14:56

Also do we still have any posters who came from that forum (can remember what it was called) which we ended up adopting/keeping?

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 20/07/2017 14:56

*can't remember.

must remember mn does not have edit feature and to double check
who am i kidding I never remember

MN in-joke ^^
There are secret ways to do blank posts

faithinthesound · 20/07/2017 15:22

How?

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 20/07/2017 15:33

I think MNHQ would kill me if I said too much as blank posts can upset Tech quite a lot. Its just a certain combination of symbols that post up as blank.

There was a thread ages ago when people had first discovered how to do this that was full of random symbols and blank posts as people tried to work out how to do it. I think that thread nearly broke the site.
MNHQ came and told us off.

Bollocks, I remembered that thread and managed it, and have now forgotten

SomePeopleAreSoCheeky · 20/07/2017 15:43

OP I am in tears reading Sharon the wasp - thank you FlowersWine

FruBayerischOla · 20/07/2017 15:47

"No one flounced as a result of NYE."

I beg to differ, HoneyDragon. I recall a few long-standing MNers flounced for a while, but then came back.

But there was one who flounced for ever - the "well 'ard" one!

Persemillion · 20/07/2017 16:33

At present times these fun, entertaining threads would be short lived.

A rather innocuous zombie thread was recently deleted after had been awake. Swiftly.

Cat me you cunt. Now. Grin

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 20/07/2017 16:37

Ah cat me you cunt.... those were the days... Grin

Anniegetyourgun · 20/07/2017 16:56

In the context of an otherwise not particularly amusing thread, a poster who had been trying to be helpful lost patience and shouted - does anyone else remember this?

FruBayerischOla · 20/07/2017 16:59

"Cat me you cunt. Now."

I can't remember that one, I'm afraid!!

HoneyDragon · 20/07/2017 17:02

It means. Fru pm me immediately and tell me who flounced in NYE Grin

TroubleinDaFamily · 20/07/2017 17:04

DaddyCool

This was my finest hour. Grin

It went on for days, it wouldn't last sixty seconds these days.

I wonder where DaddyCool is these days, he went to Canada and iirc eventually came back.

TroubleinDaFamily · 20/07/2017 17:05

MSN Now........... subtle or what....Grin

FruBayerischOla · 20/07/2017 17:28

I've remembered the 'cat' thing now, HoneyDragon!! Will PM you!

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 20/07/2017 17:32

Annie
Wasn't that StewieGriffinsMom?
The poster was planning to move to Canada and SGM was advising on the Visa process. The OP was being very dismissive of the advice on the grounds that they would get a Visa without a problem as all Canadians were crap and lazy etc.
SGM tried to reason with these blind assertions then gave up with
