To ask for a round up of all the little MN in-jokes?

Mods, feel free to delete this if it's not okay!

I've been here some months now, and I've noticed a lot of little in-jokes around that come from old threads, some of which are in Classics, etc. Usually when I come across a reference that I don't recognize, someone is kind enough to explain it to me (and sometimes even link the original thread!) but I thought it might be nice, and kind of fun, to gather together as many as we can in one thread!

I'll start. The one that always sticks out to me is the one about the Mexican house thief. That's from this thread.

The other one that had me in absolute stitches was the saga of Sharon, the wasp, and the wine that never reached the carpet, which starts here, and apparently continues here with someone "t-rexing in the Asda"... Hysterical, I tell you.

I'm really hoping some long-time MNers will be along to link to such joys as "cancel the check"; "pom bears"; "Maui"; and the one where everyone MumsNetted as their toddlers :D

(I'm sorry if this is against some unwritten rule. It's not REALLY a thread about a thread, it's a thread about a lot of threads...)

Chelsea26 · 20/07/2017 17:59

Had no one mentioned 'I'm not a poo troll!' Thread? That had me in tears.

drspouse · 20/07/2017 18:02

@TroubleinDaFamily can you post a working link to Daddy Cool?

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 20/07/2017 18:26

Now trying to think which poster might have been around before that NYE but hasn't been seen since.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 20/07/2017 18:33

What about the new Mum who was worried about dressing her new DC in the right clothing for the cold.
Read somewhere that the DC should have one more layer on than the
DM so she took her coat off!!

One I remember from a few years back was when a poster went to visit a friend and was told to take off her shoes and to "Help yourself to artisanal slippers" which were displayed in a basket. The thread that followed had many examples of pretentious/wanky behaviour. Extremely funny.

fannydaggerz · 20/07/2017 19:07

Why the fuck did I just google yoni massage.

MusicToMyEars800 · 20/07/2017 19:12

Place marking...this will make excellent evening entertainment.

NoMoreDecorating · 20/07/2017 19:38

Wasn't there once a threat about a fridge freezer taking a sabath? Or showing sabath on the display? Or something along those lines? I'm sure I laughed at that one...

TidyDancer · 20/07/2017 19:40

Hi OP, I'm the OP from the gluezilla threads!

There is indeed a baby glue now! And gluezilla as far as I'm aware is still an arsehole!

My personal favourite ever thread is the small fluffy bundle one in classics. I laugh until I cry every time I read it! Sorry can't link to it as I'm on the app but it's well worth a read!

Jupitar · 20/07/2017 19:41

Placemarking as I keep reading the old threads and losing this one 😂

HoneyDragon · 20/07/2017 19:41

Jewish fridge is in classics

Pouffealouffe · 20/07/2017 19:43

Mornington Crescent? The thread that no one responds to???

Oblomov17 · 20/07/2017 19:45

Marking. For later reading.

DadDadDad · 20/07/2017 19:57

TidyDancer - at last an update! After 4 years waiting I can't tell you how relieved I am.

dementedma · 20/07/2017 20:08

I love Mornington Crescent

Dolly80 · 20/07/2017 20:23

I love the fat ball one. The OP's writing style made it all the more fun - with gems like

'What fucking recipe starts with string as an ingredient'

I've read it so many times and it's one of the few that I genuinely laugh at.

littlepinkgiraffe · 20/07/2017 21:00

I'm pretty sure the Miss Jolly parking thread got deleted because the neighbour assaulted the OP's DH and he police had to get involved?

MandateMandy · 20/07/2017 21:09

Aw man is TidyDancer still around because I just spent an afternoon neglecting my kids during the summer hols reading all of the Gluezilla threads and I would love an update. I'm begging Tidy - I'll even resort to shit poetry!!

Tidy Dancer your tale of woe,
regarding a bride you used to know,
had me utterly agog and aghast
but thankfully, I have finished at last.
And I know it's a bit of an imposition
but there has been a lengthy intermission
since your final sad conclusion,
and I know it somewhat of an intrusion,
but would you, could you please apprise
as to what happened next- did she apologise?
I'm dying to know if her 'zilla ways persisted,
Or after the nuptials, her crazy desisted.
Either way, I love you Tidy Dancer,
For the way you graciously handled that chancer.

Grin

P.S. Great thread Faith - i am putting the kids to bed and then finishing off a bottle of prosecco from last night and thanks to you the rest of my night is sorted.

MandateMandy · 20/07/2017 21:12

Can't believe Tidy came on the thread while I was composing my work of literary genius! 'SAKE!!! Grin

FrogsSitonLogs · 20/07/2017 21:13

Tidy I love that you posted a 4 year up date. See you in 2021!

soupmaker · 20/07/2017 21:30

Fatball is my absolute favourite. We stopped at Tebay services on the way south on holiday earlier this month and DH had to ask why I was shaking with laughter and had tears running down my face. I kept saying 'artisan scotch egg' and snorting. People were looking at me! The good news is we were there late in the day and purchased said eggs at discounted price.
