I'm going to be a grandfather! Woo hoo! They haven't tuppence to rub together, so there'll be 3 generations under one roof. Still, DD is doing well after the throwing stopped, he's working all the hours God sends, and with luck I shall see New Person into their teens, as opposed to my DF who got less than 7 years of DGF hood. Wish us luck.

QuietNinja: that's really sad. MiniDigrace has 3 granddads (one step) and a great granddad. We were queueing for cuddles earlier.

Evil: not sure. Slightly under a cubic metre, as far as I can judge. Right now he's chattering away to a plush giraffe.

I love that you measure his presents in cubic centimetres! Xmas Grin I bet that he and the giraffe are having a deep, philosophical conversation.

Thank you so much Disgrace - for sharing your wonder and joy with us - and for giving us glimpses of your gorgeous DGS. I've come back to the thread every now and again to catch up. I too had a DGS this year - and oh the joy and pleasure that he's brought to us...! Happy New Year to you and your family Bear

Lovely ❤️ lovely, lovely, lovely.

A joy to read.

Beautiful child and grandpa

DodoPatrol · 08/01/2018 13:19

Oh gosh this is a gorgeous thread, and that picture in the box!!

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 14/01/2018 12:58

For some reason I can't post pictures, so you'll have to wait for the "foot in mouth" and "handbag helicopter" pictures.

Love this thread. Huge congrats.

So lovely and you are a brilliant grandad. I didn't have any grandparents and my children only had some of them briefly. They have lots of lots of lovely aunties though.
He's a lovely chap. Grin

MirandaWest · 23/01/2018 06:59

This is a lovely thread Smile

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 28/01/2018 22:15

One thing that's new, and that makes me feel useful, is feeding him. DD was ebf, so until DGS arrived I'd never given a bottle. Got the nappy changing skills back pretty quickly, especially after he widdled in my face 😂😂😂. I've learned not to let him chew my fingers though, his jaws are like a sheet benderShock.

This is such a lovely thread, makes me deeply miss my two wonderful grandpa's. Your DD is lucky to have a father like you, your little man is such a stunner. It's brought a tear to my eye and a smile to my face all at once.

Iamalltheyhavenow · 28/01/2018 23:23

Disgrace oh how your story takes me back to the very special bond between my youngest DS when he was very little and my DF. It is still there to this day (they are now 86 and 28!) only now, instead of raspberry blowing lessons, they share pub crawls, and deep talks to which no-one else is privy. It is delightful to see. I wish you many happy years to come with your beautiful DGS, and look forward to your next utterly heartwarming post

SchoolMoney · 01/02/2018 20:32

This thread is the best thing I've seen it ages!!! 💓💓💓💓

First steps, although he much prefers to jump up and down.

Other developments: his hand strength is appalling, in that a finger grip makes the joints grind together. He raised a single eyebrow at me in response to a question, which disturbed me not a little. He giggles pretty much non stop, except when eating. Weaning has starting, so I'm relearning the ancient art of spoonwrestling. He's just marvellous.

Such a handsome little chap. Keep the lovely updates coming. What are you known as out of curiosity? Are you a Grandpa or Grandad?

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 14/02/2018 11:31

I'm Grandpa, or Poppop. That was DD's name for my dad when he was little. Big shoes to fill.

OP posts:
flapinko · 14/02/2018 20:40

Love Poppop!

soupforbrains · 14/02/2018 22:44

Just wait until the little one starts speaking himself. He'll settle on a name for you all of his own then.

My parents went from Granny and Grandad to Nonna and Gandalf when my DS started talking!

LittleMissDancersmum · 18/02/2018 01:45

This thread is fantastic, I never had a grandfather growing up but my two have amazing grandads, my 2.5 year old son has called my FIL bampa since he could talk and my dad granda the bond they have is lovely to see - I'm sure your DD loves seeing the bond you have with the little prince

ClinkyMonkey · 18/02/2018 02:25

Lovely thread. Adorable little boy. My grandad was Poppop too!

Historydweeb · 19/02/2018 00:15

Possibly one of the most beautiful threads there's ever been. not crying, not crying at all

VaguelyAware · 19/02/2018 00:32

Happy sigh. I saw this thread at the beginning but lost track.

Quite wonderful.
