I'm going to be a grandfather! Woo hoo! They haven't tuppence to rub together, so there'll be 3 generations under one roof. Still, DD is doing well after the throwing stopped, he's working all the hours God sends, and with luck I shall see New Person into their teens, as opposed to my DF who got less than 7 years of DGF hood. Wish us luck.

Right now I'm listening to him and Disgracefulchild downstairs. All the early hard work, the horrible teenage years, the eyewatering sums of money...blown away like cobwebs by the love I feel for both of them. Son out law is a thoroughly good egg: the kind of steady young man I wish I'd been. "Wish no man happy until he is dead". This'll do until then.

I've just read this wonderful thread! Now I'm having a little cry because I miss my amazing DGF and I'm sad because my DD doesn't have a amazing DGF like you. But they're also tears of happiness, because this is the happiest thread ever. I need more sleep, I'm an emotional wreck! 😂

Raising a (it’s a bit early for ) to lovely grandpas everywhere. Including my wonderful old Dad, who held my babies with so much love when they were tiny. Now the eldest one is nearly taller than him!

This makes me feel a bit sad for my kids. I don't have a dad so no grandad on my side and my fil tolerates (barely) my kids/any of his grandkids. Luckily they have loving grandmas but they won't grow up with this sort of relationship and my fil has no idea what he's missing out on.
