I'm going to be a grandfather! Woo hoo! They haven't tuppence to rub together, so there'll be 3 generations under one roof. Still, DD is doing well after the throwing stopped, he's working all the hours God sends, and with luck I shall see New Person into their teens, as opposed to my DF who got less than 7 years of DGF hood. Wish us luck.

Thank you for updating! This thread always makes me so happy.

Hello @DisgraceToTheYChromosome Lovely to see your annual update.
8 year old boys are very much meant to be upside down, in motion in water. It sounds like the ample collection of grown ups in his life are doing an excellent job.

Hello peeps. It's been an interesting year.

The descendants all share the same surname. An epic occasion, including the sight of a not so fat man jumping around to Metallica played on strings. No bad for someone who'd spent 7 hours with a robot sorting his innards 6 weeks previously. The bride and groom looked lovely, DGS sustained a black eye during an impromptu rugby game, and there was much rejoicing.

DGS beat me at chess twice over the festivities. He arrived wearing a t-shirt announcing his future promotion to big brother.

Fingers crossed, next year there'll be a new thread. It will start 9 years after this one.

Happy New Year from us all.

Hello @DisgraceToTheYChromosome
Have been following your thread since the start, this latest update is absolutely joyous, what a fabulous year (apart from the surgery) you have had. Cannot believe it has been nearly nine years though! Have a fabulous 2026, I will look out for the new thread about the second DGC. All the best to you and yours xx

How wonderful! I can’t believe it’s been so long since I first read this thread. Happy new year!

Happy New Year!

We were with the kids on Sunday, and DD & DSIL stared gloopily at each other like newlyweds. Which they are, but they regard their wedding day as pretty close to their true 10th anniversary. It's nice when people make the right choice so early.

Congratulations to all your peeps - long may you all flourish!

Hello peeps. It's nine years since I began this thread. DGS has made those years the best of my life so far.

However...his dad taught him the en passant move yesterday, so the chess games are going to be even more fraught. His capacity for insane feats of strength increases, although his pain threshold is low enough these days to stop him from injuring himself. He plays cricket very like W.G. Grace, refusing to leave the crease when clean bowled or caught. Tsk.

And of course, his little brother is in the offing. Their birthdays will be a month apart at most, so that'll be fun.

So long, and thanks for all the kind wishes. New thread in Chat.
