I'm going to be a grandfather! Woo hoo! They haven't tuppence to rub together, so there'll be 3 generations under one roof. Still, DD is doing well after the throwing stopped, he's working all the hours God sends, and with luck I shall see New Person into their teens, as opposed to my DF who got less than 7 years of DGF hood. Wish us luck.

Oh this thread is lovely. Congratulations to all involved Grin

MsAwesomeDragon · 03/09/2017 10:20

He is gorgeous. My dad behaved similarly when I had dd1. We lived at home with them, and then dad did all my childcare when I went to uni as he was retired. Dd1 and her grandad are very close, even now she's a teenager.

I hope you have as much fun being a grandad as my dad has.

Apileofballyhoo · 04/10/2017 08:57

What a lovely happy thread. The Bonnie Prince will be starting to smile soon!

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 07/10/2017 01:20

Yup. 6 weeks old on Sunday, up to 8lb 7oz, boggling cheerfully at everything. DD is working on her dissertation while pumping, occasionally breaking off to have a farting contest. However, we've learned not to say "Daddy" if son-out-law is delayed at work, or he gets very cross indeed. Which is the best accolade he could have, n'est-ce pas? DW is besotted and does reflexology on his feet. And once again I have a tiny human asleep on my chest, exuding serenity.

He's utterly beautiful, what mutual luck he got you for his Grandad! My own Grandad was the best thing since sliced bread and I suspect his nibs will form the same opinion of you, enjoy Smile

Fightthebear · 07/10/2017 02:29

Can't see any newsprint on him either!

Your baby nuzzling skills must improved since first time around.

He's gorgeous.

Kuriusoranj · 07/10/2017 02:54

I'm echoing what a PP said - this thread is like medicine. It's guaranteed to cheer me up every single time I read it.

He's gorgeous, you're lovely, congratulations to you all!

Lollyb86 · 07/10/2017 03:41

Just gorgeoua..congratulations all round

Weebo · 07/10/2017 04:04

I'm bloody broody now.

Well, I would be if I didn't have a 4-year-old demanding a smoothie at 4 am.

He is scrumptious. This one had the same wee stripey baby grow when he was that small.

GetSchwifty · 07/10/2017 04:15

Beautiful boy, congratulations to you all!

Mustang27 · 07/10/2017 04:21

What an adorable wee boy. You sound like you have been a fantastic dad/grandad this just made my week.

AutumnalLeaves38 · 07/10/2017 04:25

Remember, OP:

Star The best Grandpas are just antique little boys. Wink

Sounds to me that you've never lost, nor will ever lose, your sense of fun...and now you have the perfect tiny accomplice with whom to cause mischief (as well as build sandcastles, point at things with sticks found in hedgerows, etc...).

Here's to many, many happy times together. Something tells me you're probably adept at telling children's stories complete with different character voices?
Best wishes to you all.

TheFaerieQueene · 07/10/2017 12:46

What a handsome chap. 😊

MadameJosephine · 07/10/2017 12:48

What a lovely thread. I adored my maternal grandfather, we had very special bond. He died 26 years ago and I still think of him every day. What a lucky little boy to have that all lying ahead

SwearySwearyQuiteContrary · 07/10/2017 13:01

Utterly divine; you, DW, DD, DSIL and the Little Prince Charming!! Wouldn't it be a different world if every baby came into the same lovely world your DGS has?

MrsSiba · 07/10/2017 13:05

How lovely. I wish my dd had a grandad. ..you sound boss! Smile

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 10/11/2017 10:28

In response to all the kind words, I shall update about once a month until he's a year old. So far: DD and DSIL are doing this parenting thing very well indeed. DW is on Cloud 9. The Little Prince, Stupor Mundi, Melter of Hearts grows apace in looks, intelligence*, and happiness. Also farting, he's often mistaken for a grown-up in volume and pungency.
*He laughs like a loon when I say "antidisestablishmentarianism" anyway. I've attached a photo of him doing just that.
