I'm going to be a grandfather! Woo hoo! They haven't tuppence to rub together, so there'll be 3 generations under one roof. Still, DD is doing well after the throwing stopped, he's working all the hours God sends, and with luck I shall see New Person into their teens, as opposed to my DF who got less than 7 years of DGF hood. Wish us luck.

Thanks beautiful

Shizzlestix · 23/04/2018 20:20

Surely the OP should write books if he doesn’t already do so?? Superb!

What a wonderful thread. He is a smasher!

TammySwansonTwo · 24/04/2018 06:08

What a beautiful thread.

My beautiful twin boys don’t have grandfathers - sadly our own dads were not good men. And my beautiful mum would have made the most wonderful grandmother, but she passed away the year before I got pregnant. Their only grandparent hasn’t seen much of them.

DH and I both spent our early years living with a parent and a grandparent or two, and our grandparents were our most beloved and treasured relatives. Your DGS is going to cherish you for the rest of his life, and I am so happy that he has such a wonderful and loving grandparent - I wish mine had the same, what a lucky boy he is.

Smeddum · 24/04/2018 06:13

Aw he’s lovely! I’ve been following this thread (different usernames) and I’m delighted to see the updates.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 27/04/2018 09:08

Eight months old. He came and bimbled about on my bed while DD was getting ready.
"Eek, haha"
"yes, great big steaming lumps of it"
"hoo, heheheh, akakak."
"Did you really? Get the young woman's address next time"
"Blblblblflssssts".
"Never mind, I'm sure the dry cleaners can get it off".

And as usual, love means having tiny raptor talons digging into my face and ripping out my chest hair. Don't mind it, because his smile is like the sun.

What a wonderful thread. Please don’t stop posting after the first year. It’s so lovely to read about such unconditional love.

Kenworthington · 27/04/2018 09:23

Oh My. I’ve only just happened upon this and just rtft. Glorious. Good work grandpa!

captainjacksparrow · 27/04/2018 09:38

This is just a joy to read. My DF was grandpa which became pampar now shortened to pamps. He will forever be named after a brand of nappies! Most entertaining when he tried to collect a parcel addressed to lamps and had no id Grin

Only just discovered you, and glad I have.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 05/05/2018 10:59

Found it in response to another thread comment - what a gorgeous thread this is, and what an adorable baby grandson! Glad you're having such a great time with your DGS, Disgrace Thanks

soupforbrains · 05/05/2018 15:50

I love your updates op. 8 months is a really really gorgeous age. Their characters become to strong and individual and they're so playful and can't say 'no' yet 😁

GoldenMcOldie · 05/05/2018 16:17

This thread has made me cry and cry.

Not least of all because I needed to be reminded today that the world is okay.

Your love for this little chap has actually made me cry tears of joy. I wish you were my Granddad.

Hazandduck · 05/05/2018 18:23

So happy to have found this wonderful thread! What an amazing granddad you are, makes me miss my own, he was my best mate and would have loved my baby girl x

Yeah, happysobs here too, when DD sang DGS to sleep with "Lavender Blue". We're all ripples on a river, and I'm lucky enough to see downstream.

An hour later we were chasing him round the living room catching poo, just to lower the tone.

As Patrick O'Brian said of Talleyrand, you have to admire the exquisitely dosed insolence. Please ignore the state of the carpet.
