I'm going to be a grandfather! Woo hoo! They haven't tuppence to rub together, so there'll be 3 generations under one roof. Still, DD is doing well after the throwing stopped, he's working all the hours God sends, and with luck I shall see New Person into their teens, as opposed to my DF who got less than 7 years of DGF hood. Wish us luck.

sweeet - lovely pic

jedenfalls · 28/03/2018 00:19

I’ve got something in my eye.

BoreOfWhabylon · 28/03/2018 00:19

Oh Disgrace, this had dropped off my 'Threads I'm On'. So pleased to have found it again.

It makes me happy.

Grandbaby is increasingly gorgeous, if that's possible, and you have definitely got the hang of this Granddadding.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 28/03/2018 00:38

This morning I had him on my lap. Every so often he would stand up, look out out of the window grinning, and then lie on my chest making little squeaks and chirps. I'm a nasty old sod who's done some unpleasant things I regret, but I've got his opinion to live up to.

Oh my goodness, that baby is adorable! 😍

PerspicaciaTick · 28/03/2018 00:56

This is my happy thread. It makes me cry too. Thanks to you and the minis of all ages and sizes for sharing.

Weezol · 28/03/2018 00:58

I keep this thread in 'Watching' in case I accidentally watch the news and begin to despair at the state of things. It's like some kind of magic - a few pages in, all is right with the world and I put the kettle on and open the biscuits.

captainjackandjill · 28/03/2018 01:02

He's such a gorgeous baby! I love your updatesSmile

PrincessFiorimonde · 28/03/2018 01:07

He's a real cutie and your whole family sound great. Whatever unpleasant things you may have done in the past, I'm sure your sins, they are forgiven you (to paraphrase Chesterton). Happy days to all of you!

ShutTheFridgeUp · 28/03/2018 10:33

I love this thread. I like to think if my dad was on MN this is the kind of thing he would write about my DD. They have been the very best of friends for 4 years now!

Sidge · 28/03/2018 10:48

You have such a way with words Disgrace. You have a beautiful grandboy and so much love in your family.

This thread is like a warm snuggly cardigan wrapped round me on this grey rainy day, with a cup of tea in one hand and a jammy dodger in the other.

BoreOfWhabylon · 28/03/2018 10:53

If you're a nasty old sod, Disgrace, then all I can say is the world would be a better place if there were more nasty old sods like you.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 28/03/2018 12:36

Weezol and Sidge: good to know that I'm stimulating biscuit hunger.

I love this thread. It warms my cold, cold heart ❤️

umpteennamechanges · 28/03/2018 13:00

...and I'm totally stealing "I intend his mind to be lavishly and strangely furnished" for my own DC when I have them Smile

DeadButDelicious · 28/03/2018 13:12

What a lovely thread! And what a lovely Grandpa!

I intend his mind to be lavishly and strangely furnished.

I'm nicking this. Love it.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 29/03/2018 13:21

One thing I haven't done which I should have is praise DW for her deliberate hands off approach. Not that she's indifferent, she's enjoying being Grandma enormously. But I know that she feels DD's only child status keenly, and I was watching her for overbearance. She didn't, but I know what it cost her in the early days.
And then there's DSIL. He's a typical quirky guy just out of his teens, into Xbox, footie and dodgy hats. At the same time, he's an utterly brilliant father. He stepped up and he kept going. The bond between them is amazing. Also he can shoot and butcher his own meat. If Trump keeps going, this may come in handy.

Disgrace. I love your strange and elaborate way of writing, your joie de vivre and obvious adoration of your family. Good on you, my dad only lived to see one of his grandchildren, and even then he died before that child was 2.

Aw would you just look at him! Smile

DrWhy · 18/04/2018 19:51

He really is adorable. I live this thread although it makes me cry every time. My Dad would have made an ace Grandad just like you Disgrace

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 19/04/2018 08:28

Have a hug , DrWhy.
He's really developing now. He's mastered crawling, he can stand up holding onto things, and my name is "Haha".
An alarming change from DD's babyhood is the necessity of recording every bump and scrape at home, so nursery know where he got them. He hit himself in the forehead with a wooden toy last night, so there's a form gone in this morning. Better safe than sorry, but it's another thing to remember. Our family spend a LOT of time in A&E.

DrWhy · 19/04/2018 20:54

Thanks Disgrace it’s such fun to watch them learning new things so fast. I’m glad I don’t have to do bump and bruise forms for Nursery - we’d need a book of them! I get accident forms from Nursery fairly often and generally the ‘first aid applied’ is ‘lots of cuddles’ - I love our nursery!

JuanPotatoTwo · 23/04/2018 18:19

I don't come on MN too much any more, and I don't really even know how I stumbled on this thread.

I've been reading it with tears in my eyes because a) Disgrace you sound like a wonderful df and dgf, b) mini Disgrace is absolutely breathtakingly gorgeous, and c) my dh would have been a similarly brilliant dgf but he died last year.

And then I realised that your beautiful dgf was born on the day that dh died Shock. Now I'm laughing and crying. Much love to you and your lovely family.
