Bicarbonate soda

It's cleans my oven along with white vinegar like new (and it was minging)

So I googled other uses for it and you can whiten and remove stains from teeth, so I decided to try it as I always get a stain on my bottom tooth (smoking and coffee) and I've tried everything to get it off inbetween dentist visits and ice just tried it and it's literally took the stain off in seconds!

Just thought I'd share the highlight of my night while everyone in here is in bed

What was the vinegar oven mix then?

Would it work on the glass bit?

skivvywoman · 02/07/2016 10:21

Trooper its fab works on glass like a dream!!

In a ceramic bowl some bicarbonate soda and white vinegar make it in to a paste smear all over oven and glass
Turn oven on to 100 and top up bowl if you have used it all and put in oven for 20-30 mins take out and let oven cool then wash the residue away with a sponge I had to use green scour bit for glass but it came up brillaint

Bicarb of soda is also brilliant for soothing chickenpox. Dust over the itchy spots like talc, or out a cupful in the bath. DD (3) has recovered in record time!

Trooperslane · 02/07/2016 10:38

Will try today!

plimsolls · 02/07/2016 11:13

skivvy I would think so. Won't do any harm and bicarb+vinegar is a good glass cleaner anyway...

Shakey15000 · 02/07/2016 11:19

Definitely going to try the oven one. An awful lot of paste to be made yes? Confused

Or not and you smear it on sparingly?

MadisonAvenue · 02/07/2016 11:27

I use it to clean my silver jewellery. I place a piece of foil in the bottom of a bowl, put in the silver jewellery, pour in enough boiling water to cover it and then add an amount of bicarb (trial and error, you can't go wrong). It fizzes up and within minutes the silver is bright and shiny. Rinse it afterwards btw.

I have some BoS but only in a small pot for baking. I can't wait to get it out for these things but surely I need a huge vat of the stuff? Where do I buy it in large quantities?

HippyHippopotamus · 02/07/2016 11:53

I'm off to put some on my teeth 😁

skivvywoman · 02/07/2016 11:56

Shakey I just made a paste and smeared on

Sprinkle some in the bottom of your kitchen bin and it absorbs smells. I spilled milk in my fridge and it smelt disgusting but BOS left in overnight then fridge cleaned with a paste of it took the stink out. Be careful using too much on your teeth as it can remove the enamel.

GreenRut · 02/07/2016 12:58

Anyone know if it works on toilet bowl stains? As in lime scale?

candybar007 · 02/07/2016 13:19

Mix with White vinegar for the toilet bowl.

skivvywoman · 02/07/2016 14:02

I've currently made a paste and smeared on the inside of the shower cubicle door so let's see how this goes

FaithAscending · 02/07/2016 14:18

Mix with bleach to make a paste then apply to mould in the shower. Leave overnight and rinse, dyes it white!

Floggingmolly · 02/07/2016 14:21

Jesus! Where do you buy this stuff? Chemists?

Floggingmolly · 02/07/2016 14:22

Oh sorry, you've said Blush

skivvywoman · 02/07/2016 14:23

Wish I'd taken a pic of the inside of the shower it's now gleaming no streaks at all so I've now got it on the outside of the cubicle

skivvy, what's the deal with topping up the mixture bowl and putting it in the oven? Is it to provide moisture?

P1nkP0ppy · 02/07/2016 14:26

Bicarbonate plus vinegar followed with boiling water clears blocked / slow flowing plug holes.

zoobaby · 02/07/2016 14:27

I second (and third) using it on mould in the bathroom. Made a paste using BOS and bleach them applied to the silicone around the bath. Left it overnight and it worked lovely even if the bathroom smelt like a leisure centre

skivvywoman · 02/07/2016 14:42

Zoobaby I don't know I got it off FB but a lot of people just smear it on and leave but I did the putting on oven

If it works on chicken pox, would it work on itchy mosquito bites too?
