Meet jake, our lovely neighbourhood squirrel who has been in this tree since 6.30 am.
Wwyd?! I'm not sure ringing rspca or fire brigade is the answer.
We have 3 cats, but have kept them in, in hope he makes a bid for freedom!

It’s a squirrel in a tree. I am not sure what the issue is? When you say it hasn’t moved for 14 hours i would suspect the squirrel is dead (has it not moved at all?) or you are seeing things and there is no squirrel?

Stratter5 · 30/05/2016 21:00

Squirrel has moved.

Squirrel is fine.

Not entirely sure about the OP though. Can someone really be this thick worried about a squirrel stuck in a tree.

ForalltheSaints · 30/05/2016 21:01

I assume it's a grey squirrel. Therefore as long as it is not a painful death if it dies we should not be too distressed.

blueskyinmarch · 30/05/2016 21:01

Oh yeah, i see now, she said it had moved. Squirrel is chillin’ methinks.

SquinkiesRule · 30/05/2016 21:02

Poor squirrel LOL. He probably took a long nap and will come down later.

AYD2MITalkTalk · 30/05/2016 21:02

When do squirrels give birth? Maybe she's having a pregnant moment.

HoneyDragon · 30/05/2016 21:05

He's probably watching you and reporting back to his pals via Squirrel semaphore that the humsn box dweller hasn't left its box all day and keeps staring out the window possibly asking for help.

They call you sqickkernet, maybe do something to reassure him. Wash the car or do a spot of weeding?

Verticalvenetianblinds · 30/05/2016 21:08

Been out and watered the garden, purposely not made eye contact. (he's still there but I pretended I'm not interested)

HoneyDragon · 30/05/2016 21:11

Nice. That should reassure him.

NerrSnerr · 30/05/2016 21:15

That last update made me laugh. I can just see the OP watering her garden not making eye contact with the squirrel.

sparechange · 30/05/2016 21:15

Sorry, you want to ring the RSPCA because the is a squirrel in a tree?

And you also contemplated ringing the fire brigade? Presumably via 999?
You know if you do that, you'll be in the 'ridiculous reasons people phoned the emergency services and wasted everyone's time' news articles, along with the blokes who call the police when their wife cooks the wrong dinner?

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 30/05/2016 21:17

I can't see him

suspiciousofgoldfish · 30/05/2016 21:19

You're right to be concerned OP.

Thank you OP!! This has made my day! Just read it to my dopey 10 year old DD and she can't quite believe it!

HoppingForward · 30/05/2016 21:22

I would take a blanket out for him, it's quite cold out there tonight.

Confused

I saw a bear shit in the woods once not really. He was fine.

GirlWithAPearlNecklace · 30/05/2016 21:26

Is anyone else thinking of this picture?

Verticalvenetianblinds · 30/05/2016 21:28

I peeked through the curtains, Jake has moved down a bit so I'm hoping he's on his way home! I still think luring him with acorn based treats might be the way

OP posts:
RandomMess · 30/05/2016 21:31

Is it a grey or red squirrel?

If grey they are considered vermin and all anyone will do is kill it humanely...

WellErrr · 30/05/2016 21:35

Da fuck!?

It's a SQUIRREL. It's in a TREE. Go watch Sewing Bee or something.

Parietal · 30/05/2016 21:35

don't give the creature treats. if you do, he will move into your garden permanently, dig up your plants and generally cause trouble. just ignore it

AwfulBeryl · 30/05/2016 21:39

Jake ?
You named him Jake ? How do you know he is a boy ?
Op, are you positive he is even a squirrel ? He looks like a knobbly bit of wood tbh.

Paintedhandprints · 30/05/2016 21:40

I recommend you take it to a vet to get it put down humanely. Or if you are confident, forestry commission guidelines suggest placing in a sack and a swift blow to the head although you may be prosecuted if you mess it up....

AwfulBeryl · 30/05/2016 21:44

If DH is really concerned maybe he could dress up like this and coax Jake down.
