Meet jake, our lovely neighbourhood squirrel who has been in this tree since 6.30 am.
Wwyd?! I'm not sure ringing rspca or fire brigade is the answer.
We have 3 cats, but have kept them in, in hope he makes a bid for freedom!

I don't understand. Don't squirrels live in trees?

Poor fucker is probably just chilling, it's a bank holiday after all Grin

ThisFenceIsComfy · 30/05/2016 20:02

Umm. What?

stiffstink · 30/05/2016 20:06

Are you sure its a squirrel? I can't make it out in the photo so I'd be worried I'd been staring at some litter on a branch all day.

I have been known to mistake the shadow of the neighbour's oval bathroom mirror for the head of someone staring at me for hours. I even gave 'them' the middle finger a few times.

Verticalvenetianblinds · 30/05/2016 20:10

Definitely a squirrel, I watched him run along the fence this morning being pursued by a cat, he hasn't moved from his perch since! How long can they last without water tho?
Poor jake, he's probably hungry!

I'm hoping you are joking though I don't get it.

ThisFenceIsComfy · 30/05/2016 20:14

Are you sure he hasn't moved?

HerRoyalNotness · 30/05/2016 20:18

Nothing! He'll make his way down, or he won't. Circle of life and all that.

Stratter5 · 30/05/2016 20:27

I'm sure he'll be fine, maybe give the fire brigade a ring if he's still there in half an hour. :)

Verticalvenetianblinds · 30/05/2016 20:37

He's moved further up the tree. Should I try and lure him with peanut butter or something?! I know he'll come down eventually but its 14 hours now! Maybe he's observing human life?

OP posts:
Stratter5 · 30/05/2016 20:38

Sweetie, he's a squirrel. They live in trees. He will be fine.

DuvetDayEveryday · 30/05/2016 20:39

I don't understand the problem?

Verticalvenetianblinds · 30/05/2016 20:40

What's a reasonable amount of time for a squirrel to stay in one tree? Someone must know and its not on google! Grin

OP posts:
Stratter5 · 30/05/2016 20:41

Seriously, he's sitting in his tree thinking "why is that weird fucker staring at me all the time?".

Stratter5 · 30/05/2016 20:42

They have territories, that's HIS TREE.

He's fine. Stop worrying.

carabos · 30/05/2016 20:43

Ring the fire brigade, tell them there's a squirrel in your tree and see what happens Wink. Don't be surprised if you hear your call being played as part of the next public information campaign about misuse of the emergency services Wink. Let us know what they say, won't you? Grin

I wouldn't worry about keeping the cats in. In my experience, a squirrel is more than a match for a cat. Well, my cat was terrified of them...

Cel982 · 30/05/2016 20:46

God, leave the poor fella alone. He's probably up there in his tree debating whether to call 101 because this mad woman has been staring at him for the last 14 hours. Just to log it with the police, you know.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 30/05/2016 20:47

Can you shake the tree and see what happens?

ABCAlwaysBeCunting · 30/05/2016 20:48

Leave it alone! They live in trees!

Verticalvenetianblinds · 30/05/2016 20:51

Going to keep updating coz i know u all really want to know what's happening. Jake is still there, no movement. Cats worked out how to get out pretty quick so that didn't last long. Cant shake tree as its next doors but hangs over my fence.
Dh is convinced I should ring rspca!

Cel982 · 30/05/2016 20:53

OP, I say this with love: close your curtains.

BonitaFangita · 30/05/2016 20:53

Vertical, correct me if I'm wrong but don't squirrels live in trees?
Have you been spending all day looking at that squirrel?
I'm really confused, why do you need to ring the RSPCA?
DO NOT call the fire brigade or 101!!!

SecretNutellaFix · 30/05/2016 20:56

Squirrels live in trees

If you call anyone out you will be mocked mercilessly by your neighbours. It's the equivilent of calling a fire engine because you've noticed a fish swimming in a pond.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 30/05/2016 20:56

You know you can't go to bed tonight because you have to stay and watch what happens now.
Mind you I'm sure if you go talk to your neighbours about shaking their tree they will understand.
