AIBU to think that comprehension just isn't a strong point with some people.

I've noticed this quite a lot over the time I have on MN.

Referring to a recent thread re early retirement. The poster quite clearly stated that DH wanted to retire in 14 months (when mortgage paid) and wanted her to retire at the same time. She is 10 years his junior and works part time.

OK, first answer was "So he wants you both to retire in early forties"

Second response "Can you change to part time work"

I can understand this if we were 10 pages into the thread because we don't all have time to read all responses, but come on, the first two responses?

Just wanted to say " did you mean to be so rude?" Because this is the funniest killer one liner ever ever EVER.

I once started a thread asking for lunch suggestions without bread, as was trying to give bread/sandwiches etc up. One of the first suggestions was "how about beans on toast?" Grin

MehsMum · 29/09/2014 12:43

Retirement? Have you thought about attachment parenting?

LividofLondon · 29/09/2014 12:43

Are you on glue?! HmmGrin

PotatoPolly · 29/09/2014 12:45

LTB

FreeWee · 29/09/2014 12:48

Ha! I could have written this post! There's some posts where you have to read between the lines to work out exactly what's gone on but mostly it's people not reading the full OP never mind the full thread! I sometimes shout at my phone about this

Nancy66 · 29/09/2014 12:48

How much? I can get 12 meals out of one chicken. No wonder you're in debt

Layter · 29/09/2014 12:53

Reported.

Retro dresses are really flattering on everyone, try a swing dress and some red lippy and your DH won't know what hit him.

Didactylos · 29/09/2014 12:58

is´school off today?

1/10
try harder

WorkingBling · 29/09/2014 13:01

Haha. This is very funny.

On a more serious note - it's not just mn. Am in middle of crazy email exchange. Client a asked client b a question. Client b answers very clearly, with an example. Client a rewrites the original document, getting client b's point completely wrong.

I could almost hear the head banging happening in 4 countries as a result of this email trail! Grin

Sootgremlin · 29/09/2014 13:04

Just enjoy the break, OP.

Didactylos · 29/09/2014 13:07

ooooh i love a good parking thread!
get some penguin bollards OP

Fletchermoss · 29/09/2014 13:07

Seriously, I think I should send this thread to a Government department I work for. They can't understand a fucking plain English document written by another Government department. The country is run by imbeciles. This is a case of virtual life reflecting real life.

ninetynineonehundred · 29/09/2014 13:08

Op who made you the thread police?

Stealthpolarbear · 29/09/2014 13:08

JI love this thread, especially " You didn't tell me your date of birth or PIN, stop drip feeding!" :o

Yes I've noticed this op. That said I'm sure I'm guilty of it from time to time too.

guaranteedpersonality · 29/09/2014 13:13

Have you called a lawyer OP for your free 1/2 hour? That should sort out your emotionally and financially complex divorce proceedings.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 29/09/2014 13:14

This will not end well.

gordyslovesheep · 29/09/2014 13:17

Try posting in chat people are nice there AIBU is a horrible place

nailslikeknives · 29/09/2014 13:18

I think you'll find that all the problems are due to too much screen time ...

... slinks away from phone ...

Wailywailywaily · 29/09/2014 13:19

You made a spelling mistake in the thread title, can you get MN HQ to fix it?

ninetynineonehundred · 29/09/2014 13:22

I see the mumsnet royalty are out in force today Hmm

PausingFlatly · 29/09/2014 13:35

"OP you sound very resentful of people who can retire early. Maybe you should concentrate on your own life and stop blaming others because you can't retire early."

Absolutely. This whole thread is just the politics of envy.

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 29/09/2014 13:42

12 meals out of one chicken? That sounds awfully wasteful. I've been feeding a family of 20 on one chicken drumstick for the past three years.

phonebox · 29/09/2014 13:46

Saskia I've reported you for being discriminatory towards vegetarians. We can't all live off chicken, you know.
