AIBU to think that comprehension just isn't a strong point with some people.

I've noticed this quite a lot over the time I have on MN.

Referring to a recent thread re early retirement. The poster quite clearly stated that DH wanted to retire in 14 months (when mortgage paid) and wanted her to retire at the same time. She is 10 years his junior and works part time.

OK, first answer was "So he wants you both to retire in early forties"

Second response "Can you change to part time work"

I can understand this if we were 10 pages into the thread because we don't all have time to read all responses, but come on, the first two responses?

To be honest, I find this thread in bad taste. Not everyone has £3million to spend on a handbag.

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 29/09/2014 12:08

Have you tried clicker training? It was really effective for my gerbils.

gordyslovesheep · 29/09/2014 12:12

I work 34566 hours a day earning 3 beans and an old hair clip ... I'd love to sit on my arse while tax payers fund my goat habit

SauvignonBlanche · 29/09/2014 12:14

Well my children have never been anywhere near a McDonalds.

Nancy66 · 29/09/2014 12:15

It wouldn't happen in Waitrose

BaffledSomeMore · 29/09/2014 12:15

You should try cosleeping.

SaucyJack · 29/09/2014 12:17

She can't do that MrsDevere. I know she hasn't said her child is a coeliac, but some people do so I'm going to get offended on their behalf anyway.

MizK · 29/09/2014 12:21

You sound like a real charmer Hmm

gordyslovesheep · 29/09/2014 12:21

Put down the guardian and get into the real world ... Lefties are stupid

McGlashan · 29/09/2014 12:21

I find your post breathtakingly arrogant.

Primaryteach87 · 29/09/2014 12:24

You made a spelling error so now I can't get past that, it probably explains why your bf cheated on you.

Doesn't pair socks - leave him! This is emotional abuse.

Complain to Ofsted especially if it involves a falling out of two 5year olds. Doubly justified.

You didn't tell me your date of birth or PIN, stop drip feeding!

Have you tried evening primrose?

Have you considered he could be a paedofile (that post man who is a tad slow)

I have no sympathy for you. Pull yourself together. Think of your DC.... You can't expect them to deal with a lack of private schooling.

Also

Variations on:
You make me sick affording to send your children private.
You make me sick getting a bursary to send your children private.
You make me sick sending your child to a grammar school.
You make me sick sending your child to the local school.

BreconBeBuggered · 29/09/2014 12:24

How about you look up your own recipes instead of bothering us?

Whoopsadazy · 29/09/2014 12:25

OP you sound very resentful of people who can retire early. Maybe you should concentrate on your own life and stop blaming others because you can't retire early.

McGlashan · 29/09/2014 12:27

Well is he fat OP?

Whoopsadazy · 29/09/2014 12:27

Of course this is all irrelevant as thanks to the last Labour government/current coalition no-one will be able to retire early.

The EU/lax immigration/lack of grammar schools/abundance of grammar schools may also be to blame.

I'm going ignore what you're all saying and start picking at your grammar in a patronising way, love.

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 29/09/2014 12:32

Interesting first post OPConfused

crazykat · 29/09/2014 12:34

"He shouted at me during and argument" LTB.

"My teenaged dsc is being a nightmare" - you knew what you were getting into.

"My teenaged dd is being a nightmare" - take away xyz until her behaviour improves.

"Public transport here is rubbish" - learn to drive and get a car.

"18 yo ds expects lifts everywhere" - pay for driving lessons and get a car for him.

As if everyone can afford to just buy a car and pay for lessons at the drop of a hat. Don't get me started on the whole don't have kids if you can't support them through uni and until they're earning 30k.

WellTidy · 29/09/2014 12:34

Why not batch cook for the freezer every Sunday?

MorrisZapp · 29/09/2014 12:38

My SIL does that too. We've been NC since she said my flapjacks were 'quite nice'.

ArabellaTarantella · 29/09/2014 12:38

Well MY DC are 324 days and the other is 62 months, so are a little older than yours.

Fletchermoss · 29/09/2014 12:40

You need no contact with them now. Your parents are toxic.
