AIBU to think that comprehension just isn't a strong point with some people.

I've noticed this quite a lot over the time I have on MN.

Referring to a recent thread re early retirement. The poster quite clearly stated that DH wanted to retire in 14 months (when mortgage paid) and wanted her to retire at the same time. She is 10 years his junior and works part time.

OK, first answer was "So he wants you both to retire in early forties"

Second response "Can you change to part time work"

I can understand this if we were 10 pages into the thread because we don't all have time to read all responses, but come on, the first two responses?

Dinner tonight?

A rustic home made soup served with crusty, home made bread. Followed by a made-from-scratch fish pie with pan roasted vegetables grown in our garden.

Pudding will be a rhubarb and ginger posset served with a raspberry coulis and hand baked vanilla Madelines.

it's the kid's (14 months and 3) favourite.

I never leave the washing machine on when the house is empty. Small risk, but is it worth it...?

You know, when I opened this thread I was fully prepared to agree with the OP and say "YANBU", especially as I've just seen a prime example of this on another thread and decided (unusually for me) to not bother C&P'ing the bit of the op where this comment is completely refuted - but I'm not sure I can do that now!

Except that I just have.

I'll get me coat...

HazleNutt · 29/09/2014 15:22

If you want to retire early, retire early, I don't see a problem here.

JustAShopGirl · 29/09/2014 15:23

stupid phone/ipad

(how come it always spells that correctly)

Downamongtherednecks · 29/09/2014 15:24

I met someone on a bus 10 years ago who had reading comprehension problems, so you have upset me OP.
Hiding the thread now.

happygirl87 · 29/09/2014 15:33

You could of approached it differently

You need a cleaner
A cleaner is a waste of money

You sound entitled, you are so lucky to have a mortgage and not rent
You sound entitled, you are so lucky to have a landlord who will take care of things and not have a mortgage

The real problem is not your MIL who tried to kill you and your children, it's that your DH is obviously not on your side! LTB

Has no one considered SN?
How dare you suggest SN, you cant just stereotype like that

Get a mooncup

trulybadlydeeply · 29/09/2014 15:38

If you're going to get a dog then get a rescue dog. Don't encourage unnecessary breeding.

Or get a hedgehog.

GahLinDah · 29/09/2014 15:39

I think Lundy Bancroft has written a book that would help you...or is it Shirley Glass??
