There is a tiny elderly Korean lady in my garden and I want to go out.

Sold our summerhouse on gum tree. Dude came to look at it this morning about 9am, paid and was back by 11 to dismantle it. DH all togged up to assist but the guy politely and firmly refused as he wanted to take it apart himself so he could put it back together himself.

He pulled his van into our side return and installed a tiny elderly Korean lady (he is also Korean) on a deck chair on our patio.

He then spent an hour writing on every plank and taking 1500 photographs.

He then spent two hours peeling off the roof felt painstakingly. Korean lady has been to toilet twice. As far as I can see she is here for the day out.

However she has just been to the car and produced steaming hot noodles, broth and vegetables and they have had a lovely leisurely lunch on the patio.

He has just now resumed work and has actually started to remove the planks. Slowly. Methodically. I know because he has told me that there are 85 planks. Plus window. To removed and carry to car. DHs help has again been refused although he has taken matters into his own hands a bit and is carrying planks to car.

Elderly lady back on deck chair.

Help!! We want to go out and thought that this would take 2-3 hours max. It's been 4 and only the roof felt is off. We could lock the back door and leave them in the garden but what about elderly lady's toilet needs???? And water etc? They have a little tea break (from a flask) every now and then and have refused drinks but they must need water at some point.

BEST THREAD EVER

socubatevira · 06/08/2017 20:56

@Boysclothes, I can't believe your original post was in 2014 and EKL is still 'alive and well' on many a thread since!! One of the best things I've ever read!! I unashamedly re-read when I need that "aaah" feeling!

RiverTam · 06/08/2017 20:58

I absolutely love this thread, it's my go-to when I want a really feel-good thread. I once read out all the OP's posts to my mum and aunty and had them in stitches.

socubatevira · 06/08/2017 21:34

I know @RiverTam! I died at the pink visor. I just love it.

Sittinginthesun · 06/08/2017 21:35

I was just reading this lovely thread for the first time (slow day at work) and then I realised it is 3 years to the day since it was posted.
Happy EKL-versary, everyone!

TennisAtXmas · 17/08/2017 09:37

Just here to revive this thread to bring some calm during the apocalypse.

YouBringLightInToADarkPlace · 12/05/2020 23:28

Wonderful thread... now I see why I have heard so much about it.
Zen.

How sweet.

Strawberrycreamsundae · 04/11/2020 07:50

A wonderfully tranquil thread in this tumultuous time.

boireannach · 19/06/2021 18:08

Wonderful 🥰

Peachee · 19/06/2021 19:03

Aww this is so cute! Especially that your DS was sat comfortably on her lap watching. All too often in this country we ship our older family members into a home.
I would stay in and watch it unfold! What a funny story this will be in time to come.

Gilly12345 · 19/06/2021 19:04

I too am sorry but this is hilarious, I wish I lived by you to watch this charade.

joolzfromyork · 19/06/2021 19:35

@Gilly12345

I wish I lived by you to watch this charade.

Well you are gonna need a De Lorean ...

(but yeah, for some reason this thread popped up in my trending box this AM, No idea why, but brilliant to read ... )

deste · 19/06/2021 19:47

What I am amazed at is that you let your son, on his first day of potty training, sit on an elderly woman’s lap with no nappy on.
Actually I’m impressed at your calmness and forgetting to mention it till the end, unless this is the reason you kept going in and running out again.

flippertygibbit · 19/06/2021 20:13

Can I just say you've actually made my day with this, what a lovely funny good endorphin making story :), Thank you.

Couchbettato · 20/06/2021 18:38

I love when a good old post is resurrected.

BountyIsUnderrated · 20/06/2021 18:58

Is this the same poster as yesterday who said a couple was having a picnic in their private garden? Grin
