There is a tiny elderly Korean lady in my garden and I want to go out.

Sold our summerhouse on gum tree. Dude came to look at it this morning about 9am, paid and was back by 11 to dismantle it. DH all togged up to assist but the guy politely and firmly refused as he wanted to take it apart himself so he could put it back together himself.

He pulled his van into our side return and installed a tiny elderly Korean lady (he is also Korean) on a deck chair on our patio.

He then spent an hour writing on every plank and taking 1500 photographs.

He then spent two hours peeling off the roof felt painstakingly. Korean lady has been to toilet twice. As far as I can see she is here for the day out.

However she has just been to the car and produced steaming hot noodles, broth and vegetables and they have had a lovely leisurely lunch on the patio.

He has just now resumed work and has actually started to remove the planks. Slowly. Methodically. I know because he has told me that there are 85 planks. Plus window. To removed and carry to car. DHs help has again been refused although he has taken matters into his own hands a bit and is carrying planks to car.

Elderly lady back on deck chair.

Help!! We want to go out and thought that this would take 2-3 hours max. It's been 4 and only the roof felt is off. We could lock the back door and leave them in the garden but what about elderly lady's toilet needs???? And water etc? They have a little tea break (from a flask) every now and then and have refused drinks but they must need water at some point.

mumminio · 13/08/2014 20:40

Lovely thread! OP can you write a board book? This is something I would love to read to my little ones every day and then keep reading to myself once they grow out of it.

kelper · 30/08/2014 15:56

OP you narrated a beautiful afternoon :)

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 30/08/2014 21:12

Was EKL on the X Factor? The contestant who was just on, with her mum who brought Chinese food and cake for the panel?

KenDoddsDadsDog · 30/08/2014 21:28

Ha it could have been ! Grin

SignYourNameInBrownAndFlame · 06/09/2014 08:01

I missed this live, I've just read the whole thread smiling and now have the warm fuzzies (apart from Basset 's story which made me fill up :( )

I second (third, fourth, tenth, whatever) the comments about your writing style, OP. very entertaining.

I wonder what EKL is doing right now...

I missed this when it was live due to going on holiday and having no internet on the crucial day.

Is lovely. I wonder how EKL is

SaggyAndLucy · 17/09/2014 00:40

What a lovely thread. Smile How sad that I missed it! Sad

ShelaghTurner · 17/09/2014 00:57

I KNEW this would be New Malden. Parents and childhood home are nearby and, sorry to spoil your fun but EKLs are ten a penny... Wink :o

alltoomuchrightnow · 17/09/2014 18:03

Wonderful!

As a Korean woman, who is on her way to becoming an EKL myself, and who was brought up many of them, I feel I must burst your bubbles a bit. I read the ENTIRE thread and have loved it, and in particular the whole MN community's love for EKL.

However.

The reason EKL was so calm and zen is due to the language barrier. The spider squishing incident gave a little insight into their true nature. EKLs, when able to communicate in their native language are more like the picture I have attached.

At the age of 37, one look from my one of my aunties, can make me pee my pants.

fknuts · 21/05/2016 01:32

Fantastic threat :) thank you op. Really brightened my day.

Jg1 · 28/07/2017 23:31

Love it! Although slightly alarmed by konglishbeauty's insight into EKLs! Shock
