1. Have smeared the twins' cradle cap liberally with rapeseed oil, left, combed through, left Dentinox on in the bath for ten mins, rinsed through, and it all came off in big satisfying clumps. I got a bizarre amount of pleasure from this.

1. I bit the bullet and got Plumbs round to reupholster my awkwardly shaped sofa and it's gorgeous! And the covers are just about less tricky to take on and off than a sleeping bag is to put back in its bag IYKWIM and they're machine washable. I, embarrassingly, may have punched the air. I need to get out more.

1. Storing complete bedding sets inside one of the pillow cases has led to uncrumpled sheets and duvets that MATCH.

Do not waste time peeling and chopping swede to mash, score around it and microwave like a jacket potato, then cut in half and scoop out!

I do this to mix with fish to make fish cakes.

The bedding pillowcase one is a great idea! There's a pic doing the rounds on FB of a fitted sheet folded really badly (how I do it) and one of a fitted sheet folded perfectly (how other people manage it). How?? Fitted sheets are PITA to fold.

Stinking would it be very rude to ask approx. how much your Plumbs reupholstery cost? I have 2 sofas which look incredibly tired, and yet there's nothing wrong with the actual frame, so it would seem incredibly wasteful to get rid of them.

I love the sound of the swede tip! I love swede but cutting and peeling it is always so much hassle it puts me off. Definitely going to try it when swede season comes around again.

The only tip I can think of is porridge in the microwave. Any old porridge can be microwave cooked. It doesn't need to be the sort that's sold for microwaves. And it's so much quicker and there's no pan to clean and it never burns.

About 15 minutes for swede, it is denser than spud, so takes a litte longer. If still not done, do it for 2 more minutes at a time.

using a dishwasher tablet for the grimy brown stuff on glass over door.

soak it in boiling water so it starts to crumble. rub it on the glass of the oven door. you may need to re-soak when you have used the crumbly edge. wipe off.

The watered-down fabric conditioner on upholstery and radiators is the one I use all the time. The smell in winter when the radiators are on is gorgeous. Plus it's good if you're having a last minute panic before guests come around the house needs airing or you've cooked something strong, because it smells like laundry and makes you look like you've actually done something

Thurlow how do you actually put fabric conditioner on a radiator? Do you pour it on ?

If you can sew and have a sofa with removable covers that you don't like, or which have gone faded/stained, remove them, rip them at the seams, and you then have a pattern for new covers.

I did this with 2 IKEA sofas and made new covers out of cotton throws, they now match my sitting room perfectly! Plus the colour (mushroom) doesn't show half as much dirt as the original (cream).

Cheapo Nair hair removal cream from the 2 shop down the bath drain. Dissolves the (frankly disgusting) hair that collects there.

Mix it up in a spray bottle, half and half, then you just spray it onto the radiator - well, I sort of dribble it a little bit on the top. Just don't spray the walls!

I was extremely excited when I tried the denture tablets down the toilet overnight. And discovering the tabs to hold the roll in the foil and cling film boxes was a revelation. I'm not even ashamed of how sad this makes me!

An empty 2l drinks bottle with the bottom cut off and the lid screwed on makes an ideal plunger and will unblock a toilet in seconds.

Pud1, would that work on the tiles behind the cooker do you think?
