  1. Have smeared the twins' cradle cap liberally with rapeseed oil, left, combed through, left Dentinox on in the bath for ten mins, rinsed through, and it all came off in big satisfying clumps. I got a bizarre amount of pleasure from this.

  1. I bit the bullet and got Plumbs round to reupholster my awkwardly shaped sofa and it's gorgeous! And the covers are just about less tricky to take on and off than a sleeping bag is to put back in its bag IYKWIM and they're machine washable. I, embarrassingly, may have punched the air. I need to get out more.

  1. Storing complete bedding sets inside one of the pillow cases has led to uncrumpled sheets and duvets that MATCH.

  1. Tomatoes out of the fridge are sweet and juicy.

I is DELIGHTED with the MN service. Please continue revolutionising my life Smile.

The JML magic sponge thingy is also brilliant at cleaning oven doors and doesn't need loads of rinsing Smile

Wish I could bookmark this thread! I can't even copy some of the tips because I'm using the app, what a pain.

Those of you who are saying you can just pull the hose across to fill up your car - watch for signs as you pull in. Some garages won't allow this, and won't dispense the fuel if you do it. Annoyingly it seems to be a local thing, of the 4 garages nearest me 3 won't allow hoses pulled across and the fourth is self service!?!!

Loving the fitted sheet thing though. Bloody AMAZING ,

Op, any chance of reporting your post so it can get moved and we don't lose all of the magic? Grin

Very impressed with deck cleaning idea. I 'm planning to clean and oil the deck before winter, though it's very dry here in Melbourne, so if I hose it first, would that be OK?

Olive oil gets sticker marks off.

That is the sum total of my domestic knowledge.

I have never bought dishwasher cleaner. I have always used white vinegar. I cleaned DP's with Waitrose White Wine Vinegar a few weeks ago the serfs were busy

It can also be used in small diluted quantities to wash your dog, brings mine up really shiny and soft.

free/disposable/hotel shower caps - these make great easy to use/remove/re-use covers for trifles and plates of party food - keep the flies off and much easier to re-cover than if using cling film or foil as they have elasticated edges. take up less space than those collapsible net cover things.

So glad I'm not the only person who uses hair straighteners to iron clothes! I use them for hems that have crumpled up. Also use them on my daughter's (age 5mo) little dresses if they're creased - no point putting the iron on for those!

My tip is if you have run out of shaving gel, use hair conditioner. I think it works even better than foam/gel.

Dishwasher tablets again. If you have a seriously burned pan/baking tray etc etc, pop a dishwasher tab in and pour over boiling water from the kettle. Leave for a hour or so and just wipe off. For really stubborn stains, simmer the pan on the hob for a hour or so with the tablet and water in.

I'm loving the veet down the drains one. My hair is long and thick and falls out constantly so it's always blocking the shower. Pulling the hair out is the most disgusting job ever. Definitely going to try this.

I also agree with moving this thread somewhere it won't get lost. Good Housekeeping possibly?

Dear MN. Please keep this thread.

OP, would you mind if it was moved to housekeeping in order not to lose it after a month?

I use an old bottle of squiffy perfume (thanks sis!) for removing sticky marks from price labels and other adhesive stuff - particularly discount labels from books, which never seem to come off cleanly.

If you are given cut flowers, but no flower food, then a spoon of sugar stirred into the vase (plus cutting the bottom 1cm of the stems) will keep them fresher for longer.

To stop your cut tulips drooping- put a 2p coin in the bottom of your vase before adding the water.

Always cut pizza with kitchen scissors instead of messing about with pizza cutters.

Cleaning LED television screen; particularly effective in removing sticky finger marks if you have similarly inclined pesky toddlers:

Dilute fabric conditioner with water (you don't need much of either) and apply with a microfibre cloth and then dry with another clean microfibre cloth.
