Ah yes spliffy tops and jackets.

Dd1 and 2 are in heaven with their free point horrors. I recently re-read 'beach house' so bad it's good lol.

BoodleDoo · 06/02/2014 14:42

Inflatable chairs! Yes! I had a big pink one that took ages to inflate. I also had an inflatable cushion filled with feathers. I remember getting them for Christmas along with a sea monkeys kit. (Which I lovingly nurtured for weeks and then spilt on my bedroom floor...)

ProfondoRosso · 06/02/2014 14:47

Aw, there was nothing like an inflatable chair from Internationale! Mine was orange. And slowly deflated after a while. I remember my DSis sitting on and throwing her Millennium Baby around, with little regard for its safety if there was any chance it would actually come to life come the millennium.

Underworld 'Born Slippy' and Trainspotting. Christopher Pike books.

Feeling very nostalgic.

I've still got a bottle of Tribe, which I give a sniff when I feel nostalgic! It's not particularly pleasant! Does anyone remember when Tribe was launched? It came with a free pair of pink and blue hypercolour sunglasses; I think that was what sold it to me.

I can't think of anything to add but just wanted to say I'm loving this thread, remember so much of it! I can almost smell the Impulse O2 now..... Grin

Notafoodbabyanymore · 06/02/2014 21:30

I love this thread too! It's made me all nostalgic for my high school years. If there are any fellow Aussies about, you'll know what I'm talking about when I say Silverchair, Savage Garden and Full Frontal.

Also, that mixed smell of Impulse and cigarette smoke in the school loos. (Bleurgh!)

And what about 'sunglasses' with coloured lenses.and babydoll dresses with big, clunky shoes and chokers. And having 60s themed fancy dress parties and thinking that was really cool.

Definitely yes to taping songs off the radio. I feel like this generation have missed out on that wonderful excitement of hearing a song you haven't heard for ages and managing to press record in time, or tracking down a random album at the second hand record shop. Everything is at your fingertips now, which is great, but kind of makes life a little bit more boring in a way.

LimitedEditionLady · 06/02/2014 22:05

This thread is making me feel all warm inside,i forgot about most of this stuff and its brought back memories of friends from my youth.Ahhh wish I could go back.

Tallalime · 06/02/2014 22:12

Those thin plastic woven necklaces/bracelets that were kind of supposed to look like tattoos from a distance.

I had a few of those.

And velvet chokers.

And big ole sheepskin coats.

TypicaLibra · 06/02/2014 22:29

Sonic the Hedgehog
Super Mario World
New Labour
Cassettes & CDs
Black and White Telly license at university (wouldn't be able to fool 'em now with that)
More magazine (is that still around?)
Floppy discs

Wigeon · 06/02/2014 22:34

Has no one said DM boots?! There was a shop near my school where we all went to get them (C M Williams it was called), they sold seconds, do I had this matt black pair with a dent in the front...

misdee · 06/02/2014 22:34

I loved Savage Garden.

muminthecity · 06/02/2014 22:47

I love this thread! It's making me feel all nostalgic. A few of my own to add:

Versace blue jeans perfume
Morgan bags
Nickelodeon programmes such as Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Moesha and Sister Sister
Reebok Classics

Did anyone watch the new series of the Big Reunion in ITV2 tonight? Lots of 90s nostalgia there: 3T, Adam Rickett, Eternal, Damage. I loved them all!

muminthecity · 06/02/2014 22:49

Oh and of course, the biggest event of the year, the one we looked forward to for months, and the only day of the year that we were allowed to eat our tea on our laps in front of the TV...

The Smash Hits Poll Winners' Party!

Grin
ProfondoRosso · 07/02/2014 07:53

Grin I remember writing about the Smash Hits Poll Winners Party in my news jotter at school, muminthecity!

1gglePiggle · 07/02/2014 21:03

Cookie B - I miss vanilla impulse too! There was vanilla dreams, secrets and kisses. Kisses was the pink one. They still sell it in Germany so I bought some from eBay. Takes me straight back to 1995.
I've still got all my babysitters club and point horror books!

MrsDeanAmbrose · 07/02/2014 21:36

They used to sell Spliffy Jeans and Joe Bloggs stuff in the Arndale Market in Manchester when I first moved there.

I had all the Point Horror books, and loved Christopher Pike as well.

Remember watching This Life, massive crush on Andrew Lincoln in that.

Night clubs had truly puntastic names in the 90s as well - Dicky Bo's was our haunt.

DownstairsMixUp · 07/02/2014 21:51

What about all the sweets from the 90s?? Starburst were Opal Fruits. Everyone bought them white candy sticks and pretended they were cigarettes to. Lucky Charms weren't ££££ a box and were just sold as a normal cereal here to.

Going off topic I served a young looking girl today at work who wanted a lottery ticket, I asked for ID, she was born in 1997 :O I kept second guessing myself that she wasn't old enough but she was! I felt really old today.

VashtaNerada · 07/02/2014 22:23

LOVE this thread! Also...
Zig & Zag
Those plastic flowers in a pot that danced to music
Henna patterns on your hands
Yin & Yang jewellery
Smileys being a drugs thing
Press Gang
Those things like a baby's vest that girls used to wear (we called them 'bodies') with a checked shirt over the top
Garbage
Space ("at 666 there lived a Mr Miller, he's the local vicar and a serial killer")

BikeRunSki · 07/02/2014 22:28

Early 90s - Global Hypercolour T shirts
