Oh Claire they are, they are! DS has a 5' toy giraffe in his room - Ginger was found sitting on the giraffes head, bold as brass. Cheeky beggar! Meow has a thing for climbing up the back of the wooden units in the lounge, then sitting on the top!

Also yesterday they both refused a bottle so I think they're weaning themselves onto just meat now... :( but :) I guess! Mixed emotions!

Ah they are getting so grown up - love hearing what they have been up to! The picture of Ruby, Meow and Ginger is just lovely :)

ClaireDeLoon · 09/06/2011 22:08

It's lovely they have that independent streak coming through though I know sad at same time. I think they will grow into such adorable lap cats because they're so used to being handled and cuddled.

Marlinspike · 10/06/2011 11:36

Hi Pinot - your babies are gorgeous! Do you reckon they will keep those fantastic blue eyes or might they change colour?

I lost my lovely old 22 year old cat this week, and seeing your little bundles of fluff brings back lots of memories of when she was that little, and always exploring and climbing into tiny holes (had to nearly dismantle our kitche once to retrieve her!)

You are doing a fantastic job; keep posting the pics!

Pinot · 10/06/2011 11:42

Aww Marlin that's so :( I hope she went peacefully. 22 years - wow! She was special {{unmumsnetty hug}}

Claire I hope so - Ginger is adorable in that when he wants a cuddle he mews and walks over all sleepy to me. Tis lovely :) Meow spends alot of time sleeping under cushions etc as she likes to be covered up.

CestTout thanks, they are great friends - Ruby is only 11months now but lets them crawl all over her. Poppy (our cavalier) is 6 and is a little less accepting. She's like the Queen Mother Grin

I'll take more pics this weekend :)

Pinot · 10/06/2011 13:13

Pinot · 10/06/2011 13:40

Warning - they are looking very grown up!!

ExitPursuedByAKitten · 10/06/2011 13:52

Don't they just! I have not let DD see any of these pics yet as I know she will want a kitten (or two) and I can be easily persuaded.

They are looking at you so adoringly. Can't believe what a fabulous job you have done.

We used to look after my Mum's school cat who had a moustache like Meow Catherine's. We called him Adolf of course.

Oh my lord.... they're little cats!

Pinot, I know I've said it before but I'm going to again for good measure.... you've done so well, the care and love you've given those kittens is awe inspiring. You must be so proud of yourself.

On a personal note another one of mine is AWOL.... the little brother of the cat that disappeared 2 months ago Sad I'm hoping he's just being a typical male and rampaging around the fields but it's been 2 days an i'm panicing now Sad

Pinot · 10/06/2011 14:44

Oh Summer noooooooo!! Has he hit teenage years and has gone out to fertilise half the feline population of Ireland? :( :( Keep me posted.

(And thanks x)

He's almsot three but his older brother was the dominant male and he's been asserting himself a lot the last few weeks since he's realised he's the new boss so I'm praying he's just being a typical boy [crossed fingers emoticon]

The littlest male frequently disappears for a few days but I think he's flirting with other families, he's the biggest tart of a cat you've ever met. Last time he went missing the kids from up the road had been here playing with him and he vanished for 4 days... I'm convinced he was at their house but I don't know the parents well enough to knock on the door and say 'Oi, your kids stole my cat!' so I settled for wandering around in front of their house whistling and calling him quite conspiuously and he turned up an hour later Hmm

SummerRain · 10/06/2011 15:03

and now for the spell checked version Blush

wipes eyes they are so grown up!

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 11/06/2011 01:26

Anyone else just enjoy scrolling through all the kitten photos, from helpless infants to small cats?

Pinot · 11/06/2011 09:51

Me! It's such a wonderful record of them, I'm so proud of them. Even when they wake me at 4am playing chase across the bedroom floor Hmm and are now fast asleep, curled up in the dogs bed whilst the dog is lying next to them.

S.W.E.E.T!

superjobeespecs · 11/06/2011 15:59

have just spent the best part of 2 hours reading this and am so glad i did :) i think your wonderful pinot i am totally not a cat person (we have an evil cat instead of guinea pigs at DD and DHs begging request and she hates me) but this made me smile and also glad i joined mumsnet. there is a fair amount of arguing on here iv noticed so its nice to find one place where its all soft and fluffy
< Grin total kitty refference there >

superjobeespecs · 11/06/2011 16:03

SummerRain · 12/06/2011 12:21

SGM.... hooray for daft but lovable cats.

Our roadside rescue daft fool of a cat woke myself and dd up this morning by sitting on the stairs and howling like a little lost kitten because he wanted attention (obviously all the human males managed to sleep through it Hmm)

Still no sign of Petie though, I drove around the area searching yesterday and have been whistling for him so much i've sent next doors husky into a howling frenzy Blush I'm really worried now.

SoDiana · 12/06/2011 15:59

I just wanted to thank you for this thread. I've read half yesterday and finished today (I do that with books I don't want to finish, leave the last few pages unread, as I don't want it to end, daft I know).
I have been having a tough couple of weeks and have a history of depression and have been feeling symptoms creep up on me recently. Your thread has honestly lifted my spirits.

The kittens are desperately cute (the little one with the moustache looks like Kitler as someone mentioned), but it's just something about the tone of your posts, the 'mammyness' that comes across and the gentleness and eagerness of the replies which has lifted my spirits and soothed me greatly.
That you nurtured newborn kittens this far by bottle feeding/hand feeding is exceptional. I hope they make you feel proud every day!
