Shabs, my DD1 ended up with a very nasty and massive chest infection due to being misdiagnosed three times by 3 GPs. Hospital for two weeks. IV drip. Emergency blue lights. The works. Keep close eyes on him and always go with your instincts. xxxx

frumpygrumpy · 15/12/2008 14:51

Oxygen and steroids too. Great GPs at our surgery

Neeerly3 · 15/12/2008 16:40

Neeerly3 · 15/12/2008 16:43

i heard rumours that Pinkfrog is a bit nifty with a pair of knitting needles???

with the impending delivery of Neeerly mk3 i have been after something very lovely but different to bring him or her home in from hosp.....I wonder if her pinkness would be able to help/suggest anything?

piximon · 15/12/2008 19:41

Evening all. I had a lovely surprise this morning. Went in to get dts and discovered dt1 had thrown up over her entire cot. Lovely way to start the day. Really hoping she's on the mend tomorrow, can't take much more of all this sickness.

I'm so so so tired. Just can't seem to keep on track with the coursework/housework/looking after dcs/school run etc. Am literally counting the minutes till school breaks up on Friday. It's costing me an average of £40wk on bus fares. Council will not help with school bus or fares etc. This afternoon the bus turned up and wasn't buggy friendly. Luckily the driver waited while I folded buggy got dcs on etc but getting off and getting them back into buggy safely on side of busy road while ds3 in baby carrier was nightmare.

And it's freezing, we're almost out of oil and having waited a week for delivery been told it will arrive before the 22nd.

On the positive side I have found a friend, well dh found her for me. She has 4 dcs and has taken to visiting me for impromptu coffees a few times a wk. I'm finding it strange, I've got used to being alone with dcs in the day and never had someone just land up before, thankfully I've always been dressed, but she caught me giving dts lunch at 11.30 this morning.

piximon · 15/12/2008 19:59

are we still on for weds? I have another bag of clothes for your dd. I'm hoping mine will be all clear by then

T&T Hiya hon, I've been wondering how you've been getting on.

Shabs poor Tomster, hope he's fully recovered before hols start. What are your plans for xmas?

Trips, you're often in my thoughts, I just don't post on here as much as I'd like. I know yours give trouble to go to sleep, do they get up early or do you have to prise them out of bed?

Mars Where are you and have you seen Chops? I'm sure I imagined Tigs popped in.

tkband3 · 15/12/2008 20:06

Evening all!

Anyone fancy giving me some style advice here?

tripletsandtwins · 15/12/2008 22:22

Now this is a thing unheard of! 2 posts in 2 days!

I'm procrastinating and bored (WOW!!) ladies , so I'm going to do some catching up and post again (AGAIN!!) as soon as I've read enough to appear well informed .

tripletsandtwins · 15/12/2008 22:30

.... of course if any kind and charitable spirit feels like given me a quick update, I can't say I'd complain...

tripletsandtwins · 16/12/2008 01:12

FG, so sorry to hear you're how much poop is being rained down on you atm, everyone makes mistakes liek your texting incident, so don't feel stupid about it... it's a real bummer that it was that particular text though. I'm glad you enjoyed the nativity . Your dh sounds like he was completely unreasonable about the house, keep your head held high, you're doing a great job, be proud of yourself. 1 thing at a time... as I say 'how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time!'... or you could get a lot of help to eat it

Snorris! CONGRATULATIONS! 10lbs! WOW!! Welcome Lucy Grace... beautiful name. Girls are so lovely . Little envious of you cause I want another baby! Mine are all so grown up now...

HM, Glad you had a great night. Sorry you had an arguement with your dh... it's a hard life we mom's of multiples live and when your dh don't chip in, things get pretty lousy hope your dcs get better soon.

Mars! Hiya!

Triplets, WELL DONE REBECCA! I can imagine how proud you were . Good for you for changing the date of your sil's arrival! Saying 'no' is sometimes the hardest thing to do. Know what you mean about Christmas... I say every year I'm not sending cards... and every year I send them to everyone in my address book . The worst thing is that it takes the special-ness out of Christmas, because you panic so much about getting something for so-and-so when you have absolutely no idea what to get, and end up getting them whatever you see first... maybe that's just me though . We've had a $10 limit this year to spend on family ('cept kids of course) which has been much better coz I've actually had to think about what I'm getting and spent time with the kids making presents to give to people, which is much better ... I'm twittering...sorry. Love your Xmas name

Shabster, Happy birthday belatedly! Sorry to hear your ds isn't very well . Sending 'get well wishes' his way.

TeaSleep, belated happy birthday to your babes! We haven't met, I don't think, so... HI! We have twins about the same age... mine were born on the 21st Recipe of the week?

Oooggs, glad you're ok, wishing things were eeasier for you

Merly, a belated happy birthday to you too!Really crap about maternity leave, agree with everyone else on here, and think you should negotiate longer.

Pixi, OUCH! it's little things like black nails, stubbed toes and paper cuts that hurt the most isn't it? Sorry to hear about all thhe illness in your house atm .

Estar, I'm a Michael Buble fan too! Love him . I know what you mean about broodiness, I want another 1, (1!) but I daren't! It's not going to happen but... We still haven't taken any permanent action to ensure it doesn't

Timesofhope... you're mil sounds like fun sorry you got such a short straw! Triplets are hard work, so I really feel for you. I was really lucky because my MIL is a real gem... but my mum is a PITA! Thankfully... I'm in Florida and she's in England. I don't think your being unreasonable at all... You don't deserve to be nagged at by someone who doesn't understand, and whatever her problems are, she shouldn't take it out/ blame it on you... and you're the mother of your babies, so you know best, and don't let anyone let you think otherwise. Congrats on the triplets btw, had a peek at your profile... they're gorgeous! I wish mine were that small again...

Largeglassofred, congratulations , hospital births all the way for me too so no help here... but it's bound to be possible...

Momma, happy 30th!

TKB I like the satin dress best. An early Happy Birthday to you in case I don't get on again in time. Hope you have a fab evening

Everyone else! HI!

There now, aren't you proud of me! It only took.... 3 hours! Now I have next to no excuse not to post in future! My New Year's resolution is to Mumsnet more, so maybe I'll practice early

Love and hugs to y'all

xx

estarofwonder · 16/12/2008 10:35

tripletsandtwins!

Right, you've just earned yourself the weekly round-up slot - no?

Shabbs I'm glad you are at peace about Gareth. If I'm totally honest (and I never say this in real life), I was in shock after having my dts because I thought I was having one boy, one girl. So along with the usual hormonal rollercoaster and the terror of wondering what to do with TWO babies at once, I felt somewhere in there that I'd 'lost' a girl I thought I was having! So when one baby was easy and one was hardwork, I felt like I bonded with one and not the other. Then when the 'hardwork' twin turned out to be ill, I felt so awful and wondered what would happen if I lost him and all I'd done was be miserable because he wasn't a girl. My maternal guilt carried on being a huuuge factor for the first year, and I know how I would have felt if I'd have lost him - like I willed it to happen because of my stupid attitude. Now, thankfully, everything is okay and I rarely think about the whole thing.

I like what Frumpy said - that Gareth was hiding. He knew he was your little bonus - you didn't expect him but you had the priviledge of that time with him anyway!

piximon · 16/12/2008 11:12

estar, I just looked at your profile, your pics are fab, wish I could get some good ones of mine but they just won't stay still, what's your secret? What a beautiful family you have.

estarofwonder · 16/12/2008 12:34

We had about twenty taken with all six of us in and there's not a single one where everyone is looking in the right place at the right time with a nice expression on our faces! We just went for the ones that weren't too bad! And it's the first decent set of pictures we've ever had. The secret? Wait till the majority of them are over 5 years old!

I thought I had the best present picked out for ds1 - a Star Wars Galactic Heroes Millennium Falcon (it's the kiddie version so its more robust and cute and has four main characters with it instead of wierd random ones) and I can't get it ANYWHERE! It was on offer at Argos for £20 but I've searched all the local ones, and on eBay they're about £50 - £90 quid. Noooooo - why did I not see it earlier??

frumpygrumpy · 16/12/2008 19:34

T&T!!! Bravo! Bravo!

H'lo estar how things?

Shabs.......are you ok? Last heard everyone was ill.....hope you haven't succumbed x.

DP is in Germany all week. What a week to go! AAAaaaargh! If you see me here later, please someone send me packing. I need to finish some online xmas presents and I should not be chin wagging on MN. You have my permission to tan my hide.

C'est moi????!!!! [innocent]

I only meant "tan my hide" as in "I'll leather your backside if you don't do it" as in "c'mere and I'll whack your bum with my slipper" as in 'reprimand' as in.........oh this is not working........

snorris · 16/12/2008 23:35

Ahem, a few pics now on my profile .

frumpygrumpy · 16/12/2008 23:39

snorris! Pass her over to ME ME ME ME ME ME!!! She is adorable!

frumpygrumpy · 17/12/2008 00:12

Right girls, I'm done with my online stuff at last! Sleep tight, long and peaceful. I made contact with Shabs. Poor doll is ill, ill, ill (and Derk and Tom). Sending the vibes your way Shabs xxxx.

Trips, where are you doll? You ok?

I'm sleeping so I best turn the light out.

pinkfrogsroastingonanopenfire · 17/12/2008 05:11

Sat here crying like a girl and I want my mum. Oh my God I feel so poorly. We all have the winter sickness bug and Tom & DH have a chest infection. Not eaten properly for 3 days and struggling to drink anything. Also not had a ciggy for 3 days so I am just a tad irrate as well. Yes I know its a good thing to stop but if any of you have stopped you will know what I am going on about.

TeaSleepInASproutFartHaze · 17/12/2008 09:04

Morning roasting frogs, big bundle of warm snuggly duvets, DVD of 'Bridget Jones/ Love Actually/ The Holiday' on its way to you. Just keep going. WE all need you but sometimes you need someone too. Look at your lovely tree and how beautiful everyone is even though they're poorly. Keep going!

Snorris - what beautiful cheeks - I want to eat them!

Tripletsandtwins - nice to meet you too! You are the uber mother of us all!

HarktheHarrogateMumissinging · 17/12/2008 13:29

Shabs - get well soon sweetheart. I am praying that none of us get it in the next couple of weeks - its the last thing we need.....

Snorris- she is just gorgeous, makes me a tad broody!

T&T - good to see you back - very impressed by your memory.

Everyone - helloooooooooooo. I am at work eating my lunch and getting excited about Crimbo....I am like a kid in the run up and then like a very harassed adult on teh day. boooooooo.

frumpygrumpy · 17/12/2008 13:31

Shabs I'll be your mum. Lie down and be ill, its the only way to get better. Its going to take you a bit to get over such a nasty bout but it will go my love. Head down, telly on til it irritates you then sleep.

I gave up booze for Christmas. I KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had a couple of glasses of wine on Saturday night and a G&T last night but nothing else for best part of a week, roughly. Its not forever but I need to cut down and I wanted to challenge myself. The run up to Christmas is so stressful for me that its easy to pour a glass or twelve every night So I realised the best challenge was to face it at the time it would test me most.

Shabs, stick with the no ciggies. I will with the wine if you will with the ciggies. We don't need them. We are gorgeous enough! (Well ok, so you are looking a little green right now but I'm a little grey due to lack of sleep.....averaging 5 hours a night atm and thats not enough for me).

C'mon doll xxx. Keep saying it xxx.
