29 weeks with twins. Had scan last Wednesday. Went perfect. Heartbeat great, size great ect. However I haven't had movement in a day and a half since yesterday. Going to ring midwife first thing tomorrow to get in for a check.

Somethings terribly wrong isn't it? This can't be normal.

Go to the hospital maternity unit now, you need a monitor on.

DNAHOY · 06/11/2023 20:35

Please go

MotherofDogs3 · 06/11/2023 20:35

Sorry but WTF? If this is real get to maternity triage NOW!! Everyone knows to get reduced movements checked out its a matter of life or death and u have left it a day and a half? I had reduced movements yesterday where baby wasn't as active but still felt movements and they checked me over at 10pm. They told me even with a baby that moves but not like their usual movements needs checking ASAP as leaving to the next day could be too late! I really hope everything is OK with these babies and u haven't left it too late...

itsalongwaybackfromsorry · 06/11/2023 20:36

Please go in tonight. x

neveradullmoment99 · 06/11/2023 20:38

Have you tried eating something sweet? Or a cold drink? Sometimes this can get baby moving.
Agree with the other posts. Do not wait. You need to be seen today.
I have had twins and it might be that your babies have less room but that is not a reason not to be seen. It is important that you do. Better safe than sorry.

TheRosesAreInBloom · 06/11/2023 20:40

Hi OP I do hope you’ve made your way to hospital and have the best outcome x

Thinking of you x

Trina90 · 06/11/2023 20:41

OP, I was in several times due to reduced movement just for an hour or so. Every time it was at night. Every single time, they said they’d rather me be over cautious than not getting checked. Please call to be seen tonight, even if just to put your mind at rest.

Plumful · 06/11/2023 20:42

I feel sick. Why have you left it this long already?

MummyJ36 · 06/11/2023 20:42

OP please go to to the MAU now. They will monitor you. Please please don’t delay.

Hmm, I was actually told this isn’t the best advice (despite being common) as if a baby is unwell, they will still move when they feel something cold, in the same way we would if unwell but if cold water was put on us. I know it’s not the same thing but it made sense to me nonetheless. I agree though that it’s worth a try too!

namechangedtodays · 06/11/2023 20:43

Hope all goes well OP xx

MaminIreland · 06/11/2023 20:44

I went in later at night in my first pregnancy twice. The first time I was monitored that night, they found reduced movements/no movements so scanned me that night and took bloods, was asked to go back the next morning and then admitted for over a week while they gave me medication and monitored me.

The second time I was monitored, scanned and admitted until they induced me.

I was pleased I went in both times.

Second pregnancy I went in, was monitored and was fine, but I was always told that it was the right thing to do.

You are correct. I was told you shouldn't need to do anything to encourage movement. Fair enough have a lie down so you're kind of focussed on feeling for it, but you shouldn't need to use sugar/cold/manual jiggling or whatever to get them going.

Rockfordpeach · 06/11/2023 20:46

When I went in for reduced movements they didn't scan me, they put me on a Doppler for an hour and I don't want to scare you but they delivered him via section within an hour of that because he was clearly in distress. You don't need a scan. Go in now please

DancyNancy · 06/11/2023 20:47

ROI here.
I was lucky to have a dedicated maternity hospital with an A&E in my county, but I know many can be a couple of hours away from one. Are you in that situation?

Can you get onto your nearest unit to speak with a midwife? Or ring out of hours doc to see where they recommend you go?

Have you tried the usual drinking cold sugary drink and lying down in the meantime?
I did find the movements changed as my twins got bigger. They were more squashed and I think turned towards eachother at one point so the moves were to eachother not outward to me. So hopefully that is the case for you but a good idea to be checked on.

I hope you can get to see someone this evening to put your mind at ease. Do update us if you can 🙏

CarolDunne · 06/11/2023 20:48

They absolutely will scan at 8pm in Ireland

Get yourself to hospital ASAP

I

Fifireee · 06/11/2023 20:49

Please tell me you are getting help x

DragonFly98 · 06/11/2023 20:51

Nobody would ignore no movement for a day and a half.

footiemum3 · 06/11/2023 20:54

Even if they won’t scan they will listen for the heartbeat. You really need to go and be checked.

Firsttimemum120 · 06/11/2023 20:55

Are you okay? We are advised as soon as we’ve not felt movement for a longer period of time to normal to seek medical attention. You need to be doing this and going to triage asap. Your babies need listening too and monitoring for a while

UnctuousUnicorns · 06/11/2023 20:55

Do they not teach 10 kicks a day anymore?

Firsttimemum120 · 06/11/2023 20:56

It’s not about being scanned they can listen and monitor without a scan and emergency scan you. I can’t believe how calm your being about it. Do something they are your babies

TeaKitten · 06/11/2023 20:57

UnctuousUnicorns · 06/11/2023 20:55

Do they not teach 10 kicks a day anymore?

No that’s outdated. They teach to get checked for any changes or reduction in movement. Hopefully OP is getting checked now.

I don’t understand. You want someone to agree that something is terribly wrong but you also want to wait until tomorrow to seek help?
