No fetal movement in a day and a half

29 weeks with twins. Had scan last Wednesday. Went perfect. Heartbeat great, size great ect. However I haven't had movement in a day and a half since yesterday. Going to ring midwife first thing tomorrow to get in for a check.

Somethings terribly wrong isn't it? This can't be normal.

Do they not teach 10 kicks a day anymore?

The advice I was given was just to learn what was normal tor my baby and get in contact if there were any changes to this

bellaroo92 · 06/11/2023 20:58

Go straight away

Please go asap. I wish I had gone sooner but I kept waiting for her to kick and she never did.

Zigzag24 · 06/11/2023 21:01

Ring your maternity triage now. They will likely ask you to go straight in for monitoring. Yes, routine scans don’t run at night but if one is required a doctor will perform it. This sounds very serious so please do not leave it.

senior30 · 06/11/2023 21:01

Why are you waiting until tomorrow? You need to contact your local maternity triage tonight, not wait another 12 hours.

Zanatdy · 06/11/2023 21:03

Something like this it doesn’t matter what time it is, maternity is open 24/7. Call up the maternity ward now and speak to them, I’m sure they will ask you to come straight in. They will be able to listen in for a heartbeat and if they need to scan they will. They always advance going straight in for something like this not waiting until morning.

Mum of twins here.
It does get rather squashed in there as time goes on.
Obviously get a scan or heart monitor asap.
But
Why not try to get some movement going.
Midwife once told me to

  • get on all fours and rock back and forth
  • drink something icy cold
  • sex
AvonCallingBarksdale · 06/11/2023 21:04

Either the OP is on their way to hospital having heeded everyone’s advice… or they’re sitting back pleased with the attention 🤷‍♀️

Firsttimemum120 · 06/11/2023 21:04

Guys we probably won’t even get an update. I actually wish I hadn’t clicked on this thread I’m mortified

If you think it’s fake report it and stop troll hunting. If OP is real you aren’t helping and are putting her off coming back to update.

Twiggywinkle13 · 06/11/2023 21:05

Please ring now, you don’t necessarily need to be scanned they can trace the movements on the monitor

Batshitcrazy007 · 06/11/2023 21:06

Hopefully you’ve listened to everyone on here and got yourself to the maternity unit

NumberTheory · 06/11/2023 21:06

You need to get checked. Do not wait.

But it’s not a given that something is horribly wrong. I had twins and while you do get a lot of movement, one being asleep can hide the movements of the other sometimes, so you also get lulls that someone with a solo pregnancy wouldn’t. You can’t tell what are okay lulls and what are signs of a problem though, so try not to worry but seek help ASAP.

Not to be rude but this is absolutely terrible advice and really dangerous to be repeating on a post about reduced movements. It doesn’t get ‘squished’ and your babies movements shouldn’t change right up until delivery.
I can’t believe there is a midwife on earth advising to rock back and forth on all fours or have sex to encourage fetal movements

ccvv · 06/11/2023 21:06

I hope you're in hospital op getting checked

bluestar5 · 06/11/2023 21:07

They will scan if they see it as an emergency. I had a monitor strapped on but they could not pick up heartbeat. They tried Doppler and couldn't They called a consultant to scan at 22.15pm but sadly my son had died. Go now and please don't wait.

Itsnotchristmasyet · 06/11/2023 21:08

The kicks do change sometimes.

I remember my baby being basically nocturnal and would be calm during the day and then go mad at night.
In the end I stopped noticing as much because I was so tired and it was so normal that I’d sleep through it.

I’n sure everything is absolutely fine but it’s always better to check and be on the safe side.
I’d ring 111 and see if they speak to the nearest hospital and can book you in for a quick scan of heartbeat monitor to put your mind at rest.

Maternity wards are open 24/7 and I’m sure there would be someone available to check the heartbeat quickly.

seven201 · 06/11/2023 19:53

I think you should ring your maternity triage. Where I live I'd be asked to come straight in for monitoring (they put belts round tummy to listen to heartbeats). Good luck

24 hours a day though? I’m in London and I’m sure our MAU closed at a certain time. Maybe A&E? I don’t know perhaps I’m wrong!

Maternity is open 24/7 and will be able to deal with out of hours emergencies. That’s what I’d advise to call maternity at the local hospital.

You are 100% wrong.

TheGhostILoveTheMost · 06/11/2023 21:10

Try drinking an ice cold glass of water/ milk. If that doesn't work (used to with my ds1 when I got worried) then you definitely need to go in despite the hour.

Ella31 · 06/11/2023 19:57

It's 8 at night. The won't scan at this time. I'm in Ireland. I didn't really cop it until this evening that things had been quiet. I'm obviously really annoyed at myself

if you need a scan or any other intervention, it will be done. please don't weight... just call triage, they will ask you to come in for assessment.
