No fetal movement in a day and a half

29 weeks with twins. Had scan last Wednesday. Went perfect. Heartbeat great, size great ect. However I haven't had movement in a day and a half since yesterday. Going to ring midwife first thing tomorrow to get in for a check.

Somethings terribly wrong isn't it? This can't be normal.

OP posts:

It clearly says here to get in touch straight away - not sure why you think they won't scan/take it seriously?

New2schoolrun · 06/11/2023 20:00

its as simple as this - you need to get to triage asap to check that your babies are still alive. You have already left it too long.

Reallynotoverreacting · 06/11/2023 20:00

You need to ring OP!!!! They may not be able to scan (don't understand why they wouldn't,) but they can use the Doppler etc
Please please don't risk the lives of your babies because you don't want to be a bother, because you are 100% not a bother.
Please go and get seen

DaisyMaisyFaisy · 06/11/2023 20:01

You really need to go in

Vansbrowneyedgirl · 06/11/2023 20:01

Go now!! Don’t wait. Please.

NoFaceNoName · 06/11/2023 20:01

You don’t need the ultrasound unit, which is likely a 9-5 type place, you need the maternity ward. Please call them straight away, they will put you on a monitor to check heartbeats and movements. You aren’t wasting anyone’s time, this is your babies lives. I went in 3 times with reduced movements, each time was fine and each time they told me to come straight back if it happened again. Please please call them now

Garman · 06/11/2023 20:01

I’m in Ireland, they absolutely will scan you why do you think they won’t? They’d at the very least put the babies on a trace and ask you to count movements with the clicker.

TwilightSkies · 06/11/2023 20:01

OP go now!! Honestly! It’s an emergency

doodlejump1980 · 06/11/2023 20:01

Call them now. And go in.

TMess · 06/11/2023 20:02

Of course they will be able to check on the babies, whether a scan or a monitor. You really need to go in now. I’ve always been told no movement in an hour or two from the third trimester warrants a visit triage. Have you tried the usual ice water, lying down, eating something sugary?

Ella31 · 06/11/2023 19:57

It's 8 at night. The won't scan at this time. I'm in Ireland. I didn't really cop it until this evening that things had been quiet. I'm obviously really annoyed at myself

They strap monitors to your bump. It's a 24/7 service, probably in or near your labour ward.

HowAboutTheLittleSpoon · 06/11/2023 20:03

You really really need to go now. It's not too late, 1am wouldn't be too late. I went so many times with my babies and in the end was monitored daily with my 3rd and never once did they think I shouldn't be there. Please go

Hairyfairy01 · 06/11/2023 20:03

Obviously you need to go in OP. Like now. What's the real reason you won't / can't?

bananawaffle · 06/11/2023 20:03

Call them, they'll have you straight in for monitoring especially with twins. Don't risk it.

whatevss · 06/11/2023 20:03

"Have you tried the usual ice water, lying down, eating something sugary?"

It's too late for all of this. OP needs to go urgently.

whatevss · 06/11/2023 20:04

"What's the real reason you won't / can't?"

Yes, what's the real reason?

Destiny123 · 06/11/2023 20:04

They won't ultrasound but they will do whats called a ctg which is a heart rate tracing for the babies to see how distressed they are whuch determines if u need an immediate csection or not

Please phone (Dr)

return2sender · 06/11/2023 20:04

They'll listen in and to a CTG! Call them now and say you're on your way!!!!

TeaKitten · 06/11/2023 20:04

They will monitor, scan if necessary, even deliver the babies there and then if necessary. It’s a 24 hour service! Phone and go in now OP. You are the only person that can advocate for your babies right now so you need to do it.

haribosmarties · 06/11/2023 20:05

I'm 26 weeks and had no movement for a day and I went in to maternity assessment at the hospital at midnight. Just ring first. No they don't scan at night but they find the heartbeat and can do some fetal monitoring if necessary.
For me it was fine. Heartbeat was strong they just told me baby had moved into a position where I couldn't feel them.
Ring your maternity assessment unit at the hospital now and go in ASAP don't wait till morning.

Mynewnameis · 06/11/2023 20:05

Of course they will check you st 8pm, it's a 24 hour service. Just go

FMSucks · 06/11/2023 20:05

I’m in Ireland and they saw me on New Year’s Day when I was spotting. You need to go straight in. Best of luck x

Do all of this whilst in the car. Don't wait.

Beach11 · 06/11/2023 20:07

Op go to the maternity unit at the hospital, now. You will be seen.

There should be an emergency contact number in your pregnancy notes

nocoolnamesleft · 06/11/2023 20:10

Part of my job is to (try to) resuscitate babies. You have reached viability. They absolutely will assess you tonight. If there is something going "terribly wrong" they can deliver the babies tonight. Get to the hospital. You urgently need assessing. Right now.
