Well since you insist the latest is dt1 taking his nappy off in the morning before we had got them up, and decorating his bedroom walls with pooh handprints. Not a present for granny, methinks, unlike the painted handprint plate she got for xmas.
We managed to get it all off, but now have faded handprints all over the walls, from where we have scrubbed the paint away
Do you think this means he isn't ready

estar · 14/02/2008 10:31

Oh Shabs, that is lovely about your ds1! I think my oldest is going to be like that. Whenever he talks about the future, he always talks about marrying somebody beautiful, going out to work for his family, and having ten children! He can't get enough of the baby and was a bit distraught the other day when I said we might not have any more - he wants me to have ten too! Incidentally, I asked the other two and dt1 said 'five' (more likely than ten) and dt2 thought about it, went up and down his fingers, and then announced 'one!' (Must remember to keep a close eye on him in case he really does try offing his brothers.....)

And Diamond White! Never a participator myself, but brings back funny memories of youth groups and always finding bottles of it hiding in the cisterns in the church toilets. Instead of trying to track down the culprits, we just used to slosh it down the loo, replace the empty bottles, and listen for the expletives when they returned!

estar · 14/02/2008 10:35

Overrun (did say hi on the last thread ) one of ours did that for a while. Got to putting full length sleepsuits on him backwards so he couldn't get them off! And try doing the nappy backwards too!

shabster · 14/02/2008 10:35

Overun - great stories

My DTS's at about 3 months both got the runs and were being sick at same time. Didnt have disposables then - they were very new and cost loads more than they do now.

Remember DH coming home from work and there were no clean napppies left, both twins laying on massive towels, legs in the air, pooing for England!!

What joy!!

Overrun · 14/02/2008 10:42

I aim to please, Estar hi, not sure you can get sleep suits for 3 years old. I have tried sleeping bags, sleep suits, nappies on backwards in the past, and mine are little houdinis, they get out of every thing I have tried. But thanks for the advice anyway, its nice to hear that your baby is here, what did you have ?

MarsLady · 14/02/2008 10:44

My DTs did that, esp DT2. Blardy boy! It took a while, a lot of stress but eventually he stopped. His latest trick (which is now over Praise God) was to hold toilet paper to his bottom and poo and wipe at the same time. Gross!!!!!!!!!!

Overrun · 14/02/2008 10:46

Yuk Nars, thats not nice at all
Well I am off shopping now, to get some food for a meal for dh and I.
I'll try and look on the thread later, and keep in better touch. I promise...

shabster · 14/02/2008 10:46

Mars - poo and wipe at the same time - umpah the lad is a genius - think he deserves a Blue Peter badge x

morning - missed the posh bird too

hope T&T and new babies are well

now I can find you later!!

frumpygrumpy · 14/02/2008 11:35

MOMMA WAS ON THE RADIO WITH MARS?????

MAGIC!!!!!

Wish we'd known in advance. Then we could have come up with some gem she had to include in her chat without falling apart laughing. Like maybe the words trimming pubic hair

Overrun lovely to have you here again My DTs are dry in the day but aren't dry at night yet (3.5). One was but then gave up. One has never been. DT1 got up for a wee last night, and soaked her pulls ups and wet the bed all at different times in the one night. Can't work it out! I just keep repeating "she won't be like this when she's 18" and I just keep loading up the machine. I never suffered poo on the walls though [miserable face on your behalf]. I think you need those cheap plastic painting sheets (meant for carpets) from B&Q. Pin to wall, rip off when manky. They are huge so each one could be cut to size. Alternatively could you wrap him in cling film post nappy application. That should take a while to peel off.

frumpygrumpy · 14/02/2008 11:36

I'm really not that today. I just get trigger happy. Either that or its the cocaine.

oooggs · 14/02/2008 11:41

overun, fg, my ds1 isn't dry at night and he is 4.2 - nowhere near dry at night at all

chopster · 14/02/2008 11:50

overun, you need zip up sleepsuits and nappy pins through the zipper at the top, that works.

I finanly did get dt1 trained, I jsut had to really go overboard with the praise and I sent him to his room when he pooed in his pants. Eventually he got the message, and it just clicked. It is a bloody nightmare, I was soo sick of cleaning up poo, so I know how you feel. Soon will be starting all over again though.

shabster · 14/02/2008 12:51

Chopster - nappy pins through the top - fantastic idea.

When I was nearly 11 my bossoms grew to dolly partons overnight ......chops.....stick with this it has a small meaning!

I was the only girl in primary with a bra (not a trainer one either) the height of fashion at the time was crimplene dresses with zips down the front that had a big 'ring pull' type of thing going on.

....Im getting there!

One day David Boardman (will never forget his name) hooked his finger thru the ring pull, pulled the zip down and almost fainted at the sight of my orange bra!!!!!!

Hence the use of nappy pins from that day on.

shabster · 14/02/2008 12:52

Ha ha in my excitement I wrote down my name as Shappy

chopster · 14/02/2008 12:53

pmsl! David Boardman will be in for a shock when he next googles his name

shabster · 14/02/2008 12:57

He deserves to be in shock - the little ferrett!! I saw him in Netto (the only place where the carrier bags are more expensive than the baked beans) a few months ago.

I said Hiya to him and he went bright red - dirty bertie he is.

Now I would leave the pin out if I could still fit in that dress and Mr R Williams wanted to pull the ring pull.

you need to educate me - what does pmsl mean

pregnant mummy smiles less????

chopster · 14/02/2008 13:00

better not be fecking pg!

pissing myself laughing (not literally, you understand...

Netto!! I haven't seen one of those for about twenty years! I used to go there to buy puffs srisps. They were tiny, like little potato macaroni, and extrememly moreish.

chopster · 14/02/2008 13:01

I can't type.

shabster · 14/02/2008 13:06

chops - you make me pmsl - see the things you can learn on MN. I cant type when I have been on the apple juice.

Aw dirty David Boardman - thats some more for when he googles!!!

and Andrew Edwards asked me to go out with him round the back of the bike sheds the same day as the orange bra incident - and kissed me - dirty ferrett.

Overrun · 14/02/2008 13:24

Its lovely to be back, and the recipient of this good advice. I hadn't thought about safety pins through sleep suits, but still wonder if they do sleep suits for 3 year olds. I am not even beginning to worry or think about them being dry at night yet, lets get the days sorted out first. I guess patience is the order of the day.
I will think about trying to make it so he can't get nappy off, but the pulling it off and smearing the walls was a one off, most of the time he gets up and does a pooh in the potty in the morning, or keeps his nappy on if it happens before we get them up.
As horrific as it was, I don't want to babyfy them too much, as they are so proud of their Mr Men and Spiderman pjs.
Did any of you who had problems with day time training, get into difficulty with nurseries?
I'm just trying to think of some non twin related news. Apart from ds1 starting school, and turning 5 last week. Which was a bit of and OH MY GOD MOMENT, is he really 5?

Oh, my bit of news is that I am learning welsh, or should I say Dwi'n dysgu cymraeg

Overrun · 14/02/2008 13:38

Oh and while I have been upstairs posting on MN, the dts got the butter out of the cupboard and made a cup tower stuck together with butter, and then to top it off, Dt2 pushed dt1 off the dining room table This is why I don't post anymore....

Needless to say, he is fine, and they are now watching Scooby Doo while I post here, and gear up to taking them all out to soft play to meet Fireman Sam

estar · 14/02/2008 13:39

Yeh, I searched everywhere for he sleepsuits and eventually think I found some in Woolies, but it was a couple of years ago so don't know if they'll still be there. And I've just remembered that for a whole week we actually wrapped gaffer tape round the actual nappy!

I know what you mean about not babyfying them - depends where your sanity cut-off point is, and also to get them out of the habit. Would be good if we knew in advance whether their phases were going to last a few weeks or several months!

Oh, it was a boy of course - DH can't produce anything else! His name is Levi James and he is totally gorgeous and perfect . Check out my profile pics.

Overrun · 14/02/2008 14:05

Oh estar, another boy I bet hes yummy, I know that it would be the same for us if we tried again....
I will seriously think about gaffer tape and such like, but he hasn't done it since, and was pretty severely told off, so maybe it will be an one off.
