Still got a headache, so no sleep and wretched doorbel keeps going off in the night for no reason, grrrrr!

ChopsterRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 19/12/2007 08:35

That would drive me nuts, I even unplug the phone at weekends.

dps family have a habit of calling us early in the morning, when we are still all in bed! I love the weekend mornings, we all stay end up in bed together and watch kids tv.

Leochristmaspuddingbelly · 19/12/2007 10:11

Estar, sorry your ds isn't well, have you tried salt water up the nose to clear it? We also hang chopped up onions in the dcs rooms at night as it helps keep them clear all night.

dt1 is also not well, but his temperature keeps going up and down (last night it was 39.6, this morning 37.6), last night I said I would take him to hte doctor but today think again it must just be a virus or teething (????) surely it can't be an infection with a temperature going up and down.

So Triplets, how are you going to destress yourself? You need a serious destress program.

Still very disorganised for christmas. I'm going to start writing 'Happy new year' instead of 'Happy christmas' in the christmas cards and hope that I can mange to get them posted in time to get there for new year !

OK... anyone else from the UK but not in the UK apart from T&T and me? what do you miss about christmas? You lot are making me feel christmas homesick.... so I want to be reminded of all the things I'm missing at christmas

mince pies,
christmas pudding,
christmas crackers,
carol singers,
that special warm christmas feeling you get going into people's houses (its different here)

Things I don't miss -

drunken work christmas parties and people running around covered in tinsel.
rows of plastic wrapped turkeys in the supermarket.

MERLYPUSSEDASAFART · 19/12/2007 10:23

MARS
Yes please re the hospital list. We were s'posed to be going out over night for new year to stay at big sister's but OH wants us to be closer to hosp Bless him. He's soooo excited.

TripleyXmasTippleTigger · 19/12/2007 11:56

Triplets i have just been over to O.J's thread,it looks like Steve is going into hospital today

estarofbethlehem · 19/12/2007 13:25

Leo, I'm glad there's someone else who's not posted cards yet! I suppose if you go on the fact that we are still in the Christmas season till January, then its fine, yes?

Thanks for the salt water tip - I'd forgotten about that. He seems to be developing his own method of getting rid of the phlem at the moment - drink lots of milk then hock it all back up, snot included.

Nice.

FrumpytheGrumpyreindeer · 19/12/2007 13:34

Leo, we could have made you a parcel!!! Can I send you some mince pies, crackers and Christmas pudding in the new year? Email me your address, go on! Anything else you get homesick for?

Egg · 19/12/2007 14:01

Estar DS does the same with his phlegm! He drinks all his milk, then coughs and coughs until the whole lot comes back up with green stuff included and then he is ready to go again with some more milk... Nice!

Egg · 19/12/2007 14:01

Forgot to say, we went to our first TWINS CLUB this morning! Very exciting. Got lots of advice and heard lots of positive stories too.

Leochristmaspuddingbelly · 19/12/2007 14:15

No, no FG, thank you but next year maybe! I could have asked my mum to send some stuff but I've left it too late. This is the first year for a loooooooong time that I've actually got excited about christmas and its only because ds1 is old enough to enjoy it and you lot are reminding me of the things that made it special for me when I was a child .

I should stop being so stubborn and lazy and actually consider coming back to the UK for christmas one year (or at some other time maybe - my mum has just moved and keeps going on about how she is making it nice and that there is enough room for us with 'the twins' to come (she forgets to mentsion ds1 ).

Leochristmaspuddingbelly · 19/12/2007 14:16

Estar & Egg - euuuuuuuuuugh!

PazzaPlusTwo · 19/12/2007 16:59

Hello to all . Just checking in,I had written a great long essay but luckily for you unfortunately my laptop froze and I lost it all. Anyway a quick run down instead
Dt's have been traumatised by their Christingle services and never want to go to church again. Dd4 had a trip to A&E after deciding to nosedive off a chair and a huge lump appeared on her head. We've been to see Santa, bought the tree (still outside though ). I committed a crime against nature and killed a squirrel when it ran under my car (still feeling guilty about it). I've had ill children off school (although I think dd1's was homework related ). Consequently I have drunk far too much wine and eaten too much chocolate but I don't care

Thoroughly enjoyed DCs first day of freedom xmas holidays. Didn't have to rush them to be anywhere or do anything all day. Bliss. Was running me ragged with one at nursery in the morning and one there in the afternoon. To think people thought I enjoyed having less of them around when actually it was much harder.

Today DH handed in his notice ready to take the local job at the end of Jan. Have only spoken to him on text but he sounded really down. Tonight we were supposed to have been going out with his company on the London Eye and for dinner, instead I had a bowl of porridge and a good moan at my mum and dad.

They thought it a great idea to land up at 5.45pm after visiting my brother. They know DS1 will play up if I have visitors around 6pm, they know they'll spend most of the visit telling him off. They know they'll make DD1 cry when they leave because she has to go to bed. They know they've been visiting in a hospital known for having MRSA amongst other things and DCs seem to be catching everything going. Yet still they came.

My mum had brought cards from my grandparents which had money in for the children so my dad immediately gave them more. He had told me he was "giving them money for xmas on xmas day but loves to compete.

It really annoys me, he could have given them it on any day and it doesn't matter how much the children got, they were just excited about getting anything. Instead they ended up with two lots of money and no clear idea that it wasn't all from him. It was more that he was showing off in an oh look I can give double what they can give kind of way, like it matters, DTs too small to know about money and DS1 and DD1 are still at the stage of being as excited about finding a penny as a pound (long may that continue ).

piximon · 19/12/2007 19:08

HM please don't go silent on us. I really do have an idea how you're feeling, obv not for the same reasons but maybe we can help in some way. You can email me on piximon at gmail dot com if you want to chat off here.

FG I want to live where you live. Carol Singers, real live carol singers, who actually know the songs and the tunes, unheard of around here. I've had kids (teenagers) knock on the door and sing some type of pop song (not Xmas themed in anyway) and expect money though. When we asked them to sing a xmas song they said they "didn't know any, but could they have their £1 now"

piximon · 19/12/2007 19:19

Leo - you could write "Happy Holidays" or "Seasons Greetings", that way it isn't clear to the receiver if you mean Xmas or New Year...maybe I should have done that, I still have yet to write mine out.
One of the worst things about Xmas in the Uk is that the shops get things out so early, it kind of dilutes the specialness of going out when you see the xmas stuff being advertised in December. I like that most other countries leave it till much later.

I also like being somewhere cold for the winter festivities. When away I miss the trimmings like brandy butter/brandy sauce/xmas cake/sprouts/music in all the shops/the coin in the xmas pud.
