11 weeks. How is your friend doing?

I didn't like to ask, but I wondered. Edwards syndrome, is chromosomal, like Downs, but usually far more serious and few babies survive infancy. A terrible condition.

I'm feeling rather sorry for Joanne, considering my original name, stop bullying her, you lot!

tripletsandtwins · 05/12/2007 15:04

Edwards' syndrome is an extra copy of chromosome 18, which causes physical abnormalities and mental problems. It's rare, but it's fatal.

Sorry Kelly [shameful]

I will take 30 lashes later and that will sort me out.

FrumpytheGrumpyreindeer · 05/12/2007 15:11

Oooh! Who is veryhappy? Have we a newbie? Is is Joanne?

tripletsandtwins · 05/12/2007 15:15

Before I forget. Hi Joanne

Agree with fg...hand it over tripley, there is absolutely no way on this good earth that you are so energetic without the aid of drugs!

She's not really doing too well tbh chopster she's in shock still and falling into self-hate, she blames herself because it's a genetic condition. I wish I could do more to help her.

MarsSelectionBoxLady · 05/12/2007 15:24

oh babe!

Now... help me out... tigger are you tripletEm? Cos I realise that names changed whilst I was travelling and I suddenly am unsure who is who is who

OP posts:
MarsSelectionBoxLady · 05/12/2007 15:24

tripletsandtwins · 05/12/2007 15:26

Tigger is tripletem mars.... what did happy say?

veryhappy · 05/12/2007 15:28

it wasn't anything exciting - I just posted on the wrong thread - there has that put you out of your misery?

MarsSelectionBoxLady · 05/12/2007 15:32

oh but you've piqued our curiosity. We don't often get "strangers" on here and we didn't give you any cake.

Oh T&T, that is awful. Is she in touch with any support groups that could help? Maybe it would help her to talk to other parents of children with Edward's Syndrome.

MarsSelectionBoxLady · 05/12/2007 16:24

I'm sure you'll be a great source of comfort and support for her darling. Chops is right though. I'm sure there'll be a support group out there for her.

Now... for something totally trivial. What sized tree do you normally get? Do you like real or fake?

I like real trees. We only had artificial ones when I was growing up and I dreamt of having a real tree. So now I get the biggest one possible and I love the smell that fills the house.

OP posts:
ChopsterRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 05/12/2007 16:30

Oh I love that smell too - but the needles dropping everywhere! We've got a nice big fake one in the loft - I'm planning to drag it down at the weekend.

tripletsandtwins · 05/12/2007 16:36

I've put her and her dp in touch with a few support groups that I know and a councilor friend of mine.

Mars, I have a fake tree, I will never get a real tree again, when we last had 1, I was finding pine needles until at least September. Can't begin to think how tall our tree is .

Am I allowed to beginning panicking about the imminent birth btw? I've come to the shocking realization that I will probably give birth within the next 11 days!!! AHHH! I will actually be tripletsandtwins!!!!

ChopsterRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 05/12/2007 16:40

11 days! Is it really?! Can I panic too!

That means when I come to Florida you will have little diddy babies - I wanna see!

Hi everyone and welcome to the new mum, mayhem and madness is what we are all famous for! I quite panicked when I saw the old thread was full, should we not be in the Guiness book of records? Not a bad day, looked after my friends two yr old, we had fun playing pirates, he`s a sweetheart! Yes Frump, we put a new dec on the tree every year for Matthew, also my brother two years ago found some china angels with the childrens names on so they all have one each, then every year we put two special ones on the Matthew bought in San Francisco in 93, one is musical, usually brings a tear. At the cemetery I decorate his rose tree like a Christmas tree, and then we have lots of pretty things we put on the headstone, same for my lovely Dad who is buried in front of Matthew. My friend brought me back some special candles that are safe to leave, so we light those too. I have two brothers who live opposite the cemetery and from their bedroom windows they can see the light of the candles, I think thats nice............but its hard. Now Chuffed, I actually put on 21.lbs but ate like a horse! Went down to a size 12 immediately, just wish I was now! Better go, promised DT3 he could go on here before tea, see you later!
