I have just added new pics to my profile of Beau and the children, the others were not clear enough to demonstrate his true cuteness

tkband3 · 11/06/2007 14:46

Yes Mars, I have been lurking ...here's why . Haven't really felt up to posting...sorry. Am suitably chastened.

quickly though - welcome Mommalove, it's not all sleeplessness and hard work, honest . and LG&T welcome back...beau is a real cutie. Hope he lets you sleep soon!

HM - welcome back from hols, hope you are feeling better. Would echo LG&T's advice on your DD's sleep, but given my current problems, I'm clearly no expert!! good luck for return to work.

Harrogatemum · 11/06/2007 17:07

Hi tkband3 and LG&T!! I think you are right about the sleep thing........will be mean mummy doing water onlyt onight. Sory to hear about your own sleep problems tkb - I seem to have one night owl who has decided he doesnt want to go to sleep until around 10 at night and we always have to split them up to get them to sleep as they just wind each other up and boing on the beds together if we dont.........

Sympathies HM, I think you first need to work out if she is waking up hungry or if it has become a habit. If she is hungry you could try giving her a dream feed. I know its against the rules in the UK, but we used to give ds1 a bottle of milk with cereal in it as his bedtime feed (maybe he was a bit older than your dd I don't remember), it was the only way we could get him to sleep through.
If its habit then go with the reducing the feed in the middle of the night or give water.
The 5am waking could be because she needs to reduce her sleeps during the day?

MarsLady · 12/06/2007 07:11

I did Richard Ferber too with my DTs. In fact I'm about to give him another bash... only I lent my copy to a MNer (forgotten who) and never got it back. Sigh...........

So TK... have a look cos it's pretty good. (You may not agree with all of the book but the toddler stuff worked for me every time).

Leo - I wish it was because she naps too much during the day but I am lucky if she has half an hour in the morning and half an hour in the afternoon - she is perpetually awake!! Anyway last night DH dream fed her at 10.30pm and then she was whinging at about 1.30am but we ignored it and she went back to sleep until 5.30am when I had to feed her.......oh well, a bit better - I will be trying the water route if she carries on......I did it with the DTs when they were 4 months old and it worked. She is 6 months old but I dont feel so militant about it as I did with the boys!

piximon · 12/06/2007 10:35

oh have just figured out how to upload pics here is a pic of DS1 . Will try to post some pics of the twins tonight.

Chopster · 12/06/2007 18:16

I've been lurking. I've jsut not had the time to post lately.

It's been lovely weather here, so I've bought myslef a legoland annual pass and the boys are loving it. They are really into all the models which I didn't expect, and can spend ages jsut staring at them, while I enjoy the sun. It's free for them, so it's a great way to save my sanity, as it only 10 mins drive from here.

They are also finally settling in at preschool. They still wail 'like!' and cling to me, but once the doors open, they run in and go for the toys really quickly. I'm certain it is now a ploy to make me feel bad!

potty training is going nowhere. They like doing things on the potty. But they also like doing them all over the floor, or the sofa, or my lap. Maybe I will wait a few years...

frumpygrumpy · 12/06/2007 19:57

shopped fast today for an outfit for a ball we are going to. I covered most of town I think in a couple of hours. I have sore legs and am lightheaded. Cheap date me eh!

HM I remember only too well 5am wakings. Its also that time of day its difficult to leave them to cry because your other kids have had most of a nights sleep and can easily wake then too. Would she snuggle in with you? I've never been able to sleep well with children in the bed but sometimes its just all you can do.... With my DTs it was not long after 6/7 months they stopped waking so early.

The only other thing is maybe try to see if she can hold out for a lunchtime nap. Richard Ferbers book points out that too early a morning nap can almost become part of the night's sleep - i.e. wake at 5am have breakfast stay awake for a bit and then drift off to finish off your nights sleep. By holding off on the morning nap you can sometimes regulate the clock. It was exactly the problem with my DT1 and the change happened really quickly. Good luck with it, sleep is precious.

Have to run but chat more later in the week when DP away.

frumpygrumpy · 13/06/2007 15:02

Boy this place is a tip! We are neglected! Right, Kelly and Mars, get baking, dingdong open some wine, HM, lay out the cheese, I need volunteers for hoovering, plumping the cushions and plopping fresh flowers about the place. I will light candles as I am really very good at that. Right GO

Just because my DP is around and I'm not here so much, doesn't mean you can all just fade away into reality FGS!

AND ANOTHER THING - get some lippy on!

Leoladyofleisure · 13/06/2007 19:28

Just popping in to say hello!
.... oh, still nothing happening in here. I'll sit around for half an hour, but must be in bed by 9 tonight!

ds1 was asleep before I got him home tonight, dh had the job of putting the dts to bed while I cleaned kitchen up and caught up with some washing. I've just put my head around the bedroom door and seen dh fast asleep with a dt cuddled under each arm - all 3 snoring away! Sigh !

Our DD's are 2 yrs apart and they get asked if they are twins too.

glamourbadger · 13/06/2007 21:27

No wonder I don't drop by very often, you could at least lay on some decent nibbles...

Chopster · 13/06/2007 21:53

I've been in the kitchen all day and I am exhausted. Fridge is bulging though, so R&R for the rest of the week.

Ds1 and ds2 were very alike when small and I was constantly asked if they were twins, so that ds1 aged 4 started sighing at the question and saying in a monotone
"yes we look alike, don't we? Yes we look like twins, don't we? Yes, we have the same hair, don't we......? "

MarsLady · 14/06/2007 01:12

I found a bed!

Is there any of that cheesecake of ldc left over for my breakfast ?

Chopster · 14/06/2007 07:49

what are you doing on here at this ungodly hour? I've got the perfect indian breakfast lined up, spicy chai tea, and potato bhajia to dip into it.

I'm a bit worried. All of a sudden I seem to be lactating again! I've been having periods - can't possibly be pregnant, but I have really sore boobs and tons of spots. Any ideas? I feel a right scruff and I'm hiding under a baker boy hat.

Leoladyofleisure · 14/06/2007 08:19

ds1 was up at 6.30 and its impossible for him and dh to be quiet in the morning, but we are an hour ahead of you....
Can't help you with the lactating and spots. Could it be pmt or could you be pregnant again? Would you be ed!

Breakfast sounds lovely, I love chai tea, mmmm!

Desparately trying to buy a sexy swimming costume to try to make myself look reasonable at the pool. The my huge boobs fall out of the normal ones and the cup sized ones all seem to be made for 60 year old women...., only one shop left to try if I can get out of here this morning!

Chopster · 14/06/2007 08:30

I always forget you are in europe! do you get how to look good naked? There were some ace tips on there for swim suits. Apparently I have been buying completely the wrong style for my shape.

I had better not be pregnant, please God, no! I really don't want another. I'm enjoying having toddlers now, having great fun with them.

Chopster · 14/06/2007 08:31

oh and as regards pmt, AF not due for another 2 weeks.
